Bassickville Historic District

Ahavath Achim Synagogue was located at 725 Hancock Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The building was built in 1926 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 11, 1995, as "West End Congregation--Achavath [sic] Achim Synagogue". The building is a rare example in Bridgeport of a Colonial Revival house of worship containing details such as a portico with fluted columns and round arch stained-glass windows. Bridgeport architect Leonard Asheim designed many municipal and ecclesiastical buildings from 1910 to 1940.

The Stratfield Historic District is a historic residential area on the west side of Bridgeport, Connecticut. In the late 19th and early 20th century, it was one of the highest-status and most fashionable neighborhoods in the city. At more than 100 acres (40 ha) in size, it is one of the largest assemblages of high-status residential architecture in the state. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Maplewood School, also known as Grammar School No. 5, is a historic school building at 434 Maplewood Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut. It was built in 1893, and was designed by Longstaff & Hurd. It was built as part of a major program to improve the city's schools and provide for a rapidly growing population. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Fairfield/Bridgeport train crash occurred on May 17, 2013, when a Metro-North Railroad passenger train derailed between the Fairfield Metro and Bridgeport stations in Fairfield, Connecticut, in the United States. The derailed train fouled the adjacent line and a train heading in the opposite direction then collided with it. There were at least 65 injured among the approximately 250 people on board each of the two trains. Metro-North reported damages at $18.5 million.

Iranistan was a Moorish Revival mansion in Bridgeport, Connecticut commissioned by P. T. Barnum in 1848. It was designed by Bohemian-American architect Leopold Eidlitz. At this "beautiful country seat" Barnum played host to such famous contemporaries as the Hutchinson Family Singers, Matthew Arnold, George Armstrong Custer, Horace Greeley, and Mark Twain. The grandiose structure survived only a decade before being destroyed by fire in 1857. It was one of five such fires in the showman's life that "burned to the ground all his accomplishments".

The Klein Memorial Auditorium is a 1400-seat proscenium theater located at 910 Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport, CT. The venue was built with funds willed to the city by Bridgeport native Jacob Klein (1862 - 1932), a lawyer and active supporter of Bridgeport community organizations. The auditorium, designed by local architect Leonard Asheim, was built in the Art Deco style and features bronze doors, a marble lobby, inlaid wood and geometric motifs. After opening its doors in 1940, the Klein hosted such acts as Leonard Bernstein, Arthur Fiedler, Eleanor Roosevelt, Martin Luther King Jr., Paul Robeson, Milton Berle, Victor Borge and Bill Cosby. More recently The Klein has hosted such diverse musical acts as Alice Cooper, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Boz Scaggs, Herbie Hancock, Ziggy Marley, George Carlin, Peter Frampton, Boyz II Men, the B-52s, and the Parris Island Marine Band.In addition to its history as a concert venue, local dance recitals, graduations, and union meetings occur regularly at the Klein, and the theater has been the home of the Greater Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra for the past 60 years. Other companies currently in residence include the New England Ballet Company, Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras, ConnectUs, and the Fairfield County Children's Choir.

WDJZ (1530 AM) was a radio station broadcasting a World Ethnic format. Licensed to Bridgeport, Connecticut, United States, it served the Bridgeport area. The station was owned by People's Broadcast Network. WDJZ went on the air April 30, 1977. The station was initially owned by road paving and construction executive Frank "Hi-Ho" Daddario and referred to itself on the air as "The Hi-Ho Spot On Your Dial." Daddario also owned the Hotel Hi-Ho. When he purchased a mall in downtown Bridgeport, he renamed it the "Hi Ho Center." His brother, Emilio Q. Daddario represented Connecticut in Congress and lost the Connecticut gubernatorial election of 1970. Daddario died in a plane crash in 1986. WDJZ was the first affiliate of the MOR Music Of Your Life format in the late 1970s. In late January 2008, John Labarca began to broadcast his Italian program on Sunday mornings. Labarca used to host the weekday morning drive show and the "Italian House Party" on competitor WICC. WDJZ went silent on February 1, 2016, after losing its transmitter site; by August, People's Broadcast Network had put the station up for sale. The station's license was canceled on February 2, 2017. Many of programs previously heard on WDJZ would return to the air in June 2016 on WNLK.

The Bikur Cholim Synagogue is a historic religious building at 1545 Iranistan Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Built about 1894 for a Congregational church, it housed two different Jewish congregations from 1929 to 1989. After serving as a commercial establishment for a time, it now houses a Seventh-day Adventist congregation. The building is a distinctive example of the Shingle Style of architecture, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport, Connecticut, was laid out in 1849 in the then popular rural cemetery design in a park-like, rural setting away from the center of the city. The cemetery was founded by showman P. T. Barnum, who himself is buried there. "The original grounds were surveyed and designed by Horatio Stone and Mr. [John] Moody," the cemetery's first superintendent.

The Bridgeport Islamic Community Center is a religious center serving the Muslim population in the greater Bridgeport, Connecticut area. Founded in 2002, it is located at 377 Park Avenue in the city's west end, in a former Congregational Church built in 1926. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its architecture and association with its former congregation, whose history dates to the 17th century. The center provides educational, support, and outreach services to the community.
