Terling (pronounced Ter-ling) is a village and civil parish in the county of Essex, England, between Braintree to the north, Chelmsford to the south-west and Witham to the east.

White Notley is a parish in Essex, England. The settlement (which includes the outlying hamlet of The Green) lies equidistant between the towns of Witham and Braintree amongst arable farmland, 4 miles (6.4 km) in each direction. White Notley is a quintessentially English village with a small primary school, public house, railway station, post office, village hall and a 10th-century church. The village has a population of fewer than five hundred inhabitants, but at the 2011 Census the population of the civil parish was measured at 522. Railway service is provided at the White Notley railway station on the Braintree Branch Line. It forms part of the Parliamentary Constituency of Witham.

Terling Place is a country house within the civil parish of Terling, Essex, England, located to the south of All Saints' Church, Terling. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a Grade II listed building.It was built for John Strutt, MP between 1772 and 1777 to the designs of John Johnson. The wings, a new porch, a two-storey saloon (with a gallery, and a frieze based on the Elgin Marbles) and a library were added between 1818 and 1824. The house was redecorated in 1850, when a conservatory was added. It is a Grade II* listed building.From John Strutt the house passed to his eldest surviving son, Joseph, whose wife Lady Charlotte FitzGerald was created Baroness Rayleigh in 1821. The 3rd Lord Rayleigh established a laboratory in the west wing, which remains to this day. Indeed, he used apparatus from this laboratory to isolate argon in the cellar of Terling Place in 1894, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1904.

Black Notley is a village and civil parish in Essex, England. It is located approximately 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) south of Braintree and is 9 miles (14 km) north-northeast from the county town of Chelmsford. According to the 2011 census including Young's End it had a population of 2,478.

Its three-letter station code is CES. The platform has an operational length for nine-coach trains. The station is currently managed by Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains serving it.

There are two timber framed and plastered Grade II listed houses in Fuller Street: The Herons dating to the 17th century, and The Stores to c.1590.

In 2018/19 it was the least used station in Essex.The station is currently managed by Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains serving it. Braintree Sixth Form is a school Sixth Form centre for educating 16- to 19-year-olds in Braintree, Essex, England. It is located approximately 15 miles east of Stansted Airport in north Essex. Up until 1981 post 16 education in Braintree took place in Sixth Forms located in each of the town's schools. In 1981 Essex County Council closed the separate Sixth Forms at the Schools in Braintree and moved post 16 education to a new purpose-built FE (Further Education) college, Braintree College, later becoming part of the Colchester Institute. The opening of Braintree Sixth Form in 2009 marked a return to school-based Sixth Form education in Braintree.

Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form is situated in Braintree in Essex, England. The school was built in the early 1970s. Notley High School was an 11-18 school with sixth form until 1992, when the sixth was closed and all sixth form pupils went to the new Braintree Tertiary College. It was then for ages 11–16 school until September 2009, when Braintree Sixth Form opened for 16- to 19-year-old students. In August 2009, the school became an academy. Notley High School is the lead partner in the Braintree Sixth Form, which is a purpose-built post-16 provision for the youth of Braintree. It opened in September 2009 admitting students from Notley High School and other local schools. Recent Ofsted visits reported the school as “inadequate”.
