Chapel is a hamlet in the English county of Cumbria. Chapel is located on the A591 road between Bassenthwaite and Bassenthwaite Lake. The Cumbria Way crosses the main road at Chapel. Today it is a beautiful camping site and national park.

Bassenthwaite is a village and civil parish to the east of Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria, historically part of Cumberland, within the Lake District National Park, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 412, increasing to 481 at the 2011 Census. There is a Church of England Church, St John's Bassenthwaite and a tiny Methodist chapel. The village contains many elements of the archetypal English village including a green, primary school and a stream that runs through it. Bassenthwaite is at the foot of Skiddaw, one of the highest mountains in England at 3,054 feet (931 m). Robin Hood, Skiddaw, Ullock Pike, Longside Edge and Barf can be seen from the village. Part of the parish lies within the Skiddaw Group SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).

St Bega's Way is a 36-mile (58 km) walk through rural West Cumbria and the north west corner of the English Lake District. It is usually completed as a leisure walk over 3 days, but has also been used as the basis of a single day competitive Ultramarathon.

Bewaldeth and Snittlegarth is a civil parish in Cumbria, England, historically part of Cumberland. It lies north of Bassenthwaite Lake, in the Lake District and near its northern edge. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 40 who live in 1,534 acres (621 ha). At the 2011 Census it was measured that the population was still less than 100. According to Bulmer's History & Directory Of Cumberland (1901); "Snittlegarth ... is supposed to have been formerly a village of considerable magnitude. The word "Snittlegarth" is thought to signify an enclosure".

Binsey is a hill on the northern edge of the Lake District in Cumbria, England. It is detached from the rest of the Lakeland hills, and thus provides a good spot to look out at the Northern and North Western Fells of the Lake District, as well as the coastal plain and, across the Solway Firth, Scotland. Snaefell on the Isle of Man is also visible on a clear day. It is the northernmost of the Wainwrights.

Bassenthwaite Lake railway station was situated on the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway between Penrith and Cockermouth in Cumbria, England. The station served the village of Dubwath. The station opened to passenger traffic on 2 January 1865, and closed on 18 April 1966. A camping coach was positioned here by the London Midland Region in 1954 this was increased to three coaches in 1955 and then two coaches from 1956 to 1964.The station building and one platform are still visible from the A66 through the trees although the station fell into a state of disrepair and lost its roof. The Station Master's house remains on the side of the A66 but the east bound platform and goods yards are now part of the road. In 2019 a replica French-style steam locomotive with Wagons-Lits carriages used in the 2017 film of Murder on the Orient Express were installed on the site as part of a tourist development.

The Pheasant Inn is a public house at The Pheasant Inn, Bassenthwaite, Cumbria CA13 9YE. It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.

Bassenthwaite Lake is a body of water in the Lake District in North West England, near the town of Keswick. It has an area of 5.3 km2 (2.0 sq mi), making the fourth largest of the lakes in the region. The lake has a length of approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) long and maximum width of 0.75 miles (1 km), a maximum depth of 19 m (62 ft), and a surface elevation of 68 m (223 ft) above sea level. Its primary inflow and outflow is the River Derwent, which drains into the Irish Sea at Workington. The lake is in the unitary authority of Cumberland, and the ceremonial county of Cumbria. Bassenthwaite Lake is the only body of water in the Lake District to use the word 'lake' in its name, all the others using the local terms 'water' (e.g. Derwentwater), 'mere' (e.g. Windermere) or 'tarn' (e.g. Dock Tarn). Some maps dating from the 18th century do in fact mark this lake with the name Bassenwater, and the use of the name Broadwater for this lake is also attested. The A66 dual carriageway runs roughly north–south along the western side of the lake. The lay-bys are popular spots for photographers and bird watchers looking for osprey. The section running south towards Keswick was built along the course of the former Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith railway line.

Dubwath is a hamlet in the Allerdale district, in Cumbria, England. It is part of the parish of Setmurthy. The population of this civil parish taken at the 2011 Census was 148.It is situated on the B5291 road between Cockermouth and Keswick. It is directly adjacent to Bassenthwaite Lake (a popular sailing location). It used to be served by Bassenthwaite Lake railway station, the railway now having been replaced with an A road, the A66. It is on the Workington to Penrith via Keswick bus route. Dubwath contains a sailing club and a restaurant called Pheasant Inn. Most of the buildings date back to Victorian times. Rallies are often staged on the roads around Dubwath. The sailing club is a popular tourist location, particularly during 'Bass week' in the summer. At Dubwath Silver Meadows lottery-funded Bassenthwaite Reflections has established the Lake District's first wetlands nature reserve. The 7.15 hectares (17.7 acres) site at the northern end of Bassenthwaite Lake is a wildlife haven for nature lovers and bird watchers and an excellent example of 'fen' habitat. It is accessible by wheelchairs and uses recycled plastic boardwalks. There are viewing points for birdlife and red squirrels - all encouraged by regularly topped up feeders.

Routenbeck is a hamlet in Cumbria, England. It is located at the northern foot of Sale Fell, near the north-west edge of Bassenthwaite Lake. Routenbeck is just over 2 miles south-west of the village of Bassenthwaite and 5 miles east of the town of Cockermouth. It contains an Old Vicarage. The nearest pub is the Pheasant Inn, about a third of a mile along the road to the north-east.

Overwater Hall is a country house near Ireby in Cumbria. It is a Grade II Listed building.
