Carrollton is an unincorporated community in Carroll County, Arkansas, United States. Once designated the county seat, it had a population near the 10,000 mark in the 1850s. It has now 30 residents and a historically significant past.

Alpena is a town in Boone and Carroll counties in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The population was 374 at the 2020 census. The Boone County portion of Alpena is part of the Harrison Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The Dog Branch School is a historic one-room schoolhouse building in rural southeastern Carroll County, Arkansas. It is located about 3 miles (4.8 km) east of the hamlet of Osage, a short way south of United States Route 412 off County Road 927. It is a single story gable-roofed structure, built out of rough-hewn fieldstone. It has a very limited, vernacular amount of Romanesque Revival and Italianate features, including an arched entry opening and segmented-arch openings for the windows. The school was built in 1898, and is unusual mainly because most district schools built in the region at the time were built out of wood. Its builders, the Bailey Brothers, also built the Stamps Store in Osage. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Batavia Township is one of 20 current townships in Boone County, Arkansas, USA. As of the 2010 census, its total population was 911. Batavia, Arkansas was settled in 1881 by Roswell Emerson Underwood, who spent four years as a Genesee County, New York, surveyor for the Holland Land Company. He was impressed by the beauty of this site which is located in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. He was the first postmaster, and named the town for Batavia, New York, his former residence.

Little Arkansaw (also known as Jennings) is an unincorporated community in Boone County, Arkansas, United States. Little Arkansaw is located on Arkansas Highway 392 near its junction with U.S. Route 62 and U.S. Route 412, 3.1 miles (5.0 km) east of Alpena.

Batavia is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Boone County, Arkansas, United States. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 328. Batavia is located on Arkansas Highway 392, 5.0 miles (8.0 km) west-northwest of Harrison. Batavia was formerly an incorporated town. In 1880, Roswell Underwood established the first post office in the former town, which he named Batavia after his hometown of Batavia, New York. The town was laid out in blocks. The first house on Main Street was built in 1912. [Arkansas State Highway 392] is where Main Street was once located. The post office was closed in 1955. During its heyday, businesses included stores, hotels, a canning factory, a train depot, stockyards, mills, a corn gristmill, and a blacksmith shop. There was also a school and churches. By 1926, the passenger railroad stopped going through Batavia. While the community is larger in terms of population and homes than it was as an incorporated town, there are fewer businesses. Batavia township still exists (see township population history) without any current incorporated towns inside of it.

Osage Township is one of twenty-one current townships in Carroll County, Arkansas, USA. As of the 2010 census, its total population was 418. Osage Township was formed prior to 1870; the exact date is unknown since county records were lost.

The Stamps Store is a historic commercial building on Arkansas Highway 103 in Osage, Arkansas, a hamlet off United States Route 412 between Alpena and Huntsville. It is a 2+1⁄2-story stone structure, with a front-gable roof, and vernacular Romanesque Revival styling. The first floor was originally a large open retail space used as a general store, the second floor was a residential space for the proprietor, and the upper half-story was a meeting space. It was built 1899-1902 by Willie and Millie Sneed, and was operated by the Stamps family from 1912 to 1990. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 for its architecture and its historical importance to the small community.

Osage is an unincorporated community in Carroll County, in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The community is on the south side of Osage Creek at the junction of Osage and Kenner Creeks. U.S. Route 412 (US 412) passes on the north side of Osage Creek.
