James Monroe Building

The Chesapeake Warehouses are a complex of eight former tobacco storage facilities at 1100 Dinwiddie Avenue in Richmond, Virginia. These facilities were built c. 1929, and served as storage facilities for a number of the major American tobacco companies. Each warehouse was a single-story timber frame building with galvanized sheet metal walls, and was about 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2) in size. Tobacco was brought into the complex, which originally had fourteen warehouses, by rail, and was delivered to local processing plants by truck. They were in regular use until 1963, when industry practices moved away from the centralized storage of large quantities of tobacco, a practice that resulted in significant losses due to insect infestation. Six of the original warehouses were demolished due to termite infestation.The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Southern Stove Works, Manchester is a historic factory complex located in Richmond, Virginia that replaced the company's original factory. The complex includes two contributing prefabricated steel frame buildings built in 1920. The west building contains the original two-story office building that has been connected by one-story infill to the long one-story warehouse building that contained the pressing and mounting departments and a three-part warehouse. The office is a five-by-three-bay, two-story, building measuring 40 by 80 feet (12 by 24 m) and brick curtain walls. The east building today consists of the foundry with attached original washrooms and office, charging room, and an expanded mill room.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Elliott Grays Marker-Jefferson Davis Highway is a historic route marker located on U.S. Route 1, or Jefferson Davis Highway, in Richmond, Virginia. It was erected in 1929, by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. It is one of 16 erected in Virginia along the Jefferson Davis Highway between 1927 and 1947. The marker is an inscribed granite slab with smooth flat faces and rough-cut edges. It measures 47 inches tall, 25 inches wide and 12 inches thick. The stone is engraved with the text "Jefferson Davis Highway This tree marks the site of Battery 17 of the inner defenses of Richmond, 1862-65, and is planted in soil taken from battlefields A memorial to Confederate Soldiers by the Elliott Grays Chapter U.D.C. 1929."It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.The website Roadside America calls this the "Highway Marker to a Dead Confederate Tree", pointing out that the tree mentioned in the inscription died decades ago.

Built from 1938-40, the Art Deco style Model Tobacco Building is the primary six-story building of a six building collection of buildings comprising a former tobacco factory. Located at 1100 Jefferson Davis Highway (U.S. Route 1), in Richmond, Virginia, the building was designed by the Chicago architecture firm of Schmidt, Garden and Erikson and is known for the 9' tall Moderne MODEL TOBACCO letters which dominate the north end of the building. It is one of many Art Deco buildings in Richmond, including assorted buildings on Grace Street including the Central National Bank building, the Virginia Union Belgian Building, Medical College of Virginia's West Hospital, Henrico Theatre, Thomas Jefferson High School (Richmond, Virginia), and Nolde Bakery, 306-308 North 26th Street, and the Patrick Henry Building on 1111 E. Board Street built in 1938-40. Currently the building houses approximately 3.5 acres (14,000 m2) of used cubicle partitions and other miscellaneous office furniture.

Tree Hill near Richmond, Virginia, in Henrico County, Virginia, is a Greek Revival style plantation house overlooking the James River about two miles east of downtown Richmond near the intersection of the historic Osborne Turnpike and New Market Road. Currently still a private farm, but expected to become partly a park after housing and commercial development, it was once owned by Richmond distiller and landowner Franklin Stearns, a prominent Unionist during the American Civil War. Centuries earlier, it had been a Native American camp site, and the birthplace of powerful chief Powhatan (d.1618). On the night of April 3, 1865, as Richmond burned due to fires set by evacuating Confederate forces, Richmond mayor Joseph C. Mayo traveled in a horse-drawn buggy along Main Street (which becomes the Osborne Turnpike) alongside the James River about a mile past Rockett's Landing, where he came upon Union cavalry encamped at Tree Hill (near the intersection with New Market Road toward Williamsburg). He delivered a note surrendering the city and requesting help restoring order and protecting people and property.

The American Tobacco Company, South Richmond Complex Historic District encompasses a complex of tobacco storage, processing, and research facilities at 400-800 Jefferson Davis Highway in Richmond, Virginia. Included in the 16-acre (6.5 ha) site are four large warehouses, processing buildings including a stemmery and a re-drying plant, and ancillary buildings and structures, including the American Tobacco Company's 1939 research laboratory. The complex exhibits a historical range of trends in the processing and storage of tobacco.The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

The James River Steam Brewery Cellars are a historic series of brewery-related tunnels near the Rocketts Landing development on the James River in Henrico County, Virginia. The stone-lined barrel-vaulted tunnels were built c. 1866, and are the only surviving remains of the James River Steam Brewery, which operated on the site between 1866 and 1879. The brewery was owned by David G. Yuengling, Jr., son of David Yuengling, the founder of the Yuengling brewery in Pennsylvania, and two business partners. At its height, the brewery complex included a beer garden and park that remained popular even after the brewery closed in 1879. Most of the brewery's buildings were destroyed by fire in 1891. The walls of the surviving tunnels are lined with dressed ashlar granite. The west walls, which have the tunnel openings, are overgrown; only small portions of the north and south walls are visible above ground.The tunnels were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Old Town Manchester is a neighborhood in Richmond, Virginia's Southside quadrant. The neighborhood is where downtown Manchester, Richmond, Virginia, United States, was situated before the city merged with Richmond. The area is heavily industrialized, but has gone through a series of gentrification for the last 10 years. Several lofts and art galleries have opened in the area.

Rockett's Landing (or simply Rocketts) is a new urbanist neighborhood in southeastern Richmond, Virginia on the border of Henrico County, Virginia and the north bank of the James River. It was named after Baldwin Rockett, an 18th-century ship's captain born in April 1681 in Exeter, Devonshire, England. The neighborhood was originally a factory and water tower and has been converted into mixed-use development with brick streets. It is served by the GRTC Pulse Rocketts Landing station.

Shed Town is a neighborhood in the East End that overlaps Church Hill and Union Hill, Richmond, Virginia.

Sauer's Garden is a neighborhood in the West End of Richmond, Virginia. The neighborhood began development in the 1920s, and now contains about 300 homes.
