Lake Hiawatha

Ericsson is a neighborhood within the Nokomis community in Minneapolis. Its boundaries are East 42nd and 43rd Streets to the north, Hiawatha Avenue to the east, Minnehaha Parkway to the south, and Cedar Avenue to the west. The neighborhood is the site of Lake Hiawatha, which is connected to Minnehaha Creek. Ericsson shares a neighborhood organization with Standish, even though that neighborhood lies in the Powderhorn community; signs at the western, southern, and eastern boundaries of the neighborhood welcome you to "Standish-Ericsson". The 46th Street station of the METRO Blue Line is located in Ericsson.

Hiawatha Golf Course is a golf course adjacent to Lake Hiawatha in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The golf course was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2023 for its association with the African American community. The Minneapolis Park Board developed five golf courses in the first three decades of the 20th century, since golf was a relatively new sport at the time and interest was peaking. Black residents in Minneapolis were concentrated in a few neighborhoods, including Southside, so Hiawatha Golf Course became an important social and recreational center for that neighborhood.: 23

Roosevelt High School is a public school located in the Standish neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. A part of the Minneapolis Public Schools, it is named after 26th United States President Theodore Roosevelt. Athletic and other competition teams from the school are nicknamed the Teddies. Roosevelt has been an International Baccalaureate World School since March 2010, and offers the Diploma Programme as well as the IB Career-related Certificate.

Keewaydin is a neighborhood in the Nokomis community in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its boundaries are Minnehaha Parkway to the north, 34th Avenue to the east, 54th Street to the south, and Cedar Avenue to the west. The neighborhood contains the majority of Lake Nokomis. It shares a neighborhood organization with the Minnehaha, Morris Park, and Wenonah neighborhoods, which are collectively referred to as Nokomis East and served by the Nokomis East Neighborhood Association (NENA).

Station 13 of the Minneapolis Fire Department is a fire station in the Ericsson neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The station, at 4201 Cedar Ave. S., was built in 1923 during a period when the city was growing rapidly. Between 1919 and 1922, nearly 5,000 new homes had been built in Minneapolis, and city planners of that era were concerned about fire protection for buildings located near the city limits. That era saw other construction projects such as Roosevelt High School, built in 1922; Standish Elementary School, built in 1920; and Roosevelt Community Library, built in 1925. The city wanted the station to blend into its surrounding residential area, so the building was designed in the American Craftsman bungalow style. It had a low, horizontal roof and a front yard, which distinguished it from other fire stations that typically had two stories and prominent entries. It served as a fire station until 1979, when the Minneapolis Fire Department initiated a remodeling and expansion program. It later held an emergency medical technician unit before being converted to offices. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Standish is a neighborhood within the Powderhorn community in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States named after Captain Miles Standish. Its boundaries are East 36th Street to the north, Hiawatha Avenue to the east, East 42nd and 43rd Streets to the south, and Cedar Avenue to the west. It shares a neighborhood organization with the Ericsson neighborhood, even though that neighborhood is part of the Nokomis community; signs at the neighborhood boundaries welcome you to "Standish-Ericsson". Roosevelt High School is located in Standish.

Lake Nokomis is one of several lakes in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. The lake was previously named Lake Amelia in honor of Captain George Gooding's daughter, Amelia, in 1819. Its current name was adopted in 1910 to honor Nokomis, grandmother of Hiawatha. It is located in the southern part of the city, west of the Mississippi River and south of Lake Hiawatha. The lake is oval in shape, with a long axis running southwest to northeast. Two pathways circle the lake, a 2.7-mile (4.3 km) pedestrian trail and a 2.8-mile (4.5 km) bicycle trail. Because the lower part of the lake is crossed by Cedar Avenue running north-south, the impression from the ground is that the lake is shaped like an L. The lake has an area of 204 acres (0.83 km2).

38th Street station is a light rail station on the Blue Line in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This station is located at the intersection of 38th Street South and Minnesota State Highway 55 (Hiawatha Avenue), in Minneapolis. This is a center-platform station. Service began at this station when the Blue Line opened on June 26, 2004.

46th Street station is a light rail station on the METRO Blue Line in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This station is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of 46th Street and Minnesota State Highway 55 (Hiawatha Avenue), in the Ericsson neighborhood. This is a side-platform station. Service began at this station when the Blue Line opened on June 26, 2004. 46th Street Station is one of the main bus interchanges on the Blue Line in Minneapolis. Buses serving south Minneapolis and St. Paul serve the station's bus interchange. A bus rapid transit line, called the A Line, began operating on Snelling Avenue in June 2016, beginning its route at 46th Street Station; the line also connects to the Green Line at Snelling Avenue and University Avenue.

Nokomis Library, formerly Nokomis Community Library, is a branch library serving the Nokomis East area of Minneapolis, Minnesota. One of 41 libraries in the Hennepin County Library system, Nokomis was designed by Buetow and Associates, Inc and opened in 1968 as a replacement for the nearby Longfellow Community Library. After being deemed crowded and outdated in 1999, the library underwent a renovation beginning in 2009 that saw it gain a number of environmentally friendly features and an expansion of 4,300 square feet (399 m2). The building reopened in 2011 and includes a restored Wind and Water Chime, a stabile that was part of the original library and that was refurbished and reinstalled by July 2013. The library contains over 35 computers, a public meeting room, and a Spanish-language collection of materials.
