Mississippi Army Ammunition Plant

The Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (COMNAVMETOCCOM) or CNMOC, serves as the operational arm of the Naval Oceanography Program. Headquartered at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, CNMOC is an echelon three command reporting to United States Fleet Forces Command (USFLTFORCOM). CNMOC's claimancy is globally distributed, with assets on larger ships (aircraft carriers, amphibious ships, and command and control ships), shore facilities at fleet concentration areas, and larger production centers in the US. CNMOC is focused on providing critical environmental knowledge to the warfighting disciplines of Anti-Submarine Warfare; Naval Special Warfare; Mine Warfare; Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance; and Fleet Operations (Strike and Expeditionary), as well as to the support areas of Maritime Operations, Aviation Operations, Navigation, Precise Time, and Astrometry. The Oceanographer of the Navy works closely with the staff of CNMOC to ensure the proper resources are available to meet its mission, to act as a liaison between CNMOC and the Chief of Naval Operations, and to represent the Naval Oceanography Program in inter-agency and international forums.

The John C. Stennis Space Center (SSC) is a NASA rocket testing facility in Hancock County, Mississippi (United States), on the banks of the Pearl River at the Mississippi–Louisiana border. As of 2012, it is NASA's largest rocket engine test facility. There are over 50 local, state, national, international, private, and public companies and agencies using SSC for their rocket testing facilities.

The National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) is a part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS). NDBC designs, develops, operates, and maintains a network of data collecting buoys and coastal stations. The NDBC is located in southern Mississippi as a tenant at the John C. Stennis Space Center, a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Gainesville is a ghost town located in Hancock County, Mississippi. Formerly a thriving port on the Pearl River, the town experienced decline due to the emergence of railways in the mid-19th century. The land was acquired by NASA in 1962, later becoming home to the Stennis Space Center.

Napoleon is an unincorporated community located on the Pearl River in Hancock County, Mississippi, United States.A post office operated under the name Napoleon from 1847 to 1905. After the post office closed, mail was routed to the post office in Huxford.Napoleon was once home to a turpentine and camphine distillery.Much of the community was abandoned after the creation of the Stennis Space Center.

Pearl River Wildlife Management Area, also known as Pearl River WMA, is a 35,619 acres (14,414 ha) tract of protected area near Slidell in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, in the United States. The WMA is managed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF)

It contains 64 acres (259,000 m2) in its interpretive center, plus over 700 acres (2.8 km2) in seven additional natural areas, sheltering over 300 species of indigenous trees and shrubs.

WRJW (1320 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Picayune, Mississippi, United States, the station serves the New Orleans area. The station is owned by Pearl River Communications, Inc. and features programming from ABC News Radio and Westwood One.This station was at one time the sister station to WKSY before being spun off in the 1990s.

Hancock County is the southernmost county of the U.S. state of Mississippi and is named for Founding Father John Hancock. As of the 2020 census, the population was 46,053. Its county seat is Bay St. Louis.Hancock County is part of the Gulfport–Biloxi, MS Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is situated along the Gulf of Mexico and the state line with Louisiana. The area is home to the John C. Stennis Space Center, NASA's largest rocket engine test facility. The county was severely damaged from Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005, which caused a huge storm surge and catastrophic damage.

George Washington Carver High School was a public secondary school in Picayune, Mississippi, United States. It served as the high school for black students until the public schools were integrated in 1970. The buildings are now Carver Elementary School.

Pearl River is a town in St. Tammany Parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The population was 2,506 at the 2010 U.S. census, and 2,618 at the 2020 population estimates program. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner metropolitan statistical area.

Picayune is an Amtrak intercity train station at 200 South Highway 11, in the heart of downtown Picayune, Mississippi. The station is served by Amtrak's Crescent passenger train. The station house was built in 2008 as a replacement for an open covered shelter. Like its predecessor, however, it is a flag stop, and only stops here when passengers have tickets either to or from the station. Since the suspension of the Sunset Limited east of New Orleans in 2005, Picayune has been the only Amtrak station on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
