North Thormanby Island

Buccaneer Bay Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, located 17 km west of Sechelt on North Thormanby Island, offshore from the community of Halfmoon Bay.

South Thormanby Island (sx̱welap in she shashishalhem) is an island off the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada, located 17 km west of Sechelt, and within the shared territories of the Tla'amin Nation and the shíshálh Nation. Simson Provincial Park, established in 1986 and named after pioneer Calvert Simson, occupies the majority of the southern part of South Thormanby Island. The northern half of the island is predominately private property, with a concentration of seasonal cottages along Buccaneer Bay and Water Bay.

The park is 461 acres (1.87 km2) of mostly forested land, though it also contains the remains of an abandoned farm and orchard. The park is only accessible by sea. It takes its name from pioneer Calvert Simson whose family donated the land in order to create the park.

Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada located approximately 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) west of Sechelt, a city on the Sunshine Coast. Smuggler Cove is a small, picturesque all-weather anchorage on the south side of Sechelt Peninsula near Secret Cove. The park provides opportunities for hiking, swimming, kayaking and picnicking. The park draws many boaters and sightseers every year to the protected cove. Many come to explore the many bays of the area, rock cliffs and beach areas. The marine park is considered a wetland park so there are some very sensitive ecological areas along the path designed to protect the ecosystem.

Redroofs is an unincorporated settlement in British Columbia, located south of Halfmoon Bay on the Sunshine Coast.

Halfmoon Bay (xwilkway in she shashishalhem) is a small community in British Columbia, Canada, within the shíshálh swiya (the lands, birthplace, or "Territory" of the shíshálh Nation), and Electoral Area B of the Sunshine Coast Regional District. The population consists of approximately 2,800 people, including a large number of seasonal residents. The community is named for the large scalloped bay on which it sits, which is sheltered by South Thormanby Island and Vancouver Island. The community can be access via Redrooffs Road, so-named after a popular local resort which once featured a cluster of cabins, all with red roofs. Some homes are also located off Highway 101. Halfmoon Bay Elementary School, the community's only elementary school, has 200–300 students ranging from kindergarten to grade seven. The school performs extremely well for one of its size, achieving BC Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) scores above those of many private schools. Halfmoon bay secondary students may choose to attend one of the three local high schools: Pender Harbour Secondary, Chatelech Secondary, and Elphinstone Secondary. Halfmoon Bay was once named Priestland Bay after the Priestland family who settled in the area in 1899. Its present-day English name comes from the shape of the bay.

Established in 2004, the park is 81 ha. in size, 72 ha. of it upland, the other 9 ha. foreshore.

Madeira Park is an unincorporated community in the area of Pender Harbour on the Sunshine Coast of southwestern British Columbia, Canada. It is named after the pioneer Jose Gonzalos, a native of the Madeira Islands who settled in the area in the early 1900s.: 161 

Pender Harbour (ḵalpilin in she shashishalhem) is a harbour on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, on the east side of Malaspina Strait. The name Pender Harbour also refers collectively to the surrounding unincorporated communities of Madeira Park, Kleindale, Irvines Landing, and Garden Bay, within the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD).The harbour itself is an intricate amalgam of bays and coves that encroach inland for five kilometres and provide over 60 kilometres of shoreline. Once a vibrant shíshálh village site, steamer stop, a fishing village, and an important logging and medical waypoint, it is now home to a population of under 3,000, with over 40% of property owners being non-resident (one of them Joni Mitchell, since the early 1970s). Tourism is an important part of the local economy. The area has an arts community and several annual music festivals. It hosts the second-oldest May Day celebration in British Columbia [1] and the biggest and longest-running downhill longboard race in Canada, Attack of Danger Bay.
