San Babila (Milan Metro)

Piazza San Babila is a city square in Milan, Italy. The square had always existed as a "largo" since Roman times, as the road to Bergamo would cross the walls of the Roman city. In medieval times as the city expanded beyond its Roman walls the homonymous basilica was founded, and the largo became an important crossroad in the city's intricated road network. Corsia dei Servi (now Corso Vittorio Emanuele II), corsia di san Damiano (now Corso Monforte), corso di Porta Orientale (now Corso Venezia), Contrada del Durino (now via Durini), Contrada del monte (now Corso di Montenapoleone) all used to cross here.Subsequently, from 1931 to 1948 the largo was widened and officially became a "Piazza", the old buildings were demolished and new ones were built in their place. The only building that survived the radical renovation of the largo was the basilica, which still stands today. New streets were opened such as Corso Matteotti in 1927 and Corso Europa in the 1960s. Nowadays the streets meeting in San Babila and the contiguous Largo Arturo Toscanini are, anticlockwise from the bottom, Corso Europa, via Durini, via Borgogna, Corso Monforte, Corso Venezia, via Bagutta, Corso Matteotti and finally Corso Vittorio Emanuele II.

The Palazzo Taverna is a late Neoclassical mansion in Milan, Italy, designed by Ferdinando Albertolli in 1835. It is located at 2, Via Montenapoleone, in the Porta Nuova district of the city.The building is notable in that it is reminiscent of Milan's Royal Villa and of country houses in general as the main body of the building is set back to form a courtyard next to the street. The entrance consists of an Ionic colonnade supporting a parapet. The two lateral sections have giant pilasters surmounted by triangular tympani.Today the mansion houses a Louis Vuitton store.

San Carlo al Corso is a neo-classic church in the center of Milan. The church is managed by the Servite Order. The church facade was designed in 1844 by Carlo Amati and was finished in 1847. It then served as a model for the Chiesa Rotonda in San Bernardino, Switzerland, 1867. The complex was built to replace Convent of the Servite founded as early as 1290 and later was suppressed in 1799. The new church was built in thanks for the ending a cholera epidemic, and dedicated to Saint Charles Borromeo who was the Bishop of Milan during the time of the bubonic plague in Milan during the 16th century.

Casa Fontana-Silvestri is one of the few Renaissance buildings surviving in Milan, Italy. The main structure dates back to the 12th century, but its current form is due to a thorough modification that were made at the end of the 14th century, in a style that mixes Renaissance and Gothic elements. The facade was originally decorated with frescos that scholars credit to Bramante or Bramantino; most of these painting have disappeared, with just a few remnants now visible under the cornice.
