Oberreintalschrofen

The Schüsselkarspitze is a peak in the eastern Wetterstein Mountains. It is one of the best-known climbing peaks in the Northern Limestone Alps. It has a multitude of challenging climbing routes, especially through the mighty slabs (Plattenfluchten) of the south face. In the vicinity of the summit is a permanent bothy where climbers may take refuge in emergencies. The Schüsselkarspitze was first climbed in 1894 by Heinrich Moser and Oscar Schuster who assailed its north flank. The Dreitorspitze is a large and very prominent, multi-peak mountain massif in the eastern part of the Wetterstein Mountains in southern Germany. It is divided into Partenkirchen Dreitorspitze (German: Partenkirchener Dreitorspitze) at 2,633 metres (8,638 ft) and Leutasch Dreitorspitze (German:Leutascher Dreitorspitze) at 2,682 metres (8,799 ft); each of which has several peaks. The main peak of the fourth highest mountain massif in Germany is the Leutasch Dreitorspitze, which is also known as the Karlspitze. The Dreitorspitze marks the spot where the main chain of the Wetterstein mountains changes direction from its primary east–west orientation to run northwards for a short distance, before turning back again onto its main axis. East of the Dreitorspitze lies the karst plateau of the Leutasch Platt, comparable to the Zugspitzplatt at the foot of the Zugspitze. The easiest route to the main peaks may be climbed at grades 1 and 2. An easy Klettersteig runs up to the western summit of the Partenkirchen Dreitorspitze, secured with cables, which is named after the famous explorer of the Northern Limestone Alps, Hermann von Barth. All the other peaks are reserved for climbers. Climbing the peaks is usually part of a two-day tour with an overnight stop at the Meilerhütte hut. A one-day tour requires climbers to be in very good condition. The King's House on Schachen (German: Königshaus am Schachen) is a small villa (Schlösschen) at Schachen, Wetterstein Formation, about 10 km south of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, Germany, built by Ludwig II of Bavaria. The castle was constructed between 1869 and 1872.

The Hinterreintalschrofen is a 2,669 m high peak on the main, east-west oriented crest (the Teufelsgrat or "Devil's Ridge") of the Wetterstein Mountains in the Eastern Alps. It is a massive and dominant mountain with a high rock face that plunges into the Reintal valley to the north and stamps the appearance of the Wetterstein when seen from the north. In spite of that, the mountain is rarely climbed. Its neighbouring peaks are the Hochwanner (2,746 m) to the west and the Hundstallköpfe (2,533 m) to the east. The Teufelsgrat runs along the national border between the Austrian state of Tyrol, (Gaistal) in the south and the German state of Bavaria, (Reintal) in the north.

The Wetterstein mountains (German: Wettersteingebirge), colloquially called Wetterstein, is a mountain group in the Northern Limestone Alps within the Eastern Alps. It is a comparatively compact range located between Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Mittenwald, Seefeld in Tirol and Ehrwald along the border between Germany (Bavaria) and Austria (Tyrol). Zugspitze, the highest peak is at the same time the highest mountain in Germany.The Wetterstein mountains are an ideal region for mountaineers and climbers. Mountain walkers sometimes need to allow for significant differences in elevation. The proximity of the range to the south German centres of population, the scenic landscape and its good network of cable cars and lifts mean that the mountains are heavily frequented by tourists for most of the year. There are, however, places in the Wetterstein that are rarely or never visited by people.

At 2,744 metres (9,003 ft), the Hochwanner (formerly: Kothbachspitze) is the second highest mountain in Germany after the Zugspitze (if the somewhat higher Schneefernerkopf is only considered as a sub-peak of the Zugspitze). In addition the Hochwanner is the highest peak on the main ridge of the Wetterstein (Wettersteinhauptkamm) running from Gatterl to the Upper Wettersteinspitze (Oberen Wettersteinspitze) above Mittenwald in an east–west direction. From the Hochwanner massif there is an all-round view of the Rein valley (Reintal), the Leutasch valley in Austria, the Gais valley, the Zugspitze, the Mieming Chain, the Jubiläumsgrat, the Karwendel mountains and far into the central Alps.Despite being the second highest peak in Germany and having a north face which drops about 1500 m (one of the highest rock faces in the whole of the Northern Limestone Alps) the Hochwanner has remained a relatively unknown mountain. This is due to its relatively inaccessible location, behind the Alpspitze and hidden by the Höllentalspitze. The more widely known, but lower Watzmann is often wrongly cited as the second highest mountain in Germany. The easiest route to the summit is from the south from the Rotmoosalm (3 hours) or from Gatterl. Pathless in places or only recognisable by a faint trail it initially runs up steep grass meadows, later over a short rock climb (grade I on the UIAA scale) and then mainly over steep, laborious scree slopes to the summit. The route is sparingly marked with cairns. The north face is a very long climb. Hochwanner was first climbed by Hermann von Barth in 1870.

Leutasch is a municipality in the northern part of the district Innsbruck-Land in the Austrian state of Tyrol about 30 km northwest of Innsbruck and 10 km northwest of Seefeld in Tirol

Bernadeinkopf (elevation 2,143 m (7,031 ft)) is a summit of the Wetterstein range in the German state of Bavaria.

The Hohe Munde is a 2,662-metre-high (8,734 ft) mountain at the eastern end of the Mieming Chain in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It has two peaks: the west top (2,662 m) and the east top or Mundekopf (2,592 m).

The Kreuzeck is a mountain in the Wetterstein mountain range of Bavaria, Germany with an elevation of 1,651 m (5,417 ft) above sea level. It is part of the present-day Garmisch Classic ski resort. The first ski area at Kreuzeck 1,340 m (4,396 ft) was developed for the 1936 Winter Olympics in neighboring Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the first Olympics to feature alpine skiing. The sole event was the combined, with one downhill run and two runs of slalom. The Kreuzeck valley base station served as finish line for the downhill, while the slalom was run at Gudiberg, adjacent to the ski jumping hill, Große Olympiaschanze. The Kreuzeck featured Germany's first Mountain Gondola (Kreuzeckbahn 1926) which made the Kreuzeck range the alpine portal to the neighboring areas of the Kreuzjoch, the Alpspitze, and the Höllental and provided the infrastructure to host the downhill event for the 1936 Winter Olympics. The original Olympic course is still maintained and accessible. The current downhill course garnered notoriety as a designated "Kandahar" event and continues to host World Cup events in downhill, super G, and giant slalom. It hosted the World Championships in 1978 and 2011.

The Alpspitze is a mountain, 2628 m, in Bavaria, Germany. Its pyramidal peak is the symbol of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and is one of the best known and most attractive mountains of the Northern Limestone Alps. It is made predominantly of Wetterstein limestone from the Upper Triassic.

The Reintalanger Hut (1,366 m) is an Alpine Club hut in the Wetterstein Mountains at the head of the Reintal valley. The River Partnach has its source in the vicinity. West of the hut the valley floor climbs steeply up to the plateau of the Zugspitzplatt below Germany's highest mountain. The hut belongs to the Munich section of the German Alpine Club and the administrative district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It was built in 1912 and is a Category 1 hut. The house has 132 bedspaces and is managed from the end of May to mid-October.
