Ulingsheide Abbey was a Trappist monastery in Tegelen, Venlo, the Netherlands, very close to the Dutch border with Germany. It was founded in 1884 as a daughter house of Westmalle Abbey in Belgium, to receive German novices in the wake of the Kulturkampf. The community was merged to that of Lilbosch Abbey in 2002, the house becoming an annex of Lilbosch. As of summer 2020 negotiations were ongoing for the sale of the property to developers.The monastery was built in the years 1888–1892 to designs by Caspar Franssen (a pupil of Pierre Cuypers). In 1926 a chapel was added, designed by Frans Stoks in a Traditionalist style influenced by Expressionism and Art Deco. The chapel's interior was restyled in 1980.

Kaldenkirchen station is the railway station on the Viersen–Venlo railway in the municipality of Kaldenkirchen, itself a town part of Nettetal in the Viersen district in western Germany. Between 1867 and 1999 it was also on the now closed Kempen–Venlo railway It is situated at the far western end of the Viersen to Venlo line, about three kilometers away from the Dutch border. In former times, it saw some high-profile traffic due to border regulations, but has largely fallen into disuse since the Schengen agreement has become effective. It is still pending renovation.

VVV-Venlo is a Dutch women's football from Venlo. The team was founded in 2010, starting in the Eredivisie season 2010/11. The club is working together with SV Venray who is playing in the Hoofdklasse.Since 2011 VVV is working together with a German club FCR 2001 Duisburg.VVV-Venlo decided to stop playing in the Vrouwen Eredivisie/BeNe League. Owing to the number of qualitative good female players in the Netherlands they foresee a team with insufficient quality. All the players shall return in the competition in the newly formed team of FCE/PSV in the new season.

De Koel (Dutch pronunciation: [də ˈkul]), also known as Covebo Stadion – De Koel, is a multi-purpose stadium in Venlo, Limburg, Netherlands. It is currently mostly used for football matches and is the home stadium of VVV-Venlo. The stadium is able to hold 8,000 spectators, and was built in 1972.

Ithaka Science Center, a hands-on science education center in Tegelen in the Netherlands, was founded in 2008 as a non-profit organization by Vaggelis E. Fragiadakis and Margriet van Tulder and funded as a public-private partnership. Its goal was stated to be to present interactive exhibits, programs, public lectures, and other events for schools and the general public.

Steyl (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈstɛil]; Limburgish: Sjteil [ˈʃtɛjl]) is a village in the Tegelen district of the municipality of Venlo, the Netherlands. The village on the river Meuse is mainly known for its monasteries. In 2004, a section of the village including four monasteries was made a conservation area under protection of the Dutch heritage agency Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (beschermd dorpsgezicht Steyl or kloosterdorp Steyl).

Leuth is a village in North Rhine-Westphalia on the Dutch border in the district of Viersen. It is the smallest part of the municipality of Nettetal and has approximately 2000 inhabitants. Its historical origin lies in the early Middle Ages (before the year 1000).

The current building dates from 1958 and is a typical Dutch station of the post-war era, featuring a clock tower and a large canopy spanning the front of the station. Belfeld (Limburgish: Belvend) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Venlo, and lies about 8 km southwest of the city center of Venlo, between the river Meuse and the border with Germany. In 2001, Belfeld had 4856 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 1.59 km², and contained 1937 residences.In 2001 Belfeld was merged into the municipality of Venlo.

The death of René Steegmans (January 1, 1980 – October 24, 2002) was a violent crime which occurred in Venlo, Netherlands, on October 22, 2002, which drew national attention for being an act of senseless violence. Steegmans addressed two youths for driving recklessly past an old lady on their scooter. According to witnesses he asked for some respect for the elderly. Eighteen-year-old Khalid Lakhlifi and Sylvio Richters then attacked Steegmans, kicking and beating him several times. Witnesses did not intervene. Steegmans was hospitalised with brain damage at the Radboud Medical Centre in Nijmegen, where he died a day later.A silent march was organised to commemorate his death. Khalid was later sentenced to eight years in prison and involuntary commitment. Sylvio, who did not fight but only encouraged Khalid, was sentenced to twelve months of youth detention, of which 6 months on probation. The violent death of René Steegmans, combined with the Moroccan, Muslim background of the perpetrators, caused a national discussion on integration, and senseless violence.
