Saratoga Creek

Calabazas Creek is a 13.3-mile-long (21.4 km) northeast by northward-flowing stream originating on Table Mountain in Saratoga, California in Santa Clara County, California, United States. It courses through the cities of Saratoga, San Jose, Cupertino, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale, culminating in the Guadalupe Slough in south San Francisco Bay.

The Guadalupe River (Spanish: Río Guadalupe; Muwekma Ohlone:Thámien Rúmmey) mainstem is an urban, northward flowing 14 miles (23 km) river in California whose much longer headwater creeks originate in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The river mainstem now begins on the Santa Clara Valley floor when Los Alamitos Creek exits Lake Almaden and joins Guadalupe Creek just downstream of Coleman Road in San Jose, California. From here it flows north through San Jose, where it receives Los Gatos Creek, a major tributary. The Guadalupe River serves as the eastern boundary of the City of Santa Clara and the western boundary of Alviso, and after coursing through San José, it empties into south San Francisco Bay at the Alviso Slough. The Guadalupe River is the southernmost major U.S. river with a Chinook salmon run (see Habitat and Wildlife section below). Much of the river is surrounded by parks. The river's Los Alamitos and Guadalupe Creek tributaries are, in turn, fed by smaller streams flowing from Almaden Quicksilver County Park, home to former mercury mines dating back to when the area was governed by Mexico. The Guadalupe watershed carries precipitation from the slopes of Loma Prieta and Mount Umunhum, the two major peaks of the Sierra Azul, the historical Spanish name ("Blue Mountains") for that half of the Santa Cruz Mountains south of California Highway 17. Two of the Guadalupe River's major tributaries, Los Gatos Creek and Guadalupe Creek have their sources in the Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve on the western and eastern flanks of the Sierra Azul.

GlobalFoundries Inc. (GF or GloFo) is a multinational semiconductor contract manufacturing and design company incorporated in the Cayman Islands and headquartered in Malta, New York. Created by the divestiture of the manufacturing arm of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), the company was privately owned by Mubadala Investment Company, the sovereign wealth fund of the United Arab Emirates, until an initial public offering (IPO) in October 2021. The company manufactures chips designed for markets such as mobility, automotive, computing and wired connectivity, consumer internet of things (IoT) and industrial. As of 2021, GlobalFoundries is the fourth-largest semiconductor manufacturer; it produces chips for more than 7% of the $86 billion semiconductor manufacturing services industry. It is the only one with operations in Singapore, the European Union, and the United States: one 200 mm and one 300 mm fabrication plant in Singapore; one 300 mm plant in Dresden, Germany; one 200 mm plant in Burlington, Vermont (where it is the largest private employer) and two 300 mm plants in the State of New York: one in East Fishkill and one in Malta.GlobalFoundries is a "Trusted Foundry" for the U.S. federal government and has similar designations in Singapore and Germany, including certified international Common Criteria standard (ISO 15408, CC Version 3.1).On October 28, 2021, the company sold shares in an IPO on the Nasdaq stock exchange at US$47 a piece, at the higher end of its targeted price range, and raised about US$2.6 billion.

Old Ironsides is a light rail station in Santa Clara, California operated by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) as part of the VTA Light Rail system. Old Ironsides is served by the Orange Line and is the northern terminal of the Green Line. Immediately west of the station site is a pocket track and double crossover, allowing Green Line trains to switch between tracks and enabling the storage of three, 3-car trains to mobilize trains quickly after the end of an event at Levi's Stadium.Old Ironsides station is closed for up to 60 minutes after the events at the nearby Levi's Stadium to prevent crowds from overwhelming the station. VTA's Great America station (which is located closer to the stadium) has additional facilities to handle large crowds.

The Santa Clara Convention Center is located in northern Santa Clara, California. It serves as one of the large meeting and convention facilities in Silicon Valley, with 262,000 square feet (24,300 m2) of meeting space. It was built in 1986 and expanded in 2009. The convention center is located in the same complex as the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara and the Santa Clara TechMart conference center. It is adjacent to the VTA Great America light rail station and across the street from the Great America theme park.

Great America is a light rail station operated by Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). Great America is served by the Orange and Green light rail lines. Great America is named for the nearby California's Great America theme park and is the closest station to Levi's Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers. From the station platforms, the entrance to Levi's Stadium is a 0.2-mile (0.32 km) walk and the entrance to the Great America theme park is a 0.4-mile (0.64 km) walk. Improvements were made to the station ahead of the July 2014 opening of Levi's Stadium, including adding an “event only” side platform south of the eastbound track. During normal operations, this platform is not used and gates prevent access. After the end of a game, the platform is opened and used for eastbound and southbound departures, while the normal island platform is used only for westbound departures. During very busy events, the new platform has multiple gates, and customers are asked to queue in different lines based on their destination to facilitate rapid loading of trains.A pocket track was also added between the Reamwood and Old Ironsides stations, enabling the storage of three, 3-car trains to mobilize trains quickly after the end of an event at Levi's Stadium.Despite the similar names, this station is not the recommended transfer point for the Santa Clara – Great America station used by Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) commuter rail and Capitol Corridor inter-city rail trains as the walk between the stations is about 0.6 miles (0.97 km). VTA advises passengers to use Lick Mill station, which is only 0.2 miles (0.32 km) away from the ACE/Capitol Corridor station.

