Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park is a state park in California in the United States. It occupies nearly two miles of the western shore of Lake Tahoe and a total of about 1,000 hectares (2,500 acres) of forested mountains in El Dorado County. Originally called Sugar Pine Point State Park, its name was changed in 2003 to honor Edwin L. Z'berg, a California state assemblyman who specialized in environmental legislation and worked to develop state parks and other natural areas.

Chambers Lodge (also, McKinney) was a historical lodge and post office in Placer County, California. Chambers Lodge was located on Lake Tahoe, 1.25 miles (2.0 km) southeast of Homewood, at an elevation of 6237 feet (1901 m). It was one of the oldest recreational lodges on Lake Tahoe, first established in 1854. After a succession of ownership changes, the lodge was ultimately demolished in 1970, and the site is now occupied by vacation homes. The McKinney post office opened in 1884, changed the name to Chambers Lodge in 1928, and closed for good in 1959. The name McKinney honored John McKinney who settled there in 1864. The name Chambers Lodge honored David H. Chambers who built a lodge at the site in 1928.

The Sugar Pine Point Light was a small lighthouse located on Lake Tahoe, in El Dorado County, California, in the United States. The tower no longer stands, but a small post light marks the site. It is located within the bounds of Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park.

Meeks Creek is a western tributary of Lake Tahoe which has its source on Rubicon Lake, 1.2 miles (1.9 km) northeast of Phipps Peak in Desolation Wilderness, trends northwest through Stony Ridge Lake, Shadow Lake, Crag Lake, and Lake Genevieve 3.5 miles (5.6 km), continues northeast 3.5 miles (5.6 km) to Meeks Bay on Lake Tahoe. Meeks Bay (formerly, Meigs Bay, Micks Bay, and Murphys) is an unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California. It lies on Lake Tahoe at the mouth of Meeks Creek, at an elevation of 6240 feet (1902 m). The place is named for John Meeks, who owned the land. The Meeks brothers baled 25 tons of wild hay in the meadows at the mouth of Meeks Creek in 1862.Meeks Bay was once the site of a popular summer resort with a 400-seat theater, several restaurants, beauty shops, and horse stables. The resort closed in the 1970s and a US Forest Service campground was built on the site. The Washoe tribe later acquired meadow land along Lake Tahoe and gained the right to operate a newer resort complex at Meek's Bay, re-establishing some of the tribe's original presence along the shores of Lake Tahoe.A post office operated at Meeks Bay from 1929 to 1972.

Homewood is an unincorporated community of about 200 residents, in Placer County, California, located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. It is located 5.5 miles (8.9 km) south of Tahoe City and north of Chambers Landing and Tahoma. It is the location of Homewood Mountain Resort.

Homewood Mountain Resort is a ski area located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe in the state of California, a few miles south of Tahoe City in the town of Homewood. It has 1,260 acres (510 ha) of skiable terrain and eight lifts. While it currently does not offer lodging on site, a Draft Environmental Impact Statement has been submitted to the regional planning commission to allow for the development of a resort inclusive of a hotel, condominiums, and various other additions. Since 2006, JMA Ventures, a San Francisco Bay Area developer, has owned and operated the ski area.

Idlewild is an unincorporated community in Placer County, California. Idlewild is located on Lake Tahoe, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of Homewood. It lies at an elevation of 6234 feet (1900 m).Idlewild was the name of a summer lodge built at the location in 1905 by Fred Cole of San Francisco. Cole also acquired a large cruiser ship, also named the Idlewild, which sailed on Lake Tahoe for many years. The ship was hauled ashore in 1942, and then destroyed in December of that year when it was crushed by a tree blown over in a storm.

Ward Creek is a 6.1-mile (9.8 km) eastward-flowing stream in Placer County, California, United States. The creek flows into Lake Tahoe 2.7 miles (4.3 km) south of Tahoe City, California, and has undergone extensive restoration to reduce sediment and surface run-off to maintain the purity of Lake Tahoe.

Blackwood Creek (Washo: dogásliʔ), is a 8-mile-long (13 km) eastward-flowing stream originating on the southwest flank of Ellis Peak in the Sierra Nevada. The creek flows into Lake Tahoe 4.2 miles (6.8 km) south of Tahoe City, California, between the unincorporated communities of Idlewild and Tahoe Pines in Placer County, California, United States.

It lies at an elevation of 6260 feet (1908 m).Sunnyside is combined with Tahoe City for census purposes into Sunnyside-Tahoe City, California census-designated place (CDP).
