Browne House

Bemis is a neighborhood located in the southwest corner of Watertown, Massachusetts, United States. It is bounded by Main Street to the north, the Charles River to the south, and the City of Waltham to the west. The neighborhood derives its name from Seth Bemis (1775–1851), who ran mills on both sides of the river near Bridge Street, including the Bemis Mill, which is located just across the Charles River at 1–3 Bridge Street, in Newton, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Seth was the father of George Bemis (October 13, 1816 – January 5, 1878), a successful lawyer and legal scholar. Bemis Park is located in this neighborhood.

The Mayor Edwin O. Childs House is a historic house located at 340 California Street in Newton, Massachusetts. It is a stucco-clad two story wood-frame structure with a side gable roof and a three-bay shed-roof dormer. The centered entrance is sheltered by a square portico supported by paired square columns and topped by a balustrade. The house was built in 1915 to a design by Brainerd and Leeds for Edwin O. Childs, who was then serving as Newton's mayor. The house is a well-preserved example of the Craftsman style.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Evangelical Baptist Church is an historic church located at 23 Chapel Street, in the village of Nonantum in Newton, Massachusetts. Built in 1873 in Gothic Revival style, it was designed by noted Boston architect Charles Edward Parker, who in 1853 designed what today is the Architects Building of the Boston Society of Architects at 52 Broad Street, Boston. Evangelical Baptist Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 4, 1986. The Evangelical Baptist Church is still an active congregation.

The Bemis Mill is a historic former industrial building at 1-3 Bridge Street, in the village of Nonantum, in Newton, Massachusetts. It is now a general office building called the Meredith Building. The building is significant historically as a surviving early industrial building in the city, and for the remnants of unique power distribution and water control facilities that survive. On September 4, 1986, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Nonantum (from Massachusett "I bless it"), also known as Silver Lake or The Lake, is one of the thirteen villages within the city of Newton in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States, located along the Charles River at the site of a former lake. The village is one of the centers of Italian population in Newton. The commercial area has numerous restaurants and food establishments featuring Italian cuisine.

The Warren White House is a historic house in Waltham, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1850–54, and is the oldest surviving house on Warren Street, once an important thoroughfare between Waltham and Belmont. The house has classic Italianate styling, with a symmetrical three-bay facade, wide cornerboards and entablature, and round-arched gable windows. It was built by Warren White, a wheelwright, on land owned by David White, a farmer, who sold Warren White the property in 1855.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The CatholicTV Network, commonly known as CatholicTV, is a Catholic television network based in Watertown, Massachusetts. CatholicTV first launched locally in Boston in 1955, making it the oldest Catholic television network in the United States. Today, it is distributed on cable television systems, internet television, and broadcast stations in sixteen U.S. states and the U.S. Virgin Islands and now worldwide. CatholicTV broadcasts programming relevant to Catholic viewers, including live religious services, talk shows, devotional programs, educational series, entertainment, and children's programs. The network regularly presents coverage of liturgies and special events at the Vatican and during papal journeys. As of 2016, the president of the CatholicTV Network is Bishop Robert P. Reed.

The John A. Ryan Skating Arena is a 1,000-seat hockey rink owned and operated by the city of Watertown, Massachusetts. It served as the home ice of the Bentley University Falcons men's ice hockey team from 1977 to 2018, until the team moved into its new on-campus home, the Bentley Arena, in February 2018. The John A. Ryan Skating Arena is home to local teams and MIAA tournament games. The JAR, as it is affectionately known as, lies on the banks of the Charles River. The arena is also home to the East Coast Jumbos, who are a special needs hockey team. They also play at the MacDowell Ice Arena at the Rivers School.

Gore Place is a historic country house, now a museum, located at 52 Gore Street, Waltham, Massachusetts. It is owned and operated by the nonprofit Gore Place Society. The 45-acre (180,000 m2) estate is open to the public daily without charge; an admission fee is charged for house tours. A number of special events are held throughout the year including an annual sheepshearing festival and a summer concert series. The mansion was built in 1806 as a summer home for Massachusetts lawyer and politician Christopher Gore. In this house the Gores entertained various notables including the Marquis de Lafayette, Daniel Webster, and James Monroe. The property was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970 in recognition of its architectural significance as a large-scale Federal style country house, and for its well-preserved domestic staff quarters, which illustrate the changing role of domestic labor over time.

The Watertown Dam spans the Charles River 980 feet (300 m) upstream from the Watertown Bridge near Watertown Square in Watertown, Massachusetts. The dam is located where the Charles River tidal estuary historically ended (the tides no longer reach this point because of the downstream Charles River Dam). Watertown Dam is of concrete construction, a gravity dam, last rebuilt in 1966. Its length is 220 feet (67 m). Its capacity is 30 acre-feet (37,000 m3). Normal storage is 20 acre-feet (25,000 m3). It drains an area of 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2).The history of the dam traces back to 1632 when construction of a fish weir was authorized. The current dam, maintained by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, dates from 1900. It is part of the Upper Charles River Reservation.

Beacon High School is a private day school located in Watertown, Massachusetts, US. It provides a therapeutic, alternative, co-educational program designed for students with emotional or psychiatric problems, as well as mild to moderate learning disabilities. It has an enrollment cap of 65, ranging in age from 14 to 22. In 2017 the school also added a middle school classroom, which operates within the high school.

The Adams Street Shul, officially the Congregation Agudas Achim Anshei Sfard, is a Modern Orthodox Jewish synagogue located at 168 Adams Street in the village of Nonantum in Newton, Massachusetts, in the United States. Built in 1912 for a congregation established in 1911, it is home to Newton's oldest Jewish congregation, and one of the oldest in the region still occupying its original synagogue. Its Romanesque Revival-style building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 16, 1990.
