Schererville, Indiana

St. John Township is one of eleven townships in Lake County, Indiana. As of the 2010 census, its population was 66,741 and it contained 25,691 housing units.

The Illiana Motor Speedway is a closed race track located in Schererville, Indiana, United States and was built in 1947. Located about 35 miles (56 km) from downtown Chicago, Illinois, United States; the Illiana Motor Speedway is the only 1/2 mile paved oval in the Chicago area. It was announced on March 11, 2016 that the track would not open for the 2016 season. The track has been sold to the town of Schererville.

The Pennsy Greenway is a rail trail in the Chicago metropolitan area running from Lansing, Illinois to Schererville, Indiana. The trail runs on the former Penn Central Railway, and is currently incomplete, but is paved at segments in Lansing, Munster, Dyer, Schererville, and Crown Point. The trail is paved through these segments at a total of 12.5 miles, and the trail is planned to extend for a total of 15 miles.

Sauzer's Kiddieland was an amusement park that operated near the U.S. Route 30 and U.S. Route 41 intersection in Schererville, Indiana from 1949 to 1993. The 15-acre (61,000 m2) park was opened and operated by Frank Sauzer and later operated by his son Frank Sauzer Jr., included about 18 rides and a paddle boat pond. The Swingin' Gyms were saved by a family in Dyer Indiana and eventually found their way to the Coaster Universe Preservation Museum in Ohio.

Hartsdale was a town in St. John Township, Lake County, Indiana, United States. It was part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Hartsdale was annexed by Schererville, Indiana, in 1911.

Griffith Grand Trunk Depot is a historic train station located at Griffith, Lake County, Indiana. It was built in 1911 by the Grand Trunk Western Railroad. It is a simple one-story, frame building measuring 20 feet by 30 feet. It has a steeply pitched hipped roof with overhanging eaves and a projecting three-sided bay. The depot operated until 1980. It was moved to its present location in the Griffith Historical Park and Railroad Museum in 1980.: 5, 10 It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

E.J. and E. Griffith Interlocking Tower is a historic interlocking tower located at Griffith, Lake County, Indiana. It was built in 1924 by the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway. It is a three-story, brick building measuring 25 feet long, 16 feet wide, and 30 feet tall. It has a concrete foundation and low pitched hipped roof. The depot operated until 1999. It was moved to its present location in the Griffith Historical Park and Railroad Museum in 2000.: 5, 10 It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Lake Central High School (LCHS) is a high school in St. John, Indiana, for students in grades nine through twelve. Its students come from St. John Township which includes the towns of St. John and Dyer (north of 101st Ave), the entire town of Schererville, unincorporated Crown Point (north of 101st Ave), and the southeastern section of Griffith that is within St. John Township. It is the only high school in the Lake Central School Corporation.

Hoosier Prairie is a unit of Indiana Dunes National Park in Lake County, Indiana. It began in the 1970s as wasteland that conservation organization found of a unique interest. From a core of 304 acres (123 ha), it has grown to 1,547 acres (626 ha) of important prairie habitat. The area was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1974 and a State Nature Preserve in 1977 The sandy soil creates a variety of habitats, from oak barrens, wet prairie, including sedge meadows and prairie marshes. More than 350 native species of vascular plants have been identified. A minimum of 43 species are uncommon in the State of Indiana.
