Merry Hill, Wolverhampton

Warstones is a suburban area of Wolverhampton, England, situated to the south-west of the city centre. It is home to Warstones Wanderers F.C. Warstones has three schools, within half a mile of each other: Highfields School, Springdale and Warstones. Not far away are Smestow School sports college and Colton Hills Community School. There is also a youth centre; the YWCA. Warstones has many facilities such as a library and many shops. It is the location of some of Wolverhampton's first post World War II council houses, built around Enville Road in the second half of the 1940s.In the past few years there have been some problems in the area. Gang culture was a major issue. West Midlands Police tackled the problem by putting a curfew on the area for a short while and putting a police station in the area. Notable former residents of Warstones Estate include Slade guitarist Dave Hill and journalist and writer Caitlin Moran. Another well known resident was Peter Knowles who boarded on the estate when he came to play for Wolves.

Highfields School is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in the Penn area of Wolverhampton, in the West Midlands of England. It was formed in 1957 and accommodates over 1,500 pupils. There is an environmental centre at the back of the school, which as well as lessons, holds many meetings and gatherings for astronomy or the council. The school was re-built as part of a BSF project and the previous building was demolished. Construction commenced in 2010 and the build was completed in 2012, with landscaping finished in 2013. Highfields remained unaffected by the government revamp of schools rebuilds. The school finished a week early for the six weeks holiday and staggered the pupils back into the new school, starting sixth form down to year 7. Upon moving into the new school the uniform was redesigned. With the move into the new establishment the school changed its title from 'Highfields Science Specialist School' to 'Highfields School'. Previously a community school administered by Wolverhampton City Council, in December 2015 Highfields School converted to academy status. However the school continues to coordinate with Wolverhampton City Council for admissions.

Finchfield is a suburb of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. It is located south-west of the city centre, within the Tettenhall Wightwick Ward between the Merry Hill and Tettenhall Regis Wards of Wolverhampton City Council. Many of the streets have arboreal/plant related names.

Castlecroft is a suburb of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, located on the edge of the city, WSW of the city centre. It is situated where the Merry Hill, and Tettenhall Wightwick wards meet, and also borders South Staffordshire.

Compton Halt was a small single platform halt on the Wombourne Branch Line. It was opened by the Great Western Railway in 1925 and closed in 1932. Poor patronage was a factor in the closure of the line and Compton Halt's existence was similarly blighted. Only the platform remains but is heavily overgrown and is partly decayed. The halt is now part of the South Staffordshire Railway Walk.

Tettenhall Wightwick is a ward of Wolverhampton City Council, West Midlands. The population of this ward taken at the 2011 census was 10,872.

Smestow Academy (formerly Smestow School), also known as simply Smestow (pronounced "smest-oh") is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the Castlecroft area of Wolverhampton, England.

Lower Penn is a village in South Staffordshire, situated to the south-west of Wolverhampton, West Midlands. The Civil Parish covers the area of the historic Parish of Penn that is not now covered by the city of Wolverhampton and thus covers a wider area than that immediately surrounding the village. Part of the parish is considered by the ONS to be part of the Wolverhampton sub-area of the West Midlands conurbation. Lower Penn has a village hall known as Victory Hall, and a pub/restaurant, The Greyhound.

Compton is a suburb of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. It is located to the west of Wolverhampton city centre on the A454, within the Tettenhall Wightwick ward.

A.F.C. Wulfrunians is a football club based in Castlecroft, Wolverhampton, England. They are currently members of the Midland League Premier Division and play at the Castlecroft Stadium.

Bradmore is a suburb of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands of England. It lies at the meeting point of the Graiseley, Park and Merry Hill wards of Wolverhampton City Council. Bradmore is home to Bantock Park, the former grounds of Bantock House which is now a museum owned by the city council. Enoch Powell formerly lived in a house overlooking the park. Situated in the centre of Bradmore is the Bradmore Arms pub, currently owned by Greene King as part of the Hungry Horse chain, and was built in 1926. Originally called the Bradmore Inn, it was in fact located on the opposite side of the road where the current shops now exist. The Bradmore Arms has also seen a number of building changes as it has changed hands through different companies including Whitbread and M&B. The Bradmore Arms also survived demolition, following an application for planning permission submitted to convert the site into a supermarket.Many of the houses in Bradmore were built in or around the early 1920s. The area is well served by buses with service 4 operating between Spring Hill and the i54 via the city centre while service 3 operates between Castlecroft and Fordhouses via the City Centre. Let's Go service 63 runs between Wolverhampton and Oxbarn Avenue serving the local estates to the east of Bradmore Road.

Wolverhampton South West is a constituency created in 1950 represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Stuart Anderson of the Conservative Party. It was represented by the Conservative Party for 47 years after its formation, with Labour winning it for the first time in their 1997 landslide victory. The Conservatives regained the seat in 2010, only for Labour to regain it at the next general election in 2015, before losing it again in 2019 to the Conservative Party. The constituency was held by Enoch Powell from 1950 to 1974, covering his unsuccessful bid for the Conservative Party leadership in 1965 and his controversial Rivers of Blood speech, which criticised mass immigration, especially Commonwealth immigration to Britain, in 1968.
