The 2011 Mumbai bombings were a series of three coordinated bomb explosions at different locations in Mumbai, India, on 13 July 2011 between 18:54 and 19:06 IST. The blasts occurred at the Opera House, at Zaveri Bazaar and at Dadar West localities, leaving 26 killed and 130 injured.

Kamathipura (also spelled Kamthipura) is a neighbourhood in Mumbai, India known for prostitution. It was first settled after 1795 with the construction of causeways that connected the erstwhile seven islands of Mumbai. Initially known as Lal Bazaar, it got its name from the Kamathis (workers) of other areas of the country, who were labourers on construction sites. Due to tough police crackdowns, in the late 1990s with the rise of AIDS and government's redevelopment policy that helped sex workers to move out of the profession and subsequently out of Kamathipura, the number of sex workers in the area has dwindled. In 1992, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recorded there were 45,000 sex workers here which was reduced to 1,600 in 2009 and 500 in 2018. Many sex workers have migrated to other areas in Maharashtra with real estate developers taking over the high-priced real estate. In 2018 the Maharashtra government sought tenders to demolish and redevelop the area.

South Mumbai, colloquially SoBo from South Bombay in Anglo-Indian English, administratively the Mumbai City District, is the city centre and the southernmost precinct of Greater Bombay. It extends from Colaba to Mahim neighbourhoods, and comprises the city's main business localities, making it the wealthiest urban precinct in India. Property prices in South Mumbai are by far the highest in India and among the highest in the world. Notably Cumballa Hills, Cuffe Parade, Malabar Hills, Breach Candy, Altamount Road-Kemps Corner as well as some parts of Worli are constantly ranked in the Global Property Index. Taj Mahal Hotel, Gateway of India, Victoria Terminus, Ballard Estate, and the Bombay Harbour are some of the most iconic landmarks of South Bombay. Billionaire Mukesh Ambani's $1.5 billion home Antilia is located here and is now a part of the iconic skyline. Most residents of South Mumbai belong to old money business, law, trade and fashion families. Geographically, South Mumbai lies at the southern most extent of Salsette Island. Most city residents use the term to refer to the stretch extending from Colaba to Mahim and Sion as South Mumbai. The area is delimited on the east by Mumbai harbour and on the west by the Arabian Sea. South Mumbai is also home to the many educational institutions; namely Cathedral and John Connon School, JB Petit, Campion, Bombay International School, St. Mary's School, Mumbai etc, the most exclusive sports clubs: CCI, The Willingdon Sports Club, as well as the Bombay Gymkhana and hospitals such as Breach Candy Hospital, Bombay Hospital, Jaslok Hospital and Hurkisondas Hospital; in the nation.

Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, managed by Reliance Foundation, is located in Girgaon, Mumbai, India. Founded in 1925 by Gordhandas Bhagwandas Narottamdas, it was renovated and reopened in 2014. The hospital is largely called "Hurkisondas Hospital" and "Reliance Hospital.

Lamington Road, officially Dr. Dadasaheb Bhadkamkar Marg, named after Lord Lamington, the Governor of Bombay between 1903 and 1907, is a busy thoroughfare near Grant Road station in South Mumbai. The official name of the road is rarely used. It is often called the "IT shop of Mumbai".Lamington Road is famous for its wholesale and retail market in electronics goods. Shops on the street sell computer goods, electronic items, television equipment, and wireless equipment at rates much lower than the maximum retail price as they have a high turnover. They sell not only the latest computer related items but even outdated electronic parts for radios like transistors, capacitors, cables, sound cards, TV tuners and adaptors. Lamington road is the third largest grey market in India for electronic goods and peripherals after Nehru Place in Delhi and Ritchie street in Chennai.

Edubridge International School (EIS) is an international school at Grant Road (East) in south Mumbai, India, not far from Chowpatty Beach. It was authorised as a World School in February 2014 by the International Baccalaureate. Edubridge International School offers only IB programmes, and the school was authorised to teach the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in 2015 and to teach the Primary Years Programme (PYP) in 2016. Edubridge is a co-educational day school. The school is located in a historic building that was constructed in 1908 and named after Robert Cotton Money, a 19th-century British educationalist.

The Queen Mary School, founded in 1875, is a private school for girls in Grant road, Mumbai, India. It operates under the management of the Christian Medical Educational Fellowship (C.M.E.F) Trust and prepares students to take the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (I.C.S.E) Board examinations. English is the medium of instruction throughout the school for all subjects, except the regional languages. It is among the oldest schools in Mumbai, and boasts, among its alumni prominent Indians like Maniben Patel (the daughter of Sardar Patel).

Ambroli Church is a Church of North India church in Girgaum, Mumbai that was established in 1831 by the Scottish missionary John Wilson. The unusual name derives from Ambroli House, the name of Wilson's home where the church first gathered which was nearly opposite the current church building. It is believed Ambroli refers to the Gujarati hometown of the migrants who settled in Mumbai, but it is not clear if that place is Amroli. Wilson's educational mission was planned at this site, which led to the founding of Wilson College and Wilson High School. The church covenant was made on 4 February 1831, and the first service was held in Wilson's home on the 6th. Services were conducted in three languages: Hindustani, Marathi and English. The first members of the church included the Scottish missionary couple John and Margaret Wilson, three Brahman men from the Konkan, one Wani merchant, one Vaishya journalist, one Maratha woman from Bombay, one African sailor, and one "Indo-Portuguese" man from the Konkan who was a former Roman Catholic priest. The church's first pastors included John Wilson (1831–1870), Dhanjibhai Nauroji (1870–1884, 1894–1900), and Madhavrao B. Nikambe (1884–1894, 1900–1918). The present-day building was constructed in 1869. The congregation denominationally belongs to the Church of North India (CNI).

Latur was one of the 288 constituencies in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Latur district, in Maharashtra. The constituency existed until the 2004 elections and was part of Latur Lok Sabha constituency. It became defunct after the constituency map was redrawn.
