Lanyon High School is a secondary school located in Conder, Australian Capital Territory. It serves the Lanyon Valley and surrounding rural areas in the Tuggeranong district of Canberra, Australia. The school was established in 1996 by the ACT department of education to address the needs of young people in years 7–10 as they move from primary school to further education, training or employment.

Lanyon Valley () is a district located at the southeast end of Canberra, Australia, including the suburbs of Gordon, Conder, and Banks.

Conder is one of three suburbs in the Lanyon Valley in Canberra, Australia. It lies in the district of Tuggeranong. The three suburbs are presently (as of 2011) the southernmost suburbs of the city, although the small settlement of Tharwa exists only a short distance further south. Named after artist Charles Conder, the suburb of Conder extends from the slopes of Tuggeranong Hill to the valley floor. Conder is home to the valley's main services including the Lanyon Market Place, Lanyon High School and one of the four Vikings clubs in Canberra. Also included in the suburb are St Clare of Assisi Primary School, Charles Conder Primary School, a youth centre, child care centre and a family services centre. Just like the name of the suburb, the streets of Conder are named after artists, including members of the Heidelberg School and places associated with that school. Among those recognised are Russell Drysdale and Tom Roberts.Major developments in Conder including "Eastern Valley Rise" and "The Landscape" have seen the Lanyon Valley's population grow rapidly. Conder has come out on top with the highest median house price growth year-on-year out of all Canberra suburbs.

Tuggeranong Hill is located in Tuggeranong, Canberra. It is sometimes referred to as Mount Tuggeranong due to its prominence. Lanyon Valley is almost completely surrounded by hills and mountains and consequently television transmissions from Black Mountain are affected. To overcome this, there is a broadcast translator on top of Tuggeranong Hill. There is a track to the repeater on top of Tuggeranong Hill for service vehicles that doubles as a fire trail. Tuggeranong Hill is part of the Canberra Nature Park. A walk to the top of Tuggeranong Hill provides views of the Lanyon Valley and of the rest of southern Canberra. Tuggeranong Hill stands 855 metres (2800 feet) above sea level.

Gordon is a suburb in the Canberra, Australia district of Tuggeranong. The postcode is 2906. The suburb is named after the poet Adam Lindsay Gordon (1833–1870). It was gazetted on 12 March 1987. Streets are named after sportspersons, an example is Woodfull Loop, named after the captain of the Australia national cricket team during the Bodyline test series.It is next to the suburbs of Bonython, Conder and Banks. It is located on the west side of Tharwa Drive. Located in the suburb is the Point Hut Pond, with the Point Hut district park. Gordon has a primary school and neighbourhood oval.

Covenant Christian School, formerly known as Covenant College, is an independent Christian primary and high school located on Woodcock Drive, Gordon in the Australian Capital Territory and owned and operated by an association of like-minded Christian parents and supporters. The official theological position of the school is based on the Westminster Confession of Faith and other expressions of the reformed faith. It currently caters for pupils in years K-10 and is co-educational. Covenant opened in 1991. As of 2023, it had a roll of around 283 students, and a college feeder program with Trinity Christian School for pupils in years 11 and 12. The school aims to provide quality Christ-centered education to students from Protestant denominations. In 2013 the school entered into a new phase of its development as it opened its doors to non-Christian students as well as Christian students. From 2014, the school changed its name to Covenant Christian School, which more clearly reflects its role as a provider of Primary and Secondary education. There are around 8 classrooms, a science lab, a library, preschool, and a COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Center) as of 2023. The school had 183 students enrolled in K-10 in 2021. Of whom, 5 were international students. There were also 37 employed staff at CCS during the 2021 academic year of whom 22 were teaching staff and 15 were non-teaching staff.

Gigerline Parish was a former parish of Murray County, New South Wales, a cadastral unit for use on land titles. It was formed in the nineteenth century and existed until 1 January 1911, when the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910 came into force, after the land was transferred to the Commonwealth government in 1909 to be used to form the Australian Capital Territory. It included what are now the southernmost Canberra suburbs of Banks, Conder, and Gordon, with the northern boundary near Tuggeranong Hill. It was bounded by the Murrumbidgee River in the west and Guises Creek in the south and south-east. It is one of the four former parishes of Murray County which became part of the ACT, along with Canberra, Narrabundah, and Yarrolumla. While other parishes lost land to the ACT, these were the only ones to lose all of the land within the parish. The Gigerline Nature Reserve is located in a similar region.

Calwell () is a medium-sized suburb of Canberra, Australia in the district of Tuggeranong. Tuggeranong Hill is on its southern border and the Tuggeranong Homestead is to the north. Calwell is located close to the Monaro Highway which provides a direct route to Canberra City and to Cooma.

Theodore is a suburb in the Canberra, Australia district of Tuggeranong. The postcode is 2905. The suburb is named after Edward Granville Theodore (1884–1950), a Queensland premier and deputy Prime Minister. It was gazetted on 5 August 1975. Streets are named after people involved with the civilian war effort during the world wars. The main street through the suburb is named after Sir Lawrence Wackett KBE, DFC, AFC, who is widely regarded as the "father of the Australian aircraft industry". At the 2021 census, Theodore had a population of 3,798 and had a median age of 36 compared to the Australian median age of 38.It is next to the suburbs of Conder and Calwell. It is bounded by the Monaro Highway and Tharwa drive. Located in the suburb is Theodore Primary School and a neighbourhood oval. It borders on Tuggeranong Hill and the Canberra Nature Park of Tuggeranong Hill nature reserve.

Tharwa Bridge is a four span Allan truss bridge that provides a high-level crossing point across the Murrumbidgee River, allowing traffic between Canberra and Tharwa village. It is the oldest surviving bridge in the Australian Capital Territory.

Lambrigg is an historical property close to Tharwa in the Australian Capital Territory which is listed by the ACT Heritage Council as a place of historical significance. It was the residence of William James Farrer who made a major contribution to the wheat industry by developing a strain of wheat that was resistant to wheat rust. Lambrigg was the site where Farrer conducted his work on genetic selection for his wheat varieties.

Bonython () is a suburb of Tuggeranong, a township in southern Canberra, capital city of Australia.
