New Westminster Secondary School is a secondary school in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. It is one of the largest high schools in British Columbia. Enrollment of students is open to those within grades 9 through 12. The school is home to programs such as the International Baccalaureate program and a 1 year apprenticeship program. In 2007, the Fraser Institute ranked the school well within the top 50 secondary schools in British Columbia. This was out of the 279 public and private secondary schools operating in the province. The School is located in Metro Vancouver in BC's Lower Mainland region while the campus is centrally located within the region on the north side of the city of New Westminster. It encompasses an area of three city blocks by two city blocks.

Robert Burnaby Park is a 48 hectare public park in East Burnaby, just south of Burnaby Lake, located off Edmonds and 4th Street in British Columbia, Canada. It is open all year around from dawn to dusk. It has an extensive trail system, as well as tennis courts and a swimming pool in the cleared upper slope area. The north end of the park contains the Robert Burnaby Park Disc Golf Course, one of only a handful in Metro Vancouver. It is a favourite picnic spot for many residents of Burnaby and New Westminster. Dogs are welcome in the park as long as they are on leash and are kept out of areas marked ecologically sensitive. There is also an off-leash zone for dogs in the northern part of the park. Propane barbeques as well as charcoal and open fire barbeques are allowed in the park. Hot ash can be disposed of in the ash pits within the park.Ramsay Creek winds its way through the park, similar to many streams originating on the southern sloping hillside of Burnaby Lake and flowing into it. The park is named for the colonial businessman Robert Burnaby, the founding father of Burnaby. It was created as a public works project during the Great Depression.

Robert Burnaby Park Disc Golf Course is a 10-hole disc golf course located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The course was designed by Jim Brown in 1999. It is one of only a handful of disc golf courses in the Vancouver area.

The cathedral is the mother church of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of New Westminster (Latin: Eparchia Neo-Vestmonasteriensis Ucrainorum; Ukrainian: Українська Католицька Єпархія Нью Вестмінстера) which was created in 1974 by the bull "Cum territorii" of Pope Paul VI. It is one of the 2 Catholic cathedrals in the Vancouver area, the other being that of the Holy Rosary that follows the Roman or Latin Rite of the Catholic Church. In 2018 the cathedral received 2 pieces of Mother Teresa of Calcutta's hair, so the creation of a reliquary was commissioned to protect themIts current administrator is the Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski.

Queen's Park Arena is a 3,500 seat multi-use arena located within Queen's Park in New Westminster, British Columbia.The arena was built in 1930 and opened on September 19. In its time, the Queen's Park Arena hosted the New Westminster Bruins of the Western Hockey League and British Columbia Junior Hockey League teams the New Westminster Royals and the Royal City Outlaws. It hosted the New Westminster Lacrosse teams for more than 75 years, including the multi-Mann Cup champion New Westminster Salmonbellies of the Western Lacrosse Association, and has a wooden floor for lacrosse known for its green colour.The arena was also home to the professional New Westminster Royals, which played in the Pacific Coast Hockey League from 1945 to 1952 and the Western Hockey League from 1952 to 1959. In 1949, team director Doug Grimston insisted on the continuation of a smoking ban at the arena, and stated that he would take financial responsibility for lost attendance.The arena was used in the 2004 film Miracle, as the location of tryouts for the United States men's national ice hockey team in advance of the 1980 Winter Olympics.

The New Westminster Salmonbellies are a Men's Senior 'A' lacrosse team located in New Westminster, BC. Their home arena is Queen's Park Arena. They compete as part of the Western Lacrosse Association and have won the Mann Cup 24 times, most recently in 1991. The 1968–1972 teams were collectively inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2004. They won their first Mann Cup in 1915. Prior to 1932, they played as a field lacrosse team but in May 1932 box lacrosse was adopted for the senior league in British Columbia - and the Salmonbellies have been a box lacrosse team since then. The Salmonbellies have won the Mann Cup more than any other lacrosse team. They had won at least one Mann Cup in every decade since the inception of the trophy, before the 2000s. Salmonbellie Alumni Paul Parnell, Wayne Goss, Eric Cowieson, Jack Bionda, Cliff Sepka, Dave Durante and Geordie Dean have all had their numbers retired by the team. There are more Salmonbellies alumni in the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame than from any other team. The Salmonbellie name arose from a taunt given by an opposing team's fan during an early game. The fan called the New West team "salmonbellies" referring to the fact that salmon was considered a lowly food at the time. But the players liked the name, concluding that the belly was the prime portion on the fish, so the name was adopted and has stuck for over a century. Curiously, the name is never spelled with a "y" even when one writes about an individual "Salmonbellie."Salmonbellies vs. the World: The Story of Lacrosse's Most Famous Team & Their Greatest Opponents (Caitlin Press, 2013) by W.B. Queen's Park is a neighbourhood and community park in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. The recreational area and tourist attraction dates from 1887. The park is 75 acres (300,000 m2) in extent, and is located north east of the city hall. The park houses Queen's Park Arena, current home of the New Westminster Salmonbellies, a stadium, seasonal animal petting farm, spray park, tennis courts, sports fields and band shell. Queen's Park residential area is to the southwest of the park, bounded on the northwest by 6th Avenue, on the southwest by 6th Street, on the southeast by Royal Avenue, and on the north by the park itself.

Queen's Park Stadium is a multi-use stadium located within Queen's Park in New Westminster, British Columbia. Its primary use is for baseball and civic events, but it also sees usage as a training ground for a variety of other New Westminster sports clubs. The stadium grounds are used for two of the main events of the annual Hyack Festival in New Westminster, the May Day dances, and the Anvil Battery Salute.In 2014, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC soccer club attempted to reach an agreement with the City of New Westminster to rebuild/renovate Queen's Park stadium to be a suitable venue for their second team in the USL Pro league. The proposal was eventually rejected due to the city's unwillingness to make an eleven million dollar investment for the new facilities, alongside public opposition from residents of the Queen's Park neighbourhood, and the larger baseball community as a whole.

The Armoury also called The Armouries is a Canadian Forces armoury located at 530 Queens Avenue (at the corner of 6th Street) in New Westminster, British Columbia and it is the oldest active wooden military structure in Canada. It is the home of The Royal Westminster Regiment, an infantry reserve regiment.

New Westminster (colloquially known as New West) is a city in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. It was founded by Major-General Richard Moody as the capital of the Colony of British Columbia in 1858 and continued in that role until the Mainland and Island colonies were merged in 1866. It was the British Columbia Mainland's largest city from that year until it was passed in population by Vancouver during the first decade of the 20th century. It is located on the banks of the Fraser River as it turns southwest towards its estuary, on the southwest side of the Burrard Peninsula and roughly at the centre of the Greater Vancouver region.
