Rachelsee is a lake in the Bavarian Forest, Bavaria, Germany. It lies at an elevation of 1071 metres and has a surface area of 5.7 hectares.

Waldhäuserriegel (1151 m) is a mountain of Bavaria, Germany. It is located northeast of the city of Grafenau and lies in the protected Core Zone of the Bavarian Forest National Park, only two kilometers from the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. The summit is above the tree line, but the slopes are almost completely covered in coniferous alpine forest. The nearest settlement is the district of Waldhäuser in the community of Neuschönau. The nearest mountains are Lusen (1373 m) to the northeast and Hohlstein to the east (1196 m).

The Großer Rachel or Great Rachel is a mountain, 1,452 m above sea level (NHN); it is the second highest summit in the Bavarian Forest and Bohemian Forest after the Großer Arber and the highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest National Park. Together with the Kleiner Rachel or Little Rachel, 900 metres to the northwest, it forms the mountain of Rachel (Czech: Roklan).

Lusen (Czech: Luzný) is a mountain in Bavaria (Germany) and in the Plzeň Region of (Czech Republic) with a peak of 1373 metres. It is the sixth-highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest National Park/Bohemian Forest, behind the Großer Rachel, Kleiner Rachel, Kleiner Arber, Plattenhausenriegel and Großer Arber. Its peak is about 4,450 feet (1,360 m) south of the Czech Republic–Germany border. Streams forming on the north side become tributaries of the Vydra. The Lusen is popular for hiking in summer and winter. There is a winter trail which is usually cleared of snow. The Bavarian Forest National Park (German: Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald) is a national park in the Eastern Bavarian Forest immediately on Germany's border with the Czech Republic. It was founded on 7 October 1970 as the first national park in Germany. Since its expansion on 1 August 1997 it has covered an area of 24,250 hectares. Together with the neighbouring Czech Bohemian Forest the Bavarian Forest forms the largest contiguous area of forest in Central Europe.

The Bienstand, in several histories and novels called the Bistand, is a low mountain ridge, 865 m high, in the Bavarian Forest between the villages of Sankt Oswald-Riedlhütte and Grafenau, immediately south of the clearly higher mountains of the Rachel and Lusen, which lie within the Bavarian Forest National Park. Its name probably comes from the Middle High German ("bien"="near" and "stand"="forest pasture", see also Kirchlinger Stand) and means "near the forest pasture".
