Rancho Santa Rita (Malo)

Santa Rita is a former settlement in Santa Barbara County, California. It was located in the Santa Rita Valley 7.5 miles (12 km) east of Lompoc.Santa Rita was named for its location on the former Santa Rita land grant, dated April 10, 1839. The land grant was named for Santa Rita de Cassis, an Augustinian whose feast day is May 22.The Santa Rita post office operated from 1909 to 1914.

Mission La Purísima Concepción, or La Purísima Mission (originally La Misión de la Purísima Concepción de la Santísima Virgen María, or The Mission of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary) is a Spanish mission in Lompoc, California. It was established on December 8, 1787 (the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, hence the mission's name) by the Franciscan order. The original mission complex south of Lompoc was destroyed by an earthquake in 1812, and the mission was rebuilt at its present site a few miles to the northeast. The mission is part of the larger La Purísima Mission State Historic Park, part of the California State Parks system, and along with Mission San Francisco de Solano is one of only two of the Spanish missions in California that is no longer governed by the Catholic Church. It is currently the only example in California of a complete Spanish Catholic mission complex, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970.

Salsipuedes Creek is a 9.9 miles (15.9 km) long stream, flowing north to join the Santa Ynez River just southeast of Lompoc in Santa Barbara County, California. Salsipuedes Creek, along with its major tributary, El Jaro Creek, is the largest tributary to the lower Santa Ynez River, shortly before the river reaches the Pacific Ocean.

Rancho Cañada de Salsipuedes was a 6,656-acre (26.94 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Santa Barbara County, California given in 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Pedro Cordero. Salsipuedes means "get out if you can", and the name refers to the narrow winding canyons and trails along Salsipuedes Creek. The grant was southeast of present-day Lompoc.

Fiddlehead Cellars is a winery based in Lompoc, California specializing in Sauvignon blanc and Pinot noir, producing an average of 5,000 cases of wine yearly. It was established by Kathy Joseph in 1989. Fiddlehead uses grapes from the Santa Ynez Valley AVA of Santa Barbara County, specifically the Sta. Rita Hills AVA for Pinot noir, and Oregon's Willamette Valley AVA. Winemaker Joseph has a graduate degree in Viticulture and Enology from University of California, Davis. Fiddlehead Cellars is a member of the Sta. Rita Hills Winegrowers Alliance and the Santa Barbara County Vintners' Association. Fiddlehead's 2003 Sauvignon blanc was featured prominently in the 2004 film Sideways. The 1997 vintage of this wine was also listed as a Top 100 Wine in the San Francisco Chronicle.Fiddlehead's Pinot noir has also been featured as a "top wine" on repeated occasions.

The Lompoc Valley Medical Center, owned and operated by Lompoc Valley Medical Center, is a 60-bed general acute care rural, district hospital located in Lompoc, California.

The Well, Hill 4 is a California Historical Landmark in Lompoc, California's Lompoc Oil Field in the Purisima Hills. The oil well is the first one to use pumping cement to aid in installing a shutoff valve. The well became a California State Historical Landmark No. 582 on May 1, 1957. The well is located at Unocal Corporation facility in the Mission Hills District of Lompoc. The California Historical Landmark plaque and the well are 1.6 miles behind the gated facility in a canyon. Union Oil Company of California hit the oil on September 26, 1905. Union Oil had drilled down 2,507 feet to hit the oil deposit. The oil well did not run dry till 1951. The well is named after engineer Frank E. Hill who was the leader of the first successful pumping cement cap. The California State Historical Landmark reads: NO. 582 WELL, HILL 4 - This well, spudded September 26, 1905, and completed April 30, 1906, is the first oil well in which a water shutoff was attained by pumping cement through the tubing and back of the casing-forerunner of the modern cementing technique. It was drilled to a depth of 2,507 feet by Union Oil Company of California, 1,872 feet of 10-inch casing and 2,237 feet of 8-inch casing were so securely cemented off that the well produced for over forty-five years.

Mission Hills is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Barbara County, California, a short distance north of Lompoc on Highway 1. The population was 3,576 at the 2010 census, up from 3,142 at the 2000 census.

The White Hills are a low mountain range in the Transverse Ranges, in Santa Barbara County, California south of the town of Lompoc and east of Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Rancho Ex-Mission la Purísima (also called Rancho Purísima) was a 14,736-acre (59.63 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Santa Barbara County, California given in 1845 by Governor Pío Pico to Jonathan Temple. The rancho derives its name from the secularized Mission La Purísima, but was called ex-Mission because of a division made of the lands held in the name of the Mission— the church retaining the grounds immediately around, and all of the lands outside of this are called ex-Mission lands. The grant was north of the Santa Ynez River and present-day Lompoc and encompasses present-day Vandenberg Village. The grant was defined by the boundaries of the earlier surrounding grants, viz: Rancho Mission Vieja de la Purisma, Rancho Jesús María, Rancho Lompoc, Rancho Los Álamos, and Rancho Santa Rita.

Rancho Mission Vieja de la Purisma was a 4,414-acre (17.86 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day northern Santa Barbara County, California given in 1845 by Governor Pío Pico to Joaquín Carrillo and José Antonio Carrillo. The grant included the original site of Mission La Purísima Concepción, located north of present-day Lompoc.

The Lompoc Museum is a museum preserving and interpreting the history of the Lompoc area and is located in the town of Lompoc, California. The museum offers interpretive programs, exhibits, multi-media presentations and special events. The museum is located in a former Carnegie library building, built in 1910.
