Hibaldstow

Royal Air Force Hibaldstow or more simply RAF Hibaldstow is a former Royal Air Force satellite station located south of Hibaldstow in Lincolnshire and 8.3 miles (13.4 km) south east of Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. The airfield was built with greater things in mind, but it only became a satellite airfield for RAF Kirton-in-Lindsey in 1941. When the runways were constructed, some of the hardcore was made from material taken from demolished bungalows on the site.

Scawby railway station, also known as Scawby and Hibaldstow railway station, was a station in Scawby, Lincolnshire. It was located on the line between Gainsborough and Grimsby. The station opened in 1849 and closed in 1968 but the line still remains open but calling at fewer stations than it once did.

Sturton is a village in the civil parish of Scawby, North Lincolnshire, England. It lies 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south-west from Brigg, 0.5 miles (0.8 km) south from Scawby, to which it is conjoined, and 1 mile (1.6 km) south from the M180 on the B1207. During the 19th century Kelly's Directory noted that Sturton was a hamlet in the parish of Scawby-cum-Sturton, which also included the hamlet of Scawby Brook, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to the north-east. The railway station for Sturton and Scawby on the Gainsborough to Brigg line lies within Sturton, 0.75 miles (1.2 km) to the south. The station and line was part of the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. Sturton has three Grade II listed farmhouses: c.1849 Station Farmhouse, late 18th-century Home Farmhouse, and late 18th-century Manor Farmhouse.

Redbourne is a village and civil parish in the North Lincolnshire district of Lincolnshire, England. The village is situated near the A15 road, and 5 miles (8 km) south from Brigg. According to the 2001 Census Redbourne had a population of 386, rising slightly to 400 at the 2011 census.The name Redbourne is derived from the Old English Name "Hredburna" meaning "reedy burn", a reference to a stream running through the village. The parish church of St Andrew was made redundant from the Church of England in 1978 and is now maintained by The Churches Conservation Trust. It is a Grade I listed building. Although the church has 14th- and 15th-century origins, the bulk of the existing building is 18th-century and represents a Georgian Gothic style, using a mixture of squared and coursed rubble limestone with ashlar dressings. Its square tower is approximately 90 feet (27 m) high. The alterations of 1772–4 in the gothic style were by the Lincoln architects Thomas and Henry Lumby and the chapel on the south side of the chancel served as a mausoleum for the family of the Dukes of St Albans.The Red Lion Hotel coaching inn on the village green dates from the 17th century. A conservation area was designated in August 1985 by the old Humberside County Council and covers the historic village core but excludes the more recent residential developments on the periphery.

St Andrew's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Redbourne, Lincolnshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church stands in the centre of the village, which is to the east of the A15 road, and some 4 miles (6 km) south of Brigg.

Scawby is a village and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England. It is situated 2 miles (3 km) south-west from Brigg, and just east from the A15 road, and south from the M180 motorway. According to the 2001 Census, Scawby population (including Sturton) was 2,277, reducing slightly to 2,243 at the 2011 census.The village is noted for the Nelthorpe family who owned the manor and lived at Scawby Hall. Sir John Nelthorpe founded Brigg Grammar School in 1669. Sturton was formerly a separate hamlet a little to the south of Scawby, but development of the land between the two has incorporated the settlement into the main village. Scawby Brook, situated to the east just outside Brigg, is also partly within the parish. Also in the parish, to the west of the main village, is the roadside hamlet of Greetwell on the B1398 road.

Newstead-on-Ancholme Priory was a priory in Lincolnshire, England. The Gilbertine priory of Holy Trinity, Newstead-on-Ancholme, was founded for Gilbertine canons by King Henry II in 1171. The endowment was small, and the number of canons and lay brothers was limited by Saint Gilbert to thirteen. The priory was surrendered in 1538, by the prior, Robert Hobson, and five canons. Newstead Priory farmhouse, a grade I listed building was built on the site, and one room in the farmhouse is a vaulted room of the Gibertine priory, possibly part of the refectory.

Glanford Brigg Power Station (also known as Brigg Power Station) is a gas-fired power station in North Lincolnshire, England. It is capable of firing diesel as a substitute of natural gas. It is situated on the River Ancholme, beside the Sheffield to Cleethorpes via Brigg Line, outside the town of Brigg, with its name coming from the former name for the town. It has a generating capacity of 240 megawatts (MW). Opened in 1993, the station was originally operated by Finnish company Fortum. It is now operated by Centrica. There are currently plans to build a straw fuelled renewable energy plant alongside the station.

Hibaldstow Bridge is an iron arch bridge that spans the River Ancholme, near the villages of Hibaldstow, in North Lincolnshire, and North Kelsey, in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire. A plaque mounted in the centre of the bridge reads "Erected By JTB Porter & Co. 1889 Lincoln". The bridge is a British Listed Building, and was Grade II listed on 6 January 1987. Its Historic England ID is 166019.The last part of the single-track road leading to the bridge from North Kelsey, known as Starham Road, is not asphalted and can be dangerous during adverse weather conditions as it runs on top of the embankment. It is, in places, badly potholed. On maps, the riverside stretch of road is either not marked, or shown as being of minimal quality. The bridge was used as the site to burn a Ford Transit Van involved in the burglary of an ATM in the second half of 2019. The bridge is now unusable as there are three large holes burnt into it.

Gainsthorpe is a deserted medieval village (DMV) site in a field which is part of the present Gainsthorpe Farm in Lincolnshire, England. The site is in Hibaldstow civil parish located on a minor road west of the A15 road, south of Hibaldstow and five miles (eight kilometres) south-west of Brigg.It is now in the care of English Heritage. There is a small car park from where a footpath of about 220 yards (200 metres) leads to the site. The typical medieval layout of sunken roads and raised rectangular tofts and crofts is clearly seen in the humps and hollows of the field.

The Buttercross, also known as Brigg Town Hall, is a municipal building in the Market Place in Brigg, Lincolnshire, England. The structure, which is used as a tourist information centre and as an events venue, is a Grade II listed building.

Scunthorpe is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Holly Mumby-Croft, a member of the Conservative Party, when she gained the seat from the Labour Party.
