Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd is a village and community in Denbighshire, Wales, situated in the Vale of Clwyd about one mile south of the town of Ruthin. In the 2001 census, it had 1048 residents and 50.6% of them could speak Welsh. The figures for the 2011 census were: population 1,053; Welsh speakers 46.9%. The age group with the highest percentage of Welsh speakers was the 15-year-olds, all of whom could speak it. The villages of Pentrecelyn and Graig Fechan are located in the community.

Pwllglas (or Pwll-glâs) is a village in Denbighshire, Wales, near the town of Ruthin, and in the community of Efenechtyd. Pwllglas is on the A494, which runs through the middle of the village, and contains three cul-de-sacs: Erw Las, Dyffryn, and Tan y Bryn. The nearby village of Bryn Saith Marchog is four miles away. Pwllglas has a thriving local community centred on the village hall, and 2013 saw the reinstatement of a village shop in the hall, which won the "Village shop / Post office" category in the Countryside Alliance awards in February 2016. There is also a public house in the village, named The Fox and Hounds, and the nine-hole Ruthin-Pwllglas Golf Club lies just outside the village towards Ruthin.

Plas Coch (also known as 24 AND 26 Well St) is a medieval Grade II Listed building in Ruthin, Denbighshire which received its listed status on 24 October 1950 by Cadw. It is of medieval origin and is a former C17 large town house. It was built in 1613 using red sandstone from the castle; it became home to the constable of the castle. The building is two-storey with attics and has four large window on each floor. In 1963 it became a banqueting hall owned by Rees Jones who used to trade at the village hall in Llanfair. It became the Conservative Club in 1977 and has been slightly altered, now offering all round facilities for functions.It has been listed as being architecture of exceptional value for being 'a large early C17 town-house, unusual for its stone construction in this area.'

Ysgol Brynhyfryd is a bilingual co-educational comprehensive school in the town of Ruthin in Denbighshire, North Wales. The school serves the community of Ruthin and the many surrounding villages including the rural districts of Corwen, Carrog and Gwyddelwern. The bilingual ethos reflects the community it serves. As of 2023, the school has a total of 1053 pupils on roll. 189 of those are in the Sixth Form.Brynhyfryd is a naturally bilingual school which has; in years 7 and 8; four Welsh forms: C/Y/H/L and five English forms: B/R/F/D/S. The school is considered as a successful school with 68% of pupils leaving with at least five A*-C GCSE grades due to the Estyn Inspection Report in 2015. Ysgol Brynhyfryd was founded in 1898 under the name of "Ruthin County School for Girls". It became co-educational, as "Brynhyfryd School", in 1938, and formally became a comprehensive school, using the Welsh form of the name in the early 1970s. As of 2023, 43.5% of pupils come from Welsh-speaking homes.

Ruthin Castle (Welsh: Castell Rhuthun) is a medieval castle fortification in Wales, near the town of Ruthin in the Vale of Clwyd. It was constructed during the late 13th century by Dafydd ap Gruffydd, the brother of Prince Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, on a red sandstone ridge overlooking the valley. Part of the ancient walls still remain and now form part of the Ruthin Castle Hotel.

Nantclwyd y Dre (previously known as Tŷ Nantclwyd) is a Grade 1 listed house in Ruthin, Denbighshire. It is Wales's oldest dated timbered town house, and is owned by the county and open to the public as a historic house museum.

Siop Nain is a Grade II Listed Building situated near the centre of Ruthin, Denbighshire and dates back to 1490. From 1850 Isaac Clarke used a building at the back as a print shop, which is most notable for the first printing of the National Anthem of Wales: Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau. Around 1850 he set up his own business at 6 Well Street, Ruthin. "Siop Nain" is also known as 6 Well Street.It has been listed "for its special architectural interest as a sub-medieval timber-framed building retaining early character and detail, with some good C17 and C19 detail. The printing of the Welsh National Anthem here is of additional historic interest. Group value with surrounding listed buildings in Well Street."It is now a licensed restaurant and a card and gift shop selling English and Welsh language gifts and cards.

Nos.33, 35 & 37 Clwyd Street, Ruthin is a C16 timber framed grade II building in Ruthin, Denbighshire, which was listed on 16 May 1978 by Cadw (Cadw Building ID: 87299). Today, it is used as a hop. Now a shopping precinct this building dates back to the 15th Century with examples of wattle and daub just inside the building on the right hand side. The building was remodelled in the early 19th century when it became the "Cross Key's Coaching Inn" serving the Ruthin to Chester route with a change of horses in Mold and last licensed in 1905. It later became a temperance commercial hotel and was home to one of the three Ruthin Friendly Societies which were groups of male workers of similar background who contributed small amounts of money on a weekly basis for insurance against injury and old age. At a later date it was the offices of Ruthin Rural District Council. The official hangman, Sam Burrows, stayed here in 1824 for several nights to prepare for the execution of an Irish highwayman, John Connor.
