Upper Battlefield, Shropshire

St Mary Magdalene's Church is in the village of Battlefield, Shropshire, England, dedicated to Jesus' companion Mary Magdalene. It was built on the site of the 1403 Battle of Shrewsbury between Henry IV and Henry "Hotspur" Percy, and was originally intended as a chantry, a place of intercession and commemoration for those killed in the fighting. It is probably built over a mass burial pit. It was originally a collegiate church staffed by a small community of chaplains whose main duty was to perform a daily liturgy for the dead. Roger Ive, the local parish priest, is generally regarded as the founder, although the church received considerable support and endowment from Henry IV. After the dissolution of the college and chantry in 1548, the building was used as the local parish church and it underwent serious decay, punctuated by attempts at rebuilding from the mid-18th century. A restoration in Victorian times was controversial in intention, scope and detail, although many original features remain. Today it is a redundant Anglican church. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

The Battle of Shrewsbury was a battle fought on 21 July 1403, waged between an army led by the Lancastrian King Henry IV and a rebel army led by Henry "Harry Hotspur" Percy from Northumberland. Hadnall is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. It lies on the A49, some 9 km north-north-east of Shrewsbury. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 688. The Welsh Marches Line runs just outside the village and there was once a railway station. Today, Hadnall has a primary school, a successful village shop, a pub and two AA Rosette restaurants. The village church is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene. General Sir Rowland Hill, 1st Viscount Hill, who lived at nearby Hardwick Grange, is buried here, as was writer Charles Hulbert who lived at Providence Grove. John Bromley, future trade union leader and Labour MP, whose parents lived at Haston Grove in the parish, was born and baptised here in 1876.Hadnall was formerly part of the old parish of Myddle.A real ale brewery, The Salopian Brewery, is based at Old Station Yard on Station Road, Hadnall. It moved to this location in 2014 having previously operated from Shrewsbury.The village is served by the 511 bus route, operated by Arriva Midlands North, which runs between Shrewsbury and Whitchurch via Wem. Some services terminate in Wem and do not continue to Whitchurch.

Astley is a small village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. The official 2001 census recorded 454 people living in the parish and 116 in the village itself, falling slightly to 449 at the 2011 Census.The village lies near to (and between) the A53 and A49 roads. Upper Astley is a hamlet on the A53 about half a mile to the south of the village of Astley. There is a public house there - the Dog in the Lane. (now closed permanently)

Battlefield Heritage Park is a country park situated north of Shrewsbury in Shropshire, in the area known as Battlefield. It marks the supposed site of the 1403 Battle of Shrewsbury fought between King Henry IV and English rebel nobleman Henry Percy.

The A5124 is a road in Shropshire, England, that forms part of the northern section of the Shrewsbury by-pass. It is known locally as the Battlefield Link Road. It links the A528 (at Ellesmere Road Roundabout) with the A49 and A53 (at Battlefield Roundabout). The current road was built in 1998, though the A5124 had a former route along Harlescott Lane, further towards the town centre of Shrewsbury. However, this road was too narrow, had a railway crossing and passed through a residential area. It is now unclassified. The current road passes under the Welsh Marches Line ("Battlefield Bridge") and also forms the northern edge of the Battlefield Enterprise Park.

Harlescott ( HARL-scott, locally also HOLS-kət) is a suburb of the town of Shrewsbury, county town of Shropshire. It is one of the most industrial parts of the town, and is the 5th most deprived ward in non-metropolitan Shropshire Neighbouring suburbs include Sundorne to the east and Ditherington to the south. Shrewsbury Academy is an 11-16 mixed secondary school with academy status in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. It was established in September 2016 following the amalgamation of Sundorne School and The Grange School, operating across the two former school sites known as Corndon Crescent Campus and Worcester Road Campus respectively.

Sundorne is a suburb of the town of Shrewsbury, county town of Shropshire. It is located 2 km north of the town centre. The B5062 road begins at Heathgates Roundabout and is called Sundorne Road in the Sundorne area, before crossing the Shrewsbury by-pass (the A49) at Sundorne Roundabout and heading east towards Newport. Population (2001 census): 5123, reducing to 3,957 at the 2011 census.It is an electoral division of Shropshire Council, returning one councillor, and a ward of the town, returning a councillor to the town council. The suburb has its own library/community centre and also now has the main sports centre for the town (the Shrewsbury Sports Village). The sports centre hosted the counting for the 2009 elections to Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury Town Council. There is a pub on Sundorne Road, called the Coracle and another pub at Heathgates Roundabout, called the Heathgates.

Albrighton is a small village in the civil parish of Pimhill, in Shropshire, England. It is situated on the A528 Shrewsbury-Ellesmere road and is roughly 4.0 miles (6.4 km) north of Shrewsbury. After a history of being its own parish, it currently lies in the parish of Pimhill. According to the United Kingdom Census 2001, the parish population of Pimhill was 2008, with the number of these habiting in Albrighton being 273. It is first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, as Etbritone ("Ēadbeorht’s settlement"). Albright Hussey was once part of the same manor, and indeed shared the same name originally.
