Pleasant Run, New Jersey

Stone Creek is a tributary of Holland Brook in Hunterdon County, New Jersey in the United States. Stone Creek is positioned to the left of Holland Brook facing downstream. It is the first tributary of the Brook in the western section of Readington Township near Cushetunk Mountain. It runs alongside the Bertrand Easement in Readington and flows into Holland Brook at 40°35′23″N 74°48′09″W. Stony Creek Lane, just east of the stream is named after the waterway. The creek is named for its stony bottom resultant of rock from Mount Cushetunk. The brook is categorized by the NJDEP's website as FW2-NT (fresh water second level classification generally not suitable for trout.)

Readington Township is a township located in the easternmost portion of Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 16,128, an increase of two people (+0.0%) from the 2010 census count of 16,126, which in turn reflected an increase of 323 (+2.0%) from the 15,803 counted in the 2000 census.Created by Royal charter of King George II, "Reading" Township was formed on July 15, 1730, from portions of Amwell Township. It was the first new township created after Hunterdon was established as an independent county. The township was incorporated as Readingtown Township, one of New Jersey's initial group of 104 townships, on February 21, 1798. Portions of the township were annexed by Tewksbury Township in 1832 and 1861. The township was named for John Reading, the first native-born governor of the British Province of New Jersey.Covering more than 48 square miles (120 km2), it is the largest township in the county, covering almost 11% of the county's area. More than 8,000 acres (32 km2) of land have been preserved from development. Readington Township is bounded on the north by the Lamington River and Rockaway Creek; to the east by Somerset County, which existed as the boundary between East and West Jersey from 1688 to 1695; to the south, the South Branch of the Raritan River; and to the west by the old West Jersey Society's line which crosses the Cushetunk Mountains.

Barley Sheaf was an unincorporated community located within Readington Township in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It was named for the grain once grown in the region. The hamlet was on Barley Sheaf Road between County Route 629 (CR 629) and CR 523. The hamlet at one time housed a general store, a post office, blacksmith, creamery, a hotel and numerous farmsteads. Today only farms remain of the hamlet. The hamlet also carried the names of Farmersville and Campbellsville after Catherine Campbell, who ran the hotel in the area.

Dreahook Creek is a left tributary of Holland Brook in Readington, New Jersey. It begins on township owned land near Creek Road and Dreahook Road. It merges with another small tributary (East Dreahook Creek) on the east side of County Route 620 before entering the Holland Brook. It was named after the former Dutch village of Dreahook (Drea-Hook). The name is a corruption of Driehoek (drie- three and hoek- angle), which is the Dutch word for triangle. It was likely named for the triangle created by the settlement in its relation to the early roads to Flemington, Whitehouse Station, Readington Village and Pleasant Run, which have since been rerouted.

There are still numerous farms in the area, including the Readington River Buffalo Farm between Dreahook and Stanton.

The Charles Eversole House, also known as the Eversole-Hall House, is a historic house located at 509 County Road 523 near Whitehouse Station in Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 1, 2006, for its significance in architecture. The house was purchased by the township in 1988 for use as a museum, which opened in 1991.

Three Bridges is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Readington Township in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, on the South Branch Raritan River. It is named for the three original bridges which crossed the river. Farmers John Vlerebone and Harriet Foster Cline were original land owners in the area of Three Bridges. They eventually sold some land to the Central Railroad of New Jersey for its South Branch Line which passed on to the Black River and Western Railroad. Vlerebone and Kline subdivided their land along Old York Road after 1864. In 1875 the Lehigh Valley Railroad built the New Jersey extension of its main line through Three Bridges using its Easton and Amboy Railroad subsidiary where it still runs today now owned by Norfolk Southern Railway. Numerous lines for shipping produce and a number of daily passenger lines stopped in the village in its heyday. Many of the businesses left along with the passenger lines. Today the village houses a post office, bank,a branch of the Hunterdon County Library System and several other businesses.

The Readington Township Public Schools is a community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Readington Township, in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2018–19 school year, the district, comprising four schools, had an enrollment of 1,495 students and 161.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 9.3:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "I", the second-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.Students in public school for ninth through twelfth grades attend the Hunterdon Central High School, part of the Hunterdon Central Regional High School District, which also serves students in central Hunterdon County from Delaware Township, East Amwell Township, Flemington Borough and Raritan Township. As of the 2018–19 school year, the high school had an enrollment of 2,844 students and 238.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.9:1.

Centerville was a hamlet within Readington Township in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The community was located along Campbell's Brook (now Pleasant Run) and Old York Road. Centerville grew up because of a tavern that marked the halfway point on the long Swift Sure Stage Line route from New York to Philadelphia. The hamlet had a school, a store, a post office, a church and blacksmith. When the railroads and newer roads were built, Centerville saw few visitors and today all the buildings there are residences.

Darts Mills is a historic unincorporated community located within Readington Township in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is located on the South Branch of the Raritan River, and several mills were built there in the early 18th century. At its height, a merchant, blacksmith, store and complex of mills were here. The last mill at this site burnt down in 1994. Foundation walls and a mill race remain at the site today. On April 29, 1982, Dart's Mill was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Stanton is an unincorporated community located within Readington Township in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The community dates back to the 17th century and was settled by the Dutch immigrants. It was originally called Housel's after Johannes Housel, who had a farmstead along Dreahook Road in the mid-18th century. After the death of William Housel (who started a school in the community), the last owner of the Housel farmstead, it then carried the name of Waggoner's Hill after landowner William Waggoner. The community took the descriptive name of Mount Pleasant in the early 20th century and would finally become known as Stanton to distinguish it from another Mount Pleasant. The name "Stanton" was taken from James Logan's Pennsylvania estate: Stenton, which in turn is named for the Scottish village where his father was born. Logan was a proprietor of West Jersey, a mayor of Philadelphia, and a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Logan Way in Readington is named after him, as well as Logan Circle and the Logan neighborhood in Philadelphia and Logan Township in Clinton County, Pennsylvania. In the 1830s, a Reformed Church and a general store were built. The Stanton Reformed Church still stands today while the Stanton General Store has been converted to an Italian restaurant called the Stanton Italian Table.

Cushetunk Mountain (formerly Mount Ployden and Pickel's Mountain occasionally Mount Cushetunk or Coshanton) is a ring shaped mountain in the U.S. state of New Jersey, located in Readington and Clinton Township in Hunterdon County. The Lenape Native Americans called the mountain "Cushetunk" meaning "place of hogs" after the wild hogs found there. In the 1960s, the valley at the heart of the mountain was dammed and filled with water to create Round Valley Reservoir. Today, the mountain and its accompanying lake act as a vital water supply to Central New Jersey, while at the same time providing numerous recreational opportunities to the region.
