St. John the Evangelist Parish

Francis P. Keilman House is a historic home located at St. John, Lake County, Indiana. It was built about 1857, and is a two-story, side hall plan balloon frame dwelling with Italianate style design elements. It has a front gable roof and a rear addition built about 1900. Also on the property are the contributing wood frame stable (c. 1890) with a garage addition (c. 1940) and a wood frame rabbit hutch (c. 1940).: 3 It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Lake Central High School (LCHS) is a high school in St. John, Indiana, for students in grades nine through twelve. Its students come from St. John Township which includes the towns of St. John and Dyer (north of 101st Ave), the entire town of Schererville, unincorporated Crown Point (north of 101st Ave), and the southeastern section of Griffith that is within St. John Township. It is the only high school in the Lake Central School Corporation.

Midwest Training and Ice Center is an ice arena and gymnastics and recreational sport facility in Dyer, Indiana. It features an Olympic size sheet of ice for hockey, figure skating and open skating, a state-of-the-art fitness center and facilities for gymnastics. The arena was the home of the junior ice hockey team the Illiana Blackbirds of the USPHL Midwest until 2016. It is currently home to another team with the same nickname, the Midwest Blackbirds. The ice arena is also the home of local high school hockey teams and recreational teams. Current seating capacity for spectators is 1,500.

Sauzer's Kiddieland was an amusement park that operated near the U.S. Route 30 and U.S. Route 41 intersection in Schererville, Indiana from 1949 to 1993. The 15-acre (61,000 m2) park was opened and operated by Frank Sauzer and later operated by his son Frank Sauzer Jr., included about 18 rides and a paddle boat pond. The Swingin' Gyms were saved by a family in Dyer Indiana and eventually found their way to the Coaster Universe Preservation Museum in Ohio.

Schererville ( SHAIR-ər-vil, locally [ˈʃɛərvɪl]) is a town in St. John Township, Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 29,646 at the 2020 census It is a suburb of Chicago, located 30 miles south of the city.

Meyer's Castle or the Joseph Ernest Meyer House is a former private residence in the town of Dyer, Indiana in the United States. The castle was constructed from 1927 to 1931 in the Jacobethan style by architect Cosbey Bernard, Sr. The house was built for Joseph Ernest Meyer as his private residence, a herbologist and one of Hammond's first millionaires. The building now serves as a special events venue and is also home to "Rivelli", an Italian steakhouse.The castle was built as a replica of a Scottish castle Meyer had once seen. When it was completed in 1931, the Meyer's Castle was the largest and most lavish mansion in the surrounding Calumet region. Its location in the forested area allowed Meyer to continue his practice of herbology. The hill on which the estate sits atop of is called "Indian Hill" due to the many Sauk and Potowami artifacts found in and around the vicinity. It is also one of the highest points in Lake County, IN. Joseph Meyer lived in Meyer's Castle until his death in 1950, leaving the castle to his wife Cecilia, who lived there for several years after his death. After the death of Cecilia Meyer in 1975, the entire castle grounds and complex was sold to the East Dyer Development Company, which subsequently became today's Castlewood Subdivision of Dyer. The castle was purchased from the town of Dyer by Cynthia and Charles Curry and later sold. The property was purchased in 1987. At the time of purchase, the property was in an abandoned and dilapidated state. It was renovated and returned to its original majestic state. They now operate the property as a special events venue and along with a reservation only restaurant. Visitors are welcomed by peacocks that roam the grounds.

Kreitzburg is an unincorporated community in St. John Township, Lake County, Indiana.

The Illiana Motor Speedway is a closed race track located in Schererville, Indiana, United States and was built in 1947. Located about 35 miles (56 km) from downtown Chicago, Illinois, United States; the Illiana Motor Speedway is the only 1/2 mile paved oval in the Chicago area. It was announced on March 11, 2016 that the track would not open for the 2016 season. The track has been sold to the town of Schererville.
