Dunvant

Dunvant and Killay, formerly Dunvant (Welsh: Dyfnant), is an electoral ward in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, UK. It is named after the village of Dunvant and neighbouring Killay, which lie within the ward. The electoral ward consisted of some or all of the following areas, Derlwyn, Dunvant, Killay, in the parliamentary constituency of Swansea West. It is bounded by Fairwood to the west; Gowerton to the north; Sketty to the east.

Fairwood Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Fairwood) was a health facility in Upper Killay, Swansea, Wales. It was managed by the Swansea Bay University Health Board.

Killay North (Welsh: Cilâ - Gogledd) is a former electoral ward in the City and County of Swansea, Wales which consisted of some or all of the following areas: Killay, Olchfa and Waunarlwydd, in the parliamentary constituency of Swansea West. The village of Killay is located mainly in this ward, set high above sea level, about 3.5 miles west of Swansea city centre. Killay North was bounded by Gowerton and Cockett to the north; Sketty to the east; Killay South to the south and Dunvant to the west. For the 2012 local council elections, the turnout in Killay North was 22.66%. The results were:

Killay South (Welsh: Cilâ - De) was an electoral ward in the City and County of Swansea, Wales. The ward was mainly rural and consisted of some or all of the following areas: Dunvant, Ilston, Killay, Sketty and Upper Killay in the parliamentary constituency of Swansea West. It was bounded by the wards of Dunvant and Killay North to the north; Sketty to the east; Mayals to the south; and Fairwood to the west. For the 2012 local council elections, the turnout for Killay south was 43.73%. The results were:

Killay railway station served the suburb of Killay, in the historical county of Glamorganshire, Wales, from 1867 to 1964 on the Llanelly Railway.

Gowerton (Welsh: Tregŵyr) is the name of an electoral ward in the county of Swansea, Wales, UK. It is named after Gowerton village which falls within the ward. The Gowerton community boundaries are coterminous with the ward. The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following areas: Gowerton, Penclawdd, Waunarlwydd, in the parliamentary constituency of Gower. It is bordered by Penclawdd and Fairwood to the south west; Killay North and Killay South to the south; Cockett to the east; and Lower Loughor, Upper Loughor, the Loughor estuary and Kingsbridge to the north. The turnout for Gowerton in the 2012 local council elections was 37.02%. The results were:

Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr is a Welsh-medium secondary school for pupils aged between 11 and 19 years. The school is situated in Gowerton, Swansea, Wales. It was established in 1984.As of 2023, Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr had 1113 pupils enrolled at the school, with 27.5 per cent of those coming from Welsh-speaking homes.Notable past students include footballer John Hartson, soprano Elin Manahan Thomas and UFC fighter Brett Johns.In 2001 the school, as the only Welsh-speaking secondary school in Swansea, was encountering capacity problems, having to accommodate over 1,000 pupils in buildings that were designed for a capacity of 750. Proposals were made to move the school to the site of Penlan Comprehensive School, which was shortly to close. However parents and Staff protested against the move, resulting in a second Welsh-language school in Swansea (Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe) According to the latest inspection report from Estyn the school has a GCSE pass rate of 76% (based on 5 GCSEs, grades A-C), which puts it in 5th place in Wales or in the top 10%. In Swansea it is ranked 1st place for best school. In 2015, the Rugby 1st XV won the Ospreys under 18s School League, beating Gowerton Comprehensive School 23–21.

Gowerton South railway station served the village of Gowerton, West Glamorgan, Wales from 1867 to 1964 on the Llanelly Railway.

Gowerton (Welsh: Tregŵyr) is a large village and community, about 4 miles (6 km) north west of Swansea city centre, Wales. Gowerton is often known as the gateway to the Gower Peninsula. Gowerton's original name was Ffosfelin. The village falls within the Gowerton electoral ward of the City and County of Swansea Council, which elects one councillor. The community had a population of 5,212. and the built-up area with Waunarlwydd 8,183.In 1980, the Welsh National Eisteddfod (named after Dyffryn Lliw, see below) was held at the Elba sports complex in the village. The Eisteddfod stone (Gorsedd stones) is located on the roundabout (grid ref. 585966) on the B4295 road to Penclawdd.

Gowerton railway station (originally Gower Road and later Gowerton North) serves the village of Gowerton, Wales. It is located at street level at the end of Station Road in Gowerton, 219 miles 45 chains (353.4 km) from the zero point at London Paddington, measured via Stroud. The station is unmanned but has a ticket machine, shelters on each platform and live train running information displays.

Waunarlwydd (English: The Lord's Meadow – arlwydd is a local variant of arglwydd) is a village and community in Swansea, Wales, within the newly formed Waunarlwydd ward in 2021. Waunarlwydd became a community in 2022. New rugby club due late 2024