Anything's Possible is a public artwork by artist Linda Serrao, located by Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, United States. Anything's Possible is an installation of two over-lifesize bronze figures, commissioned by the City of Santa Clara. The installation depicts a 7' Quarterback preparing to pass the football to a young fan.

The Balaji Temple of San Jose is a Hindu temple located in San Jose, California. Balaji Temple is a spiritual, non-profit organization dedicated to sharing the universal truths of the Vedas and Upanishads in India. The temple was established by Swami Narayananda in the year 2006 in Sunnyvale. The permanent center in San Jose was inaugurated in the year 2012 from May 30 - June 3. The ceremony was attended by Dave Cortese, serving on the Santa Clara Board of Supervisors and the Mayors of Milpitas and Sunnyvale. The temple also received a certification of recognition from the California State Assembly for the contribution to the community.In 2010, Balaji temple opened a sister center in Bangalore, India that's helping the community by offering free yoga classes and Meditation. The temple also received a donation of 23 acre land in Hollister, CA, and is used for retreats. The temple inaugurated a shrine dedicated to Sai Baba and Panduranga deities in 2013.Balaji temple celebrates all major Hindu Festivals like Shiv Rathri, Navrathri, Diwali. The Temple’s annual Guruvandana Puja is celebrated to glorify God and honor the Guru for the services rendered to the welfare of the people and the community.

BioCurious is a community biology laboratory and nonprofit organization located in Sunnyvale, California, co-founded by Eri Gentry, Kristina Hathaway, Josh Perfetto, Raymond McCauley, Joseph Jackson, and Tito Jankowski. With the help of Kickstarter and 239 backers they raised $35,319. BioCurious is a complete working laboratory and technical library for entrepreneurs to access equipment, materials, and co-working space, and a meeting place for citizen scientists, hobbyists, activists, and students. Scientific American magazine has described BioCurious as "one of country’s premier community biotechnology labs [...]".The lab debuted on Kickstarter in 2010 and raised $35,319 from backers, and opened in October 2011. BioCurious has supported projects including a 3D Bioprinter, glow-in-the-dark plants. In 2016 BioCurious partnered with The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose to host Geektoberfest for beer enthusiasts, beer brewers, and scientists to learn the biology of beer with talks, demos and beer tastings.BioCurious is part of a thriving bioeconomy and is active in promoting the role of community biology labs innovation and entrepreneurship. BioCurious is part of the international conversation about how biology will fundamentally change our world, and has attended White House Makerspace meetings that highlight the growing importance of DIY spaces in the economy. Part of this role is in providing space and resources for both early-stage startup companies or interested students and holds its own ambitious community group projects, such as real vegan cheese (in collaboration with Counter Culture Labs), the DIY bioprinter project, microfluidics, and consulting on discussions in biosecurity.

Alviso is a district of San Jose, California, located in North San Jose on the southern shores of San Francisco Bay. Originally an independent town, founded in 1852, today Alviso is San Jose's only waterfront district, primarily residential in nature, with several Silicon Valley tech companies and recreation-oriented businesses. Alviso is named after 19th-century Californio ranchero Ignacio Alviso, who owned the area as part of his Rancho Rincón de Los Esteros. The Guadalupe River separates Alviso from Santa Clara and Sunnyvale to the west, while Coyote Creek separates Alviso from Milpitas to the east. Alviso is the lowest point in the San Francisco Bay Area at 13 feet (4.0 m) below sea level.

Levi's Stadium is an American football stadium located in Santa Clara, California, just outside San Jose in the San Francisco Bay Area. It has served as the home venue for the National Football League (NFL)'s San Francisco 49ers since 2014. The stadium is located approximately 40 miles (64 km) south of San Francisco. It is named after Levi Strauss & Co., which purchased naming rights in 2013. In 2006, the 49ers proposed constructing a new stadium at Candlestick Point in San Francisco, the site of their erstwhile home, Candlestick Park. The project, which included plans for retail space and housing improvements, was claimed to be of great potential benefit to the nearby historically blighted neighborhood of Hunters Point. After negotiations with the city of San Francisco fell through, the 49ers focused their attention on a site adjacent to their administrative offices and training facility in Santa Clara. In June 2010, Santa Clara voters approved a measure authorizing the creation of the tax-exempt Santa Clara Stadium Authority to build and own the new football stadium and for the city to lease land to the authority. A construction loan raised from private investors was secured in December 2011, allowing construction to start in April 2012. Levi's Stadium opened on July 17, 2014.Levi's Stadium was the site of the Pac-12 Football Championship Game from 2014 through 2019 before moving to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Previously, that game was played on the home field of the division winner possessing the better record. Levi's Stadium hosted Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016. It also hosted the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship.

Santa Clara – Great America station (called Great America station by ACE) is a train station in Santa Clara, California. It hosts Amtrak's Capitol Corridor trains and Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) trains. The station is close to Levi's Stadium and California's Great America. Amtrak service to Santa Clara began on May 21, 1993.Of the 75 California stations served by Amtrak, Great America was the 20th-busiest in FY2019, boarding or detraining an average of about 533 passengers daily.
