The Francis B. Austin House is a historic house at 58 High Street in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Built about 1832 and restyled in the 1860s, it is a good local example of Second Empire architecture. The Austins, for whom it was built, were prominent local landowners and businessmen. The house, converted into multiunit housing in the 20th century, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Charlestown Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a war memorial commemorating six local men who died who during the Vietnam War, installed outside Veterans Memorial Hall in Charlestown, Boston, in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. The memorial was dedicated in April 2009.

Charlestown is the oldest neighborhood in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States. Originally called Mishawum by the Massachusett tribe, it is located on a peninsula north of the Charles River, across from downtown Boston, and also adjoins the Mystic River and Boston Harbor waterways. Charlestown was laid out in 1629 by engineer Thomas Graves, one of its earliest settlers, in the reign of Charles I of England. It was originally a separate town and the first capital of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Charlestown became a city in 1848 and was annexed by Boston on January 5, 1874. With that, it also switched from Middlesex County, to which it had belonged since 1643, to Suffolk County. It has had a substantial Irish-American population since the migration of Irish people during the Great Irish Famine of the 1840s. Since the late 1980s, the neighborhood has changed dramatically because of its proximity to downtown and its colonial architecture. A mix of yuppie and upper-middle-class gentrification has influenced much of the area, as it has in many of Boston's neighborhoods, but Charlestown still maintains a strong Irish-American population. In the 21st century, Charlestown's diversity has expanded dramatically, along with growing rates of the very poor and very wealthy. Today Charlestown is a largely residential neighborhood, with much housing near the waterfront, overlooking the Boston skyline. Charlestown is home to many historic sites, hospitals and organizations, with access from the Orange Line Sullivan Square or Community College stops or the I-93 expressway.

The Phipps Street Burying Ground is a historic cemetery on Phipps Street in Charlestown, now a neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The burial ground was created in 1630, when Charlestown was a separate community from Boston; it is the oldest cemetery within Boston's present limits. The "Charlestown Carver", an anonymous stone cutter active in the 1660s, began an important regional style that was continued by the Lamson family for many generations.The cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The Terminal Storage Warehouse District is located at Medford and Terminal Streets in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. It includes three large brick warehouse buildings which were built between 1910 and 1913. They are rare surviving elements of the commercial development of the Charlestown waterfront early in the 20th century. They were built by two separate companies which had common ownership. The buildings at 40 and 50 Terminal Street were built by the Terminal Wharf & Railroad Warehouse Company, and that at 267-281 Medford Street was built by the Terminal Storage Warehouse Company. They were built to serve as storage facilities for the transhipment by rail and ship of goods through the port. The buildings were vacated in 1984, and are being rehabilitated after many years of vacancy.In 2014, the warehouse at 267-281 Medford Street was renovated into apartments after a 17-year-long legal battle related to the building's location in the Terminal Storage Warehouse District and its proximity to the waterfront. During the renovations, much of the original longleaf pine decking of the building was salvaged and recycled.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 12, 2012.

The Warren Tavern is reportedly one of the oldest taverns in the state of Massachusetts and one of the most historic watering holes in America. The Warren Tavern was founded in 1780 in Charlestown, Massachusetts and still stands in that block of land today. In the early years of the Warren Tavern it was frequented by many American Revolutionary War heroes such as Paul Revere, Benjamin Franklin, Sergeant David Turner and George Washington.

The Bunker Hill Monument is a monument erected at the site of the Battle of Bunker Hill in Boston, Massachusetts, which was among the first major battles between the Red Coats and Patriots in the American Revolutionary War. The 221-foot (67 m) granite obelisk was erected between 1825 and 1843 in Charlestown, Massachusetts, with granite from nearby Quincy conveyed to the site via the purpose-built Granite Railway, followed by a trip by barge. There are 294 steps to the top. An exhibit lodge built near the base of the monument in the late 19th century houses a statue of fallen hero Dr. Joseph Warren. Bunker Hill is one of the sites along the Freedom Trail and is part of Boston National Historical Park. The monument underwent a $3.7 million renovation, completed in 2007, that included repairs, handicap accessibility improvements, and new lighting. The Bunker Hill Museum across the street was dedicated in June of that year and includes many exhibits about the battle. No admission charge applies to the museum or monument.

Charlestown High School is a public school located at 240 Medford Street in Charlestown, Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Charlestown High School is the only high school in Charlestown. Charlestown is part of the Boston Public Schools. According to the article, "Focus On Children, the Boston Publics Schools School Report Card," of the students enrolled in 2003-2004, 70.6% were in regular education 7.1% in bilingual education, and 22.2% in the special education. The racial/ethnic composition of the student population in the school was: 46.3% Black, 26.4% Hispanic, 19.5% Asian, and 7.6% White.
