Lamonby

Ellonby is a hamlet in the parish of Skelton in the Westmorland and Furness district, in the ceremonial county of Cumbria. To the north of the hamlet, at Hardrigg Hall, a ruined 14th-century pele tower adjoins a 19th-century farmhouse.

Skelton is a small village and civil parish about 7 miles (11 km) north west of Penrith in the English county of Cumbria. It is on the former route of the B5305 road, which is now about 1 mile (2 km) to the north. The parish had a population of 1,059 in 2001, increasing slightly to 1,153 at the 2011 Census.The village has a primary school, pub, and Anglican and Methodist churches. Close to the village is the Skelton transmitting station and the stately home of Hutton-in-the-Forest, the family home of Lord Inglewood. Skelton Agricultural Show is one of the largest in Cumbria and takes place on the first Saturday in July at Hutton-in-the-Forest. The large parish of Skelton includes the villages and hamlets of Ellonby, Ivegill, Lamonby, Unthank, Unthank End, Skelton Wood End, Laithes, Hutton End, Hutton Row, New Rent, Braithwaite and Middlesceugh. In 1934 the parish absorbed the former civil parishes of Hutton-in-the-Forest, and Middlesceugh and Braithwaite, plus part of Dalston. Hutton-in-the-Forest included New Rent, Hutton End and Hutton Row and was bordered on the east by Hesket-in-the-Forest. "Forest" refers to the ancient royal hunting ground of Inglewood Forest which included all of the present-day Skelton.

Johnby is a hamlet in the Eden District, in the English county of Cumbria. It is about 6 miles (9.7 km) from the large town of Penrith and about 1 mile (1.6 km) from the village of Greystoke. The B5305 road, the B5288 road, the A66 road and the M6 motorway are all nearby. Circa 1870, it had a population of 92 as recorded in the Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales.To the south of the hamlet is Johnby Hall, a fortified house or peel tower dating probably from the 14th Century, with alterations and extensions in every century since.

Johnby Hall is a fortified manor house near Greystoke, Cumbria. It was built in 1583, incorporating the fabric of a medieval tower house, and has been extended and modified a number of times since then. It was designated a Grade II* Listed Building in 1967, and is currently run as a bed and breakfast.

Hutton Roof is a hamlet and former civil parish, now in the parish of Mungrisdale, in the Westmorland and Furness district, in the ceremonial county of Cumbria, England, near Penrith. It is at an elevation of 308 metres (1,010 ft), between the valley of the River Caldew and that of its tributary Gillcambon Beck. In 1931 the parish had a population of 108. The civil parish of Mungrisdale, which is made up of eight hamlets including Hutton Roof, had a population of 297 in the 2011 United Kingdom census.

Greystoke Castle is in the village of Greystoke 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) west of Penrith in the county of Cumbria in northern England. (grid reference NY435309). It is owned by the Howard family and is a private residence including a castle and family estate with no public access.

Berrier is a hamlet in Cumbria, England. It is in the civil parish of Mungrisdale, which is made up of eight hamlets and had a population of 297 in the 2011 United Kingdom census. The civil parish of Berrier and Murrah existed from 1866 to 1934, Murrah being a nearby hamlet.

Greystoke is a village and civil parish on the edge of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England, about 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Penrith. At the 2001 census the parish had a population of 642, increasing marginally to 654 at the 2011 Census. The village centres on a green surrounded by stone houses and cottages.

Unthank is a village in the civil parish of Skelton, in Cumbria, England. In 1870-72 the township had a population of 39 as recorded in the Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales.

Ivegill is a small village in Cumbria, England. The village has one place of worship and a school. It is located on an unclassified road near Southwaite services which is on the M6 motorway. It takes its name from the River Ive which flows through the centre of the village. Nearby settlements include the villages of Southwaite, Low Braithwaite, Middlesceugh and Highbridge.

High Head Castle is a large fortified manor house in the English county of Cumbria. It is located between Carlisle and Penrith. The house is now largely a ruin with the exterior walls and certain foundations surviving for the majority of the building. The right hand wing of the building has had a roof re-instated, and may be usable again for the first time since the building burnt down in the 1950s. It is currently not open to the public. It is privately owned, and the owners have now for some time been trying to restore it to its former glory.

Inglewood Forest is a large tract of mainly arable and dairy farm land with a few small woodland areas between Carlisle and Penrith in the English non-metropolitan county of Cumbria or ancient county of Cumberland.
