The memorial was dedicated in September 2013, becoming the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and the eighth in the United States.

The John C. Ainsworth House is a historic building in Oregon City, Oregon, United States. It was built in 1851 for John C. Ainsworth, the main founder of the Oregon Steam Navigation Company. It is one of the oldest structures in the Portland area and remains in good condition. It is also the only two-story portico in Oregon. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The William L. Holmes House, also known as Rose Farm, was built in 1848 by William L. Holmes in Oregon City, Oregon. One of the oldest structures in Oregon, it was the site of the inauguration of the first Territorial Governor of Oregon, Joseph Lane in 1849. The house replaced an 1844 log cabin built by Holmes, a South Carolina native who moved with his family to Oregon in 1843.The house is a 2+1⁄2-story frame structure. It has been extensively altered, with the removal of a rear ell. The changes have not been well documented, and the National Register of Historic Places nomination notes that information about the house, including its Historic American Buildings Survey data, includes "romanticized misinformation."The Holmes house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 2, 1974. It has been preserved and may be visited.

Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center (Willamette Falls) is a not-for-profit acute care hospital operated by Providence Health & Services in Oregon City, Oregon, United States. Established in 1954 as Doctors' Hospital, the hospital moved to its current location in 1961 and has 143 licensed beds at its 243,000-square-foot (22,600 m2) facility. Willamette Falls also operates several medical offices and clinics outside of Oregon City in other parts of Clackamas County. Previously known as Willamette Falls Hospital, the hospital merged with Providence in 2009.

As of the 2020 census, the city population was 37,572. Established in 1829 by the Hudson's Bay Company, in 1844 it became the first U.S. city west of the Rocky Mountains to be incorporated.

The First Congregational Church of Oregon City, also known as Atkinson Memorial Congregational Church, is a historic building located at 6th and John Adams Sts. in Oregon City, Oregon. The congregation was formed in 1844 as a non-denominational Protestant congregation. In 1892 they affiliated with the Congregational Christian Church from the local Congregational Society that had been formed in 1849 from the 1844 congregation. The present building was constructed in the Gothic Revival style in 1925 after the previous building had been destroyed in a fire in 1923. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.It is historically important as a landmark in Oregon City and, according to its NRHP nomination, "as the fullest expression of an architectural type in which the architect, Willard F. Tobey, specialized and for its outstanding array of pictorial stained glass.": 7  The stained glass windows were designed by Portland's Povey Brothers Studio. In 1961 the congregation became affiliated with Unitarian Universalism, and they changed their name to the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Willamette Falls in 2016.
