The South Side High School in the South Side Flats neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a building from 1897. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.In 1977, South High School won its only City Championship in Football, the first and only in any sport. The school was shut down on 14 August 2004; it would be sold as housing to Gregory Development in 2008 for $1.1 million.

Garrison Foundry-Mackintosh Hemphill Company Offices located at 901-911 Bingham Street in the South Side Flats neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, were built from 1895 to 1902. This Greek Revival styled building was the first building built on the former St. Mary's Parish Complex. These yellow brick buildings were part of the A. Garrison Foundry Co., later the Mackintosh-Hemphill Co., which produced basic iron and steel equipment from the 1870s to the 1980s. The plant equipped dozens of mills in the United States and abroad, including U.S. Steel's Homestead Works, which was conceived, designed, constructed and equipped by James Hemphill. At least one of the Mackintosh-Hemphill buildings (the building on the corner) is attributed to Longfellow, Alden & Harlow. The foundry was added to the List of City of Pittsburgh historic designations on December 30, 2008.

Bedford School, located at 910 Bingham Street in the historic South Side Flats neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places since 1986. According to Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation, it is the oldest public school building still standing within the city of Pittsburgh.

The Oliver Bath House is located at 38 S 10th Street in the South Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Built in 1915 in the Tudor Revival and Gothic Collegiate architectural style, the building today serves as a public swimming pool.

Emerald View Park (formerly called Grand View Scenic Byway Park) is a large municipal park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It encircles the neighborhoods of Mt. Washington, Duquesne Heights and Allentown and offers scenic views of the city that draw more than 1 million visitors annually. The park, officially created on Earth Day 2007, is 280 acres (1.1 km2). It joins Frick, Schenley, Highland, Riverview, and Three Rivers Parks as the sixth in the city's network of regional parks. Until consolidated, this land was an assortment of existing smaller parks, greenways, forested hillsides, playing fields, and neglected land parcels. It is jointly managed by the city of Pittsburgh and the neighborhood's community development corporation.

The Pittsburgh Terminal Properties building is an historic structure on Pittsburgh’s South Side, across the river from Downtown. The building was the Pittsburgh Terminal Warehouse and Transfer Company, located in the South Side Flats neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. This warehouse complex was designed by Charles Bickel and was designed in 1898, and built from 1904 to 1906. The structure was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on May 8, 2013.

South Tenth Street Bridge, most often called the Tenth Street Bridge, but officially dubbed the Philip Murray Bridge, is a suspension bridge spanning the Monongahela River in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is the longest bridge spanning the Monongahela River and serves as the only cable suspension bridge across any of Pittsburgh's three rivers. The bridge was renamed on Labor Day 2007 for Philip Murray, the first president of the United Steelworkers of America.The bridge was built in 1931 and connects South Tenth Street on the South Side to Second Avenue and the Armstrong Tunnel under the Bluff. A staircase leads from the northern terminus of the bridge up to the campus of Duquesne University on the Bluff. In 2015, the bridge was one of 3 bridges to have bike specific lanes installed.

Birmingham was a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, on the South Side of what is now Pittsburgh. Incorporated in 1826 from St. Clair Township, the borough comprised a section of the South Side Flats between what is now South 6th and South 17th Streets. Birmingham was laid out in 1811 by Dr. Nathaniel Bedford, son-in-law of John Ormsby. Bedford named the settlement after his native city, Birmingham in England.Birmingham became flanked by the boroughs of South Pittsburgh (created 1848) on the west and East Birmingham (1849) on the east. Those three and other nearby boroughs were merged into Pittsburgh in 1872.The namesake Birmingham Bridge is actually located at the former East Birmingham.

The Liberty Bridge, completed in 1928, connects downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the Liberty Tunnels and the South Hills neighborhoods beyond. It crosses the Monongahela River and intersects Interstate 579 (the Crosstown Boulevard) at its northern terminus.

South Side Market Building (or South Side Market House) is a historic market house at 12th and Bingham Streets in the South Side Flats neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1915, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The original market house on this spot was built in 1893, but burned around 1914 and was rebuilt in 1915. Architect: Charles Bickel. According to James D. Van Trump and Arthur P. Ziegler, Jr., "It is one of the last two market houses extant in Pittsburgh; the other is the East Liberty Market. The present building opened in 1893. It burned in 1914 (?) and was rebuilt probably on the old lines and opened in 1915. According to Walter C. Kidney, "When it was rebuilt in 1915 after a fire, the towers came off, the gable roof was brought down to the eaves on both fronts, and a well-scaled stone cartouche was set into the south front memorializing the new work. This cartouche is the building's one decoration today, set off by swags and surmounted by a bull's head. The Romanesque walls otherwise survive largely as built, industrial rather than civic architecture."

The South Side Flats is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's South Side area. It is located just south of the Monongahela River. The neighborhood has one of the City of Pittsburgh's largest concentrations of 19th-century homes, which has prompted outsiders to call the neighborhood the City's Georgetown. It includes many bars and restaurants as well as residences. The main throughway in the South Side Flats is East Carson Street. The street is home to a significant portion of Pittsburgh's nightlife.
