Readington Township Public Schools

Readington Township is a township located in the easternmost portion of Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 16,128, an increase of two people (+0.0%) from the 2010 census count of 16,126, which in turn reflected an increase of 323 (+2.0%) from the 15,803 counted in the 2000 census.Created by Royal charter of King George II, "Reading" Township was formed on July 15, 1730, from portions of Amwell Township. It was the first new township created after Hunterdon was established as an independent county. The township was incorporated as Readingtown Township, one of New Jersey's initial group of 104 townships, on February 21, 1798. Portions of the township were annexed by Tewksbury Township in 1832 and 1861. The township was named for John Reading, the first native-born governor of the British Province of New Jersey.Covering more than 48 square miles (120 km2), it is the largest township in the county, covering almost 11% of the county's area. More than 8,000 acres (32 km2) of land have been preserved from development. Readington Township is bounded on the north by the Lamington River and Rockaway Creek; to the east by Somerset County, which existed as the boundary between East and West Jersey from 1688 to 1695; to the south, the South Branch of the Raritan River; and to the west by the old West Jersey Society's line which crosses the Cushetunk Mountains.

The Charles Eversole House, also known as the Eversole-Hall House, is a historic house located at 509 County Road 523 near Whitehouse Station in Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 1, 2006, for its significance in architecture. The house was purchased by the township in 1988 for use as a museum, which opened in 1991.

Solberg–Hunterdon Airport (FAA LID: N51), also known as Solberg Airport, is located in Readington Township, New Jersey, United States.

The New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning has been held annually at the Solberg Airport in Readington Township, New Jersey since 1983. Its lead sponsor is New Jersey Lottery. In 2012, the festival hosted around 125 special shape and sport hot air balloons. It also had music concerts, crafters and vendors, food, carnival rides and fireworks, which attracted more than 175,000 people. It had more than fifty corporate partners.

Dreahook is an unincorporated community in Readington Township in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey at the intersection of CR-620/Dreahook Rd and CR 523. The name is a corruption of Driehoek (drie-three and hoek-corner, as in corners of a triangle), which is the Dutch word for triangle. It was likely named for the triangle created by the settlement in its relation to the early roads to Flemington, Whitehouse Station, Readington Village and Pleasant Run, which have since been rerouted. Dreahook Creek and Holland Brook both pass through the area of the former village. Dreahook village once had blacksmith shop, a school and a store. Settlers farmed the land here because of the rich soil along the base of Cushetunk Mountain. There are still numerous farms in the area, including the Readington River Buffalo Farm between Dreahook and Stanton.

Readington Village is an unincorporated community located within Readington Township in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, that is centered on the converging of Readington Road, Hillcrest Road, Centerville Road and Brookview Road. It is located on Holland Brook, originally named Amanmechunk, which means large creek in the Unami dialect. The area was inhabited by the Raritan prior to the arrival of European settlers. The Native Americans who lived near Readington Village travelled to the coast during the summer for fish and clams. Such a trip is mentioned in an Indian deed transferring lands around Holland Brook to George Willocks, an East and West New Jersey Proprietor. The deed mentions two of the natives, who lived at Readington: Metamisco and Wataminian.

The Readington Reformed Church is a historic church located at 124 Readington Road, Readington Village, an unincorporated community located within Readington Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It was known in colonial times as the Dutch Reformed Church of North Branch. It is the oldest Dutch Reformed Church in the county. The current building was built in 1865. The churchyard is known as the Readington Reformed Church Cemetery. The church was added as a contributing property of the Readington Village Historic District by the National Register of Historic Places on June 24, 1991.

Whitehouse Station, also spelled White House Station, is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Readington Township, in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. At the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 2,089. Whitehouse Station takes its name from Whitehouse and Abraham Van Horne's 18th century tavern.New Jersey Transit offers service on the Raritan Valley Line at White House Station.

White House is a NJ Transit railroad station on the Raritan Valley Line, in the Whitehouse Station section of Readington in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The station is on the west side of Main Street in the center and the station building has subsequently been turned into a branch library for the Hunterdon County Library system. This station has no weekend service. The building was designed for the Central Railroad of New Jersey in the Richardson Romanesque style by Bradford Gilbert who is best known for having designed the first steel-framed curtain wall building, but who also designed at least six railroad stations. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 for its significance in architecture and part in the Operating Passenger Railroad Stations Thematic Resource.

Dreahook Creek is a left tributary of Holland Brook in Readington, New Jersey. It begins on township owned land near Creek Road and Dreahook Road. It merges with another small tributary (East Dreahook Creek) on the east side of County Route 620 before entering the Holland Brook. Whitehouse, also spelled White House, is an unincorporated community located within Readington Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The community lies along the former Jersey Turnpike (now U.S. Route 22), just west of Mechanicsville. The Whitehouse–Mechanicsville Historic District, which includes historic places in both Whitehouse and Mechanicsville, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 17, 2015.
