The Bemis Mill is a historic former industrial building at 1-3 Bridge Street, in the village of Nonantum, in Newton, Massachusetts. It is now a general office building called the Meredith Building. The building is significant historically as a surviving early industrial building in the city, and for the remnants of unique power distribution and water control facilities that survive. On September 4, 1986, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Celia Thaxter House is an historic house at 524 California Street in the village of Newtonville in Newton, Massachusetts. The Italianate house was built c. 1856 as the home of Levi Lincoln Thaxter and American poet and author Celia Thaxter. The Thaxters lived here until 1880 when she moved to Kittery Point, Maine. It was in the Newtonville house that Celia Thaxter wrote her early poetry, and where the Thaxters played host to high-profile members of Boston's literary community.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Mayor Edwin O. Childs House is a historic house located at 340 California Street in Newton, Massachusetts. It is a stucco-clad two story wood-frame structure with a side gable roof and a three-bay shed-roof dormer. The centered entrance is sheltered by a square portico supported by paired square columns and topped by a balustrade. The house was built in 1915 to a design by Brainerd and Leeds for Edwin O. Childs, who was then serving as Newton's mayor. The house is a well-preserved example of the Craftsman style.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Evangelical Baptist Church is an historic church located at 23 Chapel Street, in the village of Nonantum in Newton, Massachusetts. Built in 1873 in Gothic Revival style, it was designed by noted Boston architect Charles Edward Parker, who in 1853 designed what today is the Architects Building of the Boston Society of Architects at 52 Broad Street, Boston. Evangelical Baptist Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 4, 1986. The Evangelical Baptist Church is still an active congregation.

The Charles Maynard House is a historic house at 459 Crafts Street in Newton, Massachusetts. The house was built in 1897, and is a fine local example of a Queen Anne Victorian with some Colonial Revival styling. It is also notable as the home of naturalist and taxidermist Charles Johnson Maynard. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Nonantum (from Massachusett "I bless it"), also known as Silver Lake or The Lake, is one of the thirteen villages within the city of Newton in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States, located along the Charles River at the site of a former lake. The village is one of the centers of Italian population in Newton. The commercial area has numerous restaurants and food establishments featuring Italian cuisine.

Gore Place is a historic country house, now a museum, located at 52 Gore Street, Waltham, Massachusetts. It is owned and operated by the nonprofit Gore Place Society. The 45-acre (180,000 m2) estate is open to the public daily without charge; an admission fee is charged for house tours. A number of special events are held throughout the year including an annual sheepshearing festival and a summer concert series. The mansion was built in 1806 as a summer home for Massachusetts lawyer and politician Christopher Gore. In this house the Gores entertained various notables including the Marquis de Lafayette, Daniel Webster, and James Monroe. The property was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970 in recognition of its architectural significance as a large-scale Federal style country house, and for its well-preserved domestic staff quarters, which illustrate the changing role of domestic labor over time.

The House at 511 Watertown Street in Newton, Massachusetts is one of the city's finer Colonial Revival houses completed in 1897. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 and is on the border of two of Newton's older villages: Newtonville and Nonantum.

The Capt. Edward Fuller Farm is a historic farmstead at 59-71 North Street in Newton, Massachusetts. The original farmhouse is at #59, and the barn, now converted to a house, is at #71. The house is estimated to have been built c. 1775, possibly using materials from an even older structure; the barn is estimated to have been built in 1800. The house was original 1+1⁄2 stories, and was raised to its present 2+1⁄2 in the 1840s. The barn was converted to residential use c. 1950. The house was probably built by Edward Fuller, whose great-grandfather was one of the first settlers of the area.The properties were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Amos Judkins House is a historic house at 8 Central Avenue in Newton, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1884, and is an excellent and well-preserved example of Queen Anne styling. It has asymmetrical massing, and a variety of gables, projections, and recessed areas that add variety to its external appearance. The exterior is clad in part in clapboards, and in part with decoratively cut wood shingles. The focal point of the front porch is a gable-topped arch.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Adams Street Shul, officially the Congregation Agudas Achim Anshei Sfard, is a Modern Orthodox Jewish synagogue located at 168 Adams Street in the village of Nonantum in Newton, Massachusetts, in the United States. Built in 1912 for a congregation established in 1911, it is home to Newton's oldest Jewish congregation, and one of the oldest in the region still occupying its original synagogue. Its Romanesque Revival-style building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 16, 1990.

Bemis is a neighborhood located in the southwest corner of Watertown, Massachusetts, United States. It is bounded by Main Street to the north, the Charles River to the south, and the City of Waltham to the west. The neighborhood derives its name from Seth Bemis (1775–1851), who ran mills on both sides of the river near Bridge Street, including the Bemis Mill, which is located just across the Charles River at 1–3 Bridge Street, in Newton, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Seth was the father of George Bemis (October 13, 1816 – January 5, 1878), a successful lawyer and legal scholar. Bemis Park is located in this neighborhood.
