Belair National Park (formerly known as the National Park and as Belair Recreation Park) is a protected area in Belair, South Australia, 9 kilometres (5.6 miles) southeast of Adelaide city centre; it covers an area of 835 hectares (2,060 acres). It was proclaimed in 1891 and was the first national park in South Australia, second in Australia (after Sydney's Royal National Park which was proclaimed in 1879) and the tenth in the world. Woorabinda Bushland Reserves, formerly known as the Stirling Linear Park, is a 34 ha network of four parks and reserves located in the suburbs of Stirling and Heathfield in the Mount Lofty Ranges, South Australia. The parks are part of the Aldgate Creek catchment which feeds into the Onkaparinga River. 4 km of walking trails connect Stirling Park and Woorabinda to Madurta and Hender Reserves, all of which are open to the general public. The parks contain notable natural and early European heritage value and a network of interpretive signage provides information to park visitors.

Crafers West is a suburb of Adelaide in the Adelaide Hills Council. It was formally named in 1985 as a separate address from Crafers. Crafers West contains the headwaters of Brown Hill Creek and is dominated by steep terrain and native scrub. It is bounded by Mount Barker Road on the northeast and the Bridgewater railway line on the south. The Eagle Mountain Bike Park is in the north of the suburb. Popular tourist spots include Clealand Conservation Park, Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens, and Belair National Park Holiday Park. The western part of the suburb of Crafers West is in the City of Mitcham; however, most settlement is in the Adelaide Hills Council. Crafers West is in the state electoral district of Waite and most is in the federal division of Mayo; however, the part that is in the City of Mitcham is in Boothby.

Heathfield is a township in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia near Stirling. It is home to Heathfield High School, Heathfield Primary School, Heathfield Oval, the Heathfield Waste Depot, Mount Lofty Sand and Metal, Masonic homes (retirement Village), a biodynamic farm and a proposed service station development, along with numerous walking trails. Heathfield is also located close to Mount Lofty Ranges. The small country suburb of Heathfield also contains a small conservation park known as Woorabinda. This is used daily by residents to walk their dogs; and ducks to receive free food. The proposed service station is currently a source of controversy, with some local residents creating a petition against the development and others supporting it. The Adelaide Hills Council have also opposed the development. Heathfield is a mix of country living, while still being only 15 minutes from the Adelaide City centre. As such, it has a diverse mix of middle, to upper middle class residents seeking a secluded home, and farmers. At the 2006 census, Heathfield had a population of 1,000, and a median house price of $632,000.

Old Government House is a historic building located in Belair National Park, South Australia, and was South Australia's first official vice-regal summer residence of the Governor of South Australia from 1860 to 1880, and was used by governors Richard Graves MacDonnell (1855–62), Dominick Daly (1862-68) and William Jervois (1877–80). It was constructed from local sandstone, with the red-brick for the quoins sourced from the Blackwood brickworks, and a native timber shingle roof. The residence's indoor plunge-pool was reportedly the first in the colony.
