Upend

Kirtling, together with Kirtling Green and Kirtling Towers, is a scattered settlement in the south-eastern edge of the English county of Cambridgeshire. It forms a civil parish with the nearby village of Upend to its north. The population of the settlement is included in the civil parish of Woodditton.

It probably dates to The Anarchy during the reign of King Stephen.

The name, meaning 'homestead/village in a valley' is of Old English origin and first recorded in the Domesday Book.Dalham is 13 kilometres (8 mi) west of the town of Bury St Edmunds and, at the 2001 census, had a population of 191,. increasing to 210 at the 2011 Census. The Icknield Way Path passes through the village on its 110-mile journey from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Knettishall Heath in Suffolk. The Icknield Way Trail, a multi-user route for walkers, horse riders and off-road cyclists also passes through the village.

Moulton was a rural district in Suffolk, England from 1894 to 1935. It covered the area to the east of the town of Newmarket. The district was created in 1894 as the part of the Newmarket rural sanitary district which lay in West Suffolk, the Cambridgeshire part becoming Newmarket Rural District.It was abolished in 1935 and most of the district (the parishes of Dalham, Gazeley, Higham Green and Moulton) became part of Mildenhall Rural District, which merged with Newmarket urban district in 1974 to create the modern Forest Heath district. The parishes of Lidgate and Ousden instead became part of Clare Rural District in 1935, went to St Edmundsbury which is now in West Suffolk.
