Twyford Down

Chilcomb is a small village and civil parish in the English county of Hampshire 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Winchester and includes the South Downs Way long-distance footpath.

Magdalen Hill Down is a chalk downland hill, situated 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to the east of the centre of the city of Winchester in the English county of Hampshire. It is crossed by the B3404 road, the old main road from Winchester to London via New Alresford and Guildford. Most of the land to the south of the road is now a reserve run by the Butterfly Conservation, but part of it is used by the Magdalen Hill Cemetery, Winchester's principal cemetery. The land to the north of the road is largely farmed, but is also home to St Swithun's School and Leigh House Hospital.The down lies in the Winchester district, mostly within the parish of Chilcomb. At its highest point, the down reaches 124 metres (407 ft) above mean sea level.

Morestead is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Owslebury, in the Winchester district, in Hampshire, England. It is in the South Downs, about 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Winchester. In 1931 the parish had a population of 96. On 1 April 1932 the parish was abolished and merged with Owslebury.The village lies on rising downland adjacent to the ancient Roman road from Portchester to Winchester. Morestead is predominantly a farming community and there are racehorse training stables. The ancient Parish Church has no known dedication. Parts of the structure date from around 1150 while the font dates from around 1200. The church underwent an extensive rebuild in 1873.Next to the church is the former rectory built in the mid 1830s.

Magdalen Hill Cemetery, also known as Morn Hill Cemetery, is a cemetery principally serving the burial requirements of the unparished area of the city of Winchester but located on Magdalen Hill Down in the adjoining civil parish of Chilcomb. It is owned and managed by Winchester City Council and is Grade II listed in the parks and gardens category.

Winchester Science Centre (known as INTECH Science Centre until 2013) is a hands-on educational science and technology centre located at Morn Hill near Chilcomb, three miles from the city of Winchester in Hampshire, England. The centre houses a range of interactive exhibits, aimed at a core audience of children aged 5–12 years old and has over 185,000 annual visitors. The dome's planetarium seats 176 and is the UK's largest standalone planetarium.The centre is operated by Wonderseekers, a registered charity in England and Wales.

St Swithun's School is an independent day, weekly and full-boarding school for girls in Winchester, Hampshire. It is named after Saint Swithun, a Bishop of Winchester and patron saint of Winchester Cathedral.

Bar End is an area of Winchester, Hampshire, England. It lies on the east bank of the River Itchen to the north of St. Catherine's Hill and is the location of a park and ride car park serving the city centre.

Winnall is a northern suburb of Winchester, Hampshire, England, on the east bank of the River Itchen. It is the location of the Winnall Moors nature reserve on the flood-plain of the Itchen and the University of Southampton's Erasmus Park hall of residence. Winnall is also the location of St Swithun's School, Winnal Primary school and Winchester's main industrial estate, occupying land between the A34 and the former Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway, by junction 9 of the M3. The name is presumed to derive from Wilighealh, a Saxon name probably relating to willows, mentioned in the Domesday Book as part of nearby Chilcomb. It appears in its modern spelling on a 1575 map by Saxton. Winnall was an ancient parish (incorporating that of St Giles by the late 13th century), but was later absorbed by Winchester, and is not a modern civil parish.

Black Rat is a restaurant located in Winchester, Hampshire, England. As of 2021, the restaurant lost its one star in the Michelin Guide that had been held since 2011. The restaurant closed in 2022.

Winchester (Chesil) railway station was, for the first six years after the opening of the line, the terminus of the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway (DNSR), until the line was extended to link up with the Southern Railway line to Southampton. The station buildings were larger than those of any other DNSR station but were built to the standard designs used by the Great Western Railway (GWR). The station buildings were located on the northbound platform. At the northern end of the station the line passed into the double tracked Chesil Tunnel. The station also included a loading bay and single siding at its southern end accessible from the northbound line.

Twyford Waterworks is a preserved pumping station and waterworks situated close to the village of Twyford and the city of Winchester in Hampshire, England. It is a scheduled monument and now operates as a museum. The site is leased by the Twyford Waterworks Trust and is open on selected days during the year.The waterworks were originally built for the South Hampshire Water Company in 1898 to supply water to Winchester and Southampton. They were extended over the years, including in 1913 to accommodate a new steam engine and boilers, and again in 1930s. The site passed to the Southern Water Authority in 1974, the year after it had been scheduled as a monument. The redundant parts of the site were leased to the Twyford Waterworks Trust in 1992.
