Haslingden Grane is the glaciated upper portion of the valley of the River Ogden, which lies west of Haslingden and is in the north east section of the West Pennine Moors. To the north is Oswaldtwistle Moor, and to the south Musbury Heights. It was once the home of Grane village, and is easily accessible via the B6232/A6077 Grane Road which links to the M65 motorway and the A56. Grane valley is dominated by its three reservoirs, Holden Wood, Calf Hey and Ogden.

The Musbury Valley is a small valley in the Helmshore area of Rossendale Valley, Lancashire. Musbury Brook flows through its length, and its south side is flanked and dominated by Musbury Tor. In the 14th century it was part of the Earl of Lincoln's hunting park. Most of the Musbury valley is now sheep grazing pasture. To the south is Musbury Tor and Alden Valley; to the north-west is Musbury Heights and, beyond, the Grane Valley. Beginning as Long Grain Water on Musden Head Moor, the stream becomes Musbury Brook after its confluence with Short Grain Water. It flows in a north-westerly direction to join the River Ogden, a tributary of the River Irwell.

Musbury Tor or Tor Hill is a flat-topped hill in south-east Lancashire, England. It overlooks the village of Helmshore and separates Alden Valley to its south and Musbury Valley to its north. Mainly consisting of farmland and pastures, its summit is 340.1 metres (1,116 ft) above sea level. The hill is a prominent landmark and can be seen from much of Helmshore and is often colloquially referred to as ‘the Tor’ by the local population. 'Tor View' is a name shared by several houses and a local Special School.

Yate and Pickup Bank is a civil parish in the borough of Blackburn with Darwen, Lancashire, England. The population of the civil parish taken at the census of 2011 was 366. The parish contains two hamlets, Bank Fold and Pickup Bank and part of the village of Belthorn which is on the boundary with Hyndburn. It has boundaries with the parishes of Eccleshill to the west and North Turton to the south. To the east is the area of Oswaldtwistle of the borough of Hyndburn and the area of Haslingden Grane of the borough of Rossendale (both of these districts are now unparished). The parish adjoins unparished parts of Blackburn with Darwen in two places: one is near Hoddlesden in the south west; the other, in the north is now along the M65 Motorway after the parish was extended in April 1997. As a result of the boundary changes, part of the village of Guide is now within the parish.

The Alden Valley is a small valley on the eastern edge of the West Pennine Moors, west of Helmshore in Rossendale, Lancashire, England. In the 14th century it was part of the Earl of Lincoln's hunting park. By 1840 it was home to about twenty farms, largely involved in cattle rearing, although most inhabitants were also involved with the production of textiles, which quickly developed during the Industrial Revolution into the building of textile mills. These have now been demolished and the valley is dominated by sheep grazing, with three working farms and a number of smallholdings.To the north and north-west is Musbury Tor, to the south-west at the head of the valley is Scholes Height, to the west is Musden Head Moor and Burnt Hill. To the south is Bull Hill and the Holcombe Moor, to the south-east is Beetle Hill. Alden Brook forms from several streams draining Wet Moss on the north-western slopes of Scholes Height, which join after flowing through several gullies at an area known as Alden Ratchers. It is the last of the River Ogden's tributaries to join before it joins the River Irwell.

Helmshore Mills are two mills built on the River Ogden in Helmshore, Lancashire. Higher Mill was built in 1796 for William Turner, and Whitaker's Mill was built in the 1820s by the Turner family. In their early life they alternated between working wool and cotton. By 1920 they were working shoddy as condensor mule mills; and equipment has been preserved and is still used. The mills closed in 1967 and they were taken over by the Higher Mills Trust, whose trustees included historian and author Chris Aspin and politician Dr Rhodes Boyson, who maintained it as a museum. The mills are said to the most original and best-preserved examples of both cotton spinning and woollen fulling left in the country that are still operational. Following the withdrawal of its grant from Lancashire County Council, the museum closed to the public on 30 September 2016 for an indefinite period. However, the museum remained open for pre-booked school visits. In April 2018 the council announced that the museums would reopen to the general public for three days a week between April and November.

Helmshore railway station served the village of Helmshore, Rossendale, Lancashire between 1848 and 1966.

The Hollins (formerly known as The Hollins Technology College until 2017) is a coeducational secondary school located in Accrington in the English county of Lancashire.

Baxenden railway station served the villages of Baxenden in Hyndburn and Rising Bridge in Rossendale. It was situated just inside the old boundary of Haslingden on the line from Bury Bolton Street to Accrington, which was opened in 1848 by the East Lancashire Railway. The station gave its name to the nearby Baxenden Bank, the two-mile section towards Accrington that included gradients as steep as 1 in 38. The Accrington Corporation Steam Tramways Company built a tramline from Accrington in 1887 that terminated at the station. The station closed to passengers in 1951, some fifteen years before the line serving it suffered a similar fate.

Mount Carmel Roman Catholic High School is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school located in Accrington, a town located in the county of Lancashire, England.A Roman Catholic school - “A family of faith and learning”. It is a voluntary aided school administered by the Lancashire County Council and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford. The school offers GCSEs and BTECs as study programs for pupils. The school was formed in 1978 by the merger of the Holy Family, a secondary modern school, and the Paddock House Convent Grammar School, a former direct grant grammar school. The current Headteacher is Xavier Bowers. In 2019, Paul Dugdale was appointed Deputy Headteacher. In April 2020, Caroline Farrelly was appointed Deputy Headteacher. Farrelly was previously an Assistant Headteacher at St Monica's High School in Prestwich and Subject Leader of English at The Hollins.

Pilgrims' Cross, Holcombe Moor, also called Whowell's Cross and Chatterton's Cross, is located on Holcombe Moor near Ramsbottom and Holcombe, Greater Manchester, England. It marks the site of a 12th-century stone wayside cross, originally placed for the use of travellers, for prayer and as a guide post.

Helmshore () is a village in the Rossendale Valley, Lancashire, England, south of Haslingden between the A56 and the B6235, 16 miles (26 km) north of Manchester. The population at the 2011 census was 5,805. The housing in Helmshore is mixed, with some two-up, two-down terraces, top-and-bottom houses and a few surviving back-to-back cottages. Between the 1970s and 2020 new housing estates have proliferated.
