Nettleton, Wiltshire

Burton is a small village in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Wiltshire, England. Kelly's 1915 Directory of Wiltshire identifies Burton as the most important part of the parish of Nettleton. It is about 8 miles (13 km) west of Chippenham.

Lugbury Long Barrow is a prehistoric long barrow in Wiltshire, England, about 0.6 miles (1 km) east of Nettleton and about 1 mile (1.6 km) north-west of Castle Combe. The site, excavated in the 19th century, is a scheduled monument.

Fosse Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse in the English Cotswolds near the Fosse Way and Castle Combe. It is now used to provide hospitality and accommodation, including bed and breakfast rooms in the main farmhouse and self-contained, self-catering quarters in converted farm buildings — the former barn, dairy and stables. It is especially popular with Japanese since a couple visited in 1989. The proprietor, Caron Cooper, visited Japan where she hosted afternoon tea with scones at the British embassy. The guests included Prince Mikasa and his family, who subsequently came to stay at the farmhouse for three days. In 2012, it was used as a location for the popular Japanese comic and TV animation, Kin-iro Mosaic, and fans of that series now come to stay at the farmhouse too.

Nettleton Mill is a mill house in Wiltshire, England, on the banks of the Bybrook River, to the south-east of Nettleton. Part of the Castle Combe estate, it was built in 1774 as a farmhouse; this date is inscribed on the outer building. The old ruined farmhouse was refurbished in the early 1990s and has been converted into a bed and breakfast cottage.

West Kington is a village in the civil parish of Nettleton, in Wiltshire, England. The village lies in the steeply wooded valley of the Broadmead Brook, a source of the Bybrook River, and is close to the county boundary with Gloucestershire. It is 6 miles (10 km) southeast of the Gloucestershire market town of Chipping Sodbury. In 1931 the parish had a population of 225. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished and merged with Nettleton. The hamlet of West Kington Wick is 0.6 miles (0.97 km) southeast of the village at grid reference ST 8163 7665.

Castle Combe Castle stood to the north of the village of Castle Combe, Wiltshire, England. The castle was a medieval motte and bailey castle standing on a limestone spur overlooking the Bybrook River. It was probably built by Reginald de Dunstanville, 1st Earl of Cornwall in the 12th century and was unusual in that it had a keep with at least four and possibly five baileys. Earthworks and some stonework remain. Since 1981 the site has been a scheduled ancient monument and is described in the National Heritage List for England as "Motte and bailey castle 600 meters north of Castle Combe".

It lies 17 miles (27 km) east-northeast of Bristol and 93 miles (150 km) due west of London, with the M4 south of the parish. Acton Turville consists of a cluster of households across 1,009 acres, with a total population of 370 people. Acton Turville is also listed as "Achetone" in the Domesday Book.According to John Marius in 1870, From the imperial gazetteer of England and Wales - Acton Turville is: "a parish in Chipping Sodbury district, Gloucester; near the Fosse way and under the Cotswold Hills. It lies 5.5 miles east of Chipping Sodbury, and 7.5 miles east of Yate railway station".

Out Woods (grid reference ST833763) is a 14.3 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Wiltshire, notified in 1975. It is an ancient Ash-Maple woodland noted for containing rare species of ground flora.

Badminton railway station is a closed railway station in Gloucestershire, England on the line between Wootton Bassett to the east, and Patchway and Filton to the west. It served the villages of Badminton and Acton Turville. The station was opened by the Great Western Railway in 1903 and became part of British Railways on 1 January 1948. The station was closed in 1968. The station buildings and sections of platforms still stand derelict with trains passing through the site on the South Wales Main Line.
