Gorgie East railway station

Gorgie ( GOR-gee) is a densely populated area of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is located in the west of the city and borders Murrayfield, Ardmillan and Dalry.

Westfield is a neighbourhood of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is north of the A71 road, between the Balgreen, Gorgie and Slateford areas.

Meggetland Sports Complex, owned by Edinburgh Leisure, is a Sports Pavilion used for a number of International fixtures across the five outdoor facilities they hold; 3G Pitch, Astroturf, Football Pitches, Rugby Pitches and Cricket Pitches. They regularly host matches for many clubs and groups, including Boroughmuir Rugby Club, Boroughmuir Hockey Club, Edinburgh Cala Hockey Club, Boroughmuir Thistle Football Club and Boroughmuir Cricket Club. In addition, the ground also hosted three Edinburgh Rugby matches during the 2013–14 Pro 12 season. They hosted Edinburgh against the Ospreys on 28 February, Cardiff Blues on 11 April and Munster on 3 May.In January 2016, the Edinburgh Wolves (American Football) announced that due to the closure of Meadowbank Stadium for development, they would be moving to play their home games for the 2016 season at Meggetland. East of Scotland Football League team Tynecastle F.C. moved to Meggetland from their previous Saughton Enclosure ground in 2018 and will share the main stadium grass pitch with Boroughmuir.

The North British distillery is a grain whisky distillery located in the Gorgie area of Edinburgh, Scotland. Established by a group of independent distillers in 1885, it is now a joint venture company between Diageo and Edrington Group. It is Edinburgh's last working distillery, widely known as the "NB".

Tynecastle Park is a football stadium in the Gorgie area of Edinburgh, which is the home ground of Scottish Professional Football League club Heart of Midlothian (Hearts). It has also hosted Scotland international matches, and been used as a neutral venue for Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup semi-finals. Tynecastle has a seating capacity of 19,852, which makes it the sixth-largest football stadium in Scotland. Hearts have played at the present site of Tynecastle since 1886.

Slateford (Scottish Gaelic: Àth na Sglèata) is an area of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is east of the Water of Leith. The former village of Slateford lies on the Lanark Road where it crosses the Water of Leith, 1⁄4 mile (400 m) south west of Slateford Station. The name "Slateford" comes from local rock found in the area and the old fording point on the Water of Leith that the village grew round. In 1882 it had a post office with money order savings bank and telegraph departments, a police station, a Good Templars Hall, School, U.P. Church and the extensive bleachfields of Inglis Green. The village was crossed by the Union Canal Slateford Aqueduct in 1822 and a few years later the 14-arch viaduct carrying the Caledonian railway line. The situe of the Canal, Road and Rail bridges capture all three modes of transport together still to this day. In 1952 and later in 1967 major road widening projects removed all but a few of the original cottages, though Slateford House, School (Now the headquarters and visitor centre for the Water of Leith conservation trust), and Church (used as a warehouse) still stand today. Slateford is home to the first car-free housing development in the UK, Slateford Green.

Shandon is an area of Edinburgh within North Merchiston approximately three miles west of the centre of Edinburgh. It is bounded by Slateford Road to the north, Harrison Road to the east, the Union Canal to the south and the Glasgow-Edinburgh Shotts Line and Suburban rail lines to the west.

St Andrew Boat Club is alongside Meggetland Sports Complex, at Meggetland, on the Union Canal, in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland. SABC is affiliated to Scottish Rowing, the national governing body for rowing in Scotland.

Merchiston railway station was a railway station which served the area of Merchiston in Edinburgh, Scotland, for around eighty years. The station was built by the Caledonian Railway between 1879 and 1883, with the last passenger service in September 1965. The station was demolished shortly afterwards and the track bed has become a footpath. The station was located in the neighbourhood sometimes known as "North Merchiston" but more commonly as Shandon, and typically taken to be part of the area of Polwarth, rather than Merchiston. Merchiston was also served by Craiglockhart railway station to the south-west of the area, on the North British Railway's Edinburgh Suburban and Southside Junction Railway.

Tynecastle High School is a secondary school in the Gorgie area of south west Edinburgh, Scotland.

Haymarket TMD is a railway traction maintenance depot situated inside Edinburgh, Scotland, next to Haymarket railway station and Murrayfield Stadium. The depot is operated by ScotRail. The depot code is HA.

LOVE Gorgie Farm, previously Gorgie City Farm, was an urban farm in Gorgie, south-west Edinburgh operated by an education and social care charity named LOVE Learning.
