Adams Street Shul

Nonantum (from Massachusett "I bless it"), also known as Silver Lake or The Lake, is one of the thirteen villages within the city of Newton in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States, located along the Charles River at the site of a former lake. The village is one of the centers of Italian population in Newton. The commercial area has numerous restaurants and food establishments featuring Italian cuisine.

Our Lady Help of Christians Historic District encompasses a complex of Roman Catholic religious buildings in the Nonantum village of Newton, Massachusetts. It includes four fine examples of brick Gothic Revival architecture: the church, convent, and rectory, as well as Trinity Catholic High School. The first three buildings were designed by noted ecclesiastical architect James Murphy, and were built between 1873 and 1890. The high school building was built in 1924, also in the Gothic Revival style. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Crafts Street City Stable is a historic redbrick public works building located at 90 Crafts Street near Ashmont Avenue in Newton, Massachusetts. Designed for $375 by Boston-based architect and Newton resident William F. Goodwin in the Colonial Revival style of architecture, it was built in 1895 for the city of Newton at a cost of $25,000 to serve as additional stable for its then Highway Department. Over the years, it was converted to a city garage and is now called the Crafts Street Garage. It forms the focal point for the city's Department of Public Works complex. On December 18, 2009, the building along with a 20-foot perimeter strip around it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Trinity Catholic High School was a Roman Catholic high school in Newton, Massachusetts. It was located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston. The school was a co-educational and college preparatory school founded in 1894. The school shut down in 2012, at which point the building that housed its functions was taken over by Cambridge Education Group and established as CATS Academy, a private non-religious school, catering mostly to international students.

The Evangelical Baptist Church is an historic church located at 23 Chapel Street, in the village of Nonantum in Newton, Massachusetts. Built in 1873 in Gothic Revival style, it was designed by noted Boston architect Charles Edward Parker, who in 1853 designed what today is the Architects Building of the Boston Society of Architects at 52 Broad Street, Boston. Evangelical Baptist Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 4, 1986. The Evangelical Baptist Church is still an active congregation.

The House at 511 Watertown Street in Newton, Massachusetts is one of the city's finer Colonial Revival houses completed in 1897. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 and is on the border of two of Newton's older villages: Newtonville and Nonantum.

The Mayor Edwin O. Childs House is a historic house located at 340 California Street in Newton, Massachusetts. It is a stucco-clad two story wood-frame structure with a side gable roof and a three-bay shed-roof dormer. The centered entrance is sheltered by a square portico supported by paired square columns and topped by a balustrade. The house was built in 1915 to a design by Brainerd and Leeds for Edwin O. Childs, who was then serving as Newton's mayor. The house is a well-preserved example of the Craftsman style.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Amos Judkins House is a historic house at 8 Central Avenue in Newton, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1884, and is an excellent and well-preserved example of Queen Anne styling. It has asymmetrical massing, and a variety of gables, projections, and recessed areas that add variety to its external appearance. The exterior is clad in part in clapboards, and in part with decoratively cut wood shingles. The focal point of the front porch is a gable-topped arch.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Potter Estate is a historic estate at 65-71 Walnut Park in Newton, Massachusetts. The centerpiece of the estate is a large Second Empire mansion house which was constructed in 1867 by John Potter, Jr., a shoe and leather businessman. It has a mansard roof characteristic of the style, bracketed eaves, and a single-story wraparound porch that is a later Colonial Revival addition. The estate includes several outbuildings dating to Potter's time, including a carriage house and gardener's cottage; the estate also has period cast iron fencing.The estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Aquinas College was a college in Milton, Massachusetts, and 15 Walnut Park, Newton, Massachusetts. It was closed in 2000. Its Newton campus was then used by The Rashi School, the Boston-area Reform Jewish K-8 Independent School. The school became vacant again when The Rashi School moved to their permanent home in nearby Dedham, Massachusetts, in 2010. In 2015, the city of Newton purchased the property to "house the preschool program and create additional school space to relieve overcrowding and facilities issues at several elementary schools". The Jackson Homestead, located at 527 Washington Street, in the village of Newton Corner, in Newton, Massachusetts, is an historic house that served as a station on the Underground Railroad before the Civil War. It was built in 1809 in the Federal style by Timothy Jackson (1756–1814) on his family's farm. His son William Jackson (1783–1855) lived in it from 1820 until his death. William Jackson was an abolitionist and was active in politics on the local, state and national levels and served in the United States Congress from 1833 to 1837. The home was occupied by his family until 1932 when it was rented out. In 1949 it was given to the city of Newton and in 1950 the Newton History Museum was established there.

The Bemis Mill is a historic former industrial building at 1-3 Bridge Street, in the village of Nonantum, in Newton, Massachusetts. It is now a general office building called the Meredith Building. The building is significant historically as a surviving early industrial building in the city, and for the remnants of unique power distribution and water control facilities that survive. On September 4, 1986, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
