Cornelia is a city in Habersham County, Georgia, United States. The population was 4,160 at the 2010 census, up from 3,674 at the 2000 census. It is home to one of the world's largest apple sculptures, which is displayed on top of an obelisk-shaped monument. Cornelia was the retirement home of baseball legend Ty Cobb who was born nearby, and was a base of operation for production of the 1956 Disney film The Great Locomotive Chase that was filmed along the Tallulah Falls Railway that ran from Cornelia northward along the rim of Tallulah Gorge to Franklin, North Carolina.

Alto is a town in Banks and Habersham counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the town had a population of 1,172, up from 876 at the 2000 census.

Chenocetah Fire Tower is a historic fire tower in the Chenocetah Mountains, Cornelia, Georgia, Habersham County, Georgia. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 11, 1984. The tower was built in 1937 as part of a public works program by the Farm Security Administration's Resettlement Administration in effort to move and employ impoverished farmers. The purpose of the building was to allow fire fighters to spot fires in the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Chenocetah Mountain, known to locals as "Tower Mountain," is located near the towns of Mount Airy and Cornelia, Georgia. The mountain has an elevation of 1,830 feet (560 m). Atop the mountain, the WPA built an observation tower in 1937 for the Forest Service; it is used as a fire tower for observation by rangers. Chenocetah is a Cherokee language word meaning "see all around." Variant names were "Griffin Mountain" and "Tower Mountain".Occasionally visitors are allowed in. During Cornelia's annual Big Red Apple Festival, visitors are allowed into the tower to enjoy its panoramic view of the surrounding hills and valleys.

Mount Airy is a town in Habersham County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,284 at the 2010 census, up from 604 at the 2000 census.

Lee Arrendale State Prison of the Georgia Department of Corrections is a women's prison located in Raoul, unincorporated Habersham County, Georgia, near Alto, and in proximity to Gainesville. It houses the state death row for women.It became exclusively a women's prison in early 2005. A number of the young male inmates were kept there until mid-2005, when they were moved to other prisons in the state. The prison has four dormitories and a medical building. The officers at Arrendale are still transitioning from one of the most violent prisons in Georgia to a general purpose women's prison. In March 2006, the prison took in 350 women prisoners from Georgia's overflowing jail system.

Raoul is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Habersham County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 2,558, up from 1,816 at the 2000 census.

The Demorest Commercial Historic District is a 2 acres (0.81 ha) historic district in Demorest, Georgia which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The listing included seven contributing buildings.The district was defined to include "the intact historic commercial buildings and a historic church that remain in the city of Demorest's downtown business district. Demorest is a small city in Habersham County in the northeastern part of the state. The downtown business district is located at the intersection of Georgia Street and Central Avenue (U.S. 441). The buildings in the historic district were constructed from 1890 to 1934 and consist of six commercial buildings and one church."The oldest (1890) building is the "Brick Block" or Starkweather Building, at the intersection of Georgia and Central, a two-story brick building with a stepped parapet and corbeled cornice. In 1989 it held Steffi's Store.The Congregational Church (1908) was designed and built by H. W. Willett.

Demorest ( DEM-ə-rist) is a city in Habersham County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,022 at the 2020 census, up from 1,823 at the 2010 census, and 1,465 at the 2000 census. It is the home of Piedmont University.

The Demorest Women's Club is a women's group founded in 1934 by 11 women. The historic building at 1035 Central Avenue in Demorest, Georgia, the group uses was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.The building was built in 1902 and served as the Demorest Methodist Episcopal Church, South from 1902 to 1939, then as the Demorest Methodist Church from 1939 to 1947. It was majorly renovated in 1954 to serve as the Demorest Women's Club. Its historical significance derives from 1954 on.

Founded in 1897, Piedmont's Demorest campus includes 300 acres in a traditional residential-college setting located in the foothills of the northeast Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains. The Soque River (Cherokee: ᏐᏈ) (Soquee River per 1972 Board on Geographic Names decision) and its watershed are located entirely within the county boundaries of Habersham County in northeast Georgia. The Soque is a tributary of the Chattahoochee River. Portions of the river run along State Route 197.The highest point in the watershed occurs on 4,430-foot (1,350 m) Tray Mountain. The Soque is 28.5 miles (45.9 km) long, and the watershed covers 83,983 acres (340 km2), 47% of Habersham County’s 178,677 acres (723 km2). Approximately 17,524 acres (71 km2) or 17% of the watershed are within the Chattahoochee National Forest in the Chattooga Ranger District. A portion of the river and watershed is also within the Tray Mountain Wilderness. The Soque River watershed is designated by the United States Geological Survey as watershed HUC 0313000102.A non-profit organization the Soque River Watershed Association was formed in 1998 to protect and restore the Soque River, its tributaries and watershed. The membership based organization hosts events, clean-ups and implements sustainability projects such as construction of a Clarkesville Greenway, cattle fencing projects, streambank restoration, and innovative stormwater management.
