The Big Blue Bug, also known as Nibbles Woodaway, is the giant termite mascot of Big Blue Bug Solutions located along I-95 in Providence, Rhode Island. It is claimed to be the world's largest artificial bug at 928 times the size of an actual termite, standing 9 feet (2.7 m) tall and 58 feet (18 m) long and weighing 4,000 pounds (1,800 kg). It was constructed over a four-day period from wire mesh and fiberglass in late 1980 at a cost of $20,000.

Big Blue Bug Solutions was one of the first companies to mark all of its vehicles and attempt to remove the stigma from having a pest problem. Today, nearly all exterminators use marked vehicles.Due to the prominence of the Big Blue Bug and the building's location at a high-traffic portion of the highway (near Thurbers Avenue Curve), many organizations request to have their banners hung in front of the Bug. Big Blue Bug Solutions will let non-profit organizations hang their banners on a first-come, first-served basis, with groups needing to file a request at least two years in advance. Some of the many organizations that have placed banners in front of the Bug include Make-A-Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, American Heart Association, and Girl Scouts of the USA.

Rhodes Street Historic District is a residential historic district encompassing one block of Rhodes Street in southern Providence, Rhode Island, along with the dead-end Janes and Alphonso Streets. This area has a well-preserved collection of stylish 19th century houses, built roughly between 1850 and 1895. South Providence did not see much residential development until after industry began moving into the area. These houses were built on land that was originally part of the Rhodes family farm, and were built for managers of nearby industrial facilities. Architecturally the houses represent a cross-section of styles popular in the period.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Calvary Baptist Church is an historic church in Providence, Rhode Island. In 1854, the First Baptist Church of South Providence and Fifth Baptist Church merged to form Friendship Baptist Church. The congregation constructed the current building in two phases. In the first, a small chapel (now facing Stanwood Street) was designed by Sidney Rose Badgley and built in 1897. Rapid growth of the congregation meant this space was inadequate soon after it was completed, and the larger main sanctuary, a Gothic Revival octagonal-roof structure drawn from plans by Badgley and Arthur Easton Hill, was built in 1905–1907. After moving to the new location the church was renamed Calvary Baptist Church. The church meeting house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The congregation is currently affiliated with the American Baptist Churches/USA (ABCUSA).

It is the largest academic medical center in the region, affiliated with Brown University since 1959. As an acute care teaching hospital, Rhode Island Hospital is the principal provider of specialty care in the region and the only Level I Trauma Center in southeastern New England. The hospital provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients, with particular expertise in cardiology, including the state's only open heart surgery program; diabetes, emergency medical and trauma, neurosciences, oncology/radiation oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and surgery. Rhode Island Hospital's pediatrics division, Hasbro Children's Hospital, is the only pediatric facility in the state. Recording nearly 154,000 visits in the fiscal year of 2016, Rhode Island Hospital's adult and pediatric emergency wings are among the busiest in the United States.

Christ Episcopal Church was an historic Episcopal church at 909 Eddy Street in Providence, Rhode Island. The Gothic church was built in 1888 by William R. Walker & Son and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The church sat empty for a number of years after being closed in 1981, and began to deteriorate, earning it a place on the Providence Preservation Society annual 10 Most Endangered Properties List in 1999 and again in 2003. The building was demolished in January, 2006.

The Manchester Street Generating Station is a 510 MW gas-fired power station in the Jewelry District of Providence, Rhode Island. The station's main building is located along the Providence River and defined by three 321 foot (98 m) tall smoke stacks. The plant has three Siemens gas turbines and three ABB steam turbines. The power station is owned by Starwood Energy Group, which purchased the facility from Dominion Energy in 2018.

The Fox Point Hurricane Barrier is a 3,000-foot (910 m) long tidal flood barrier spanning the Providence River in Providence, Rhode Island, located 750 feet (230 m) upstream from Fox Point. It was constructed between 1960 and 1966 to protect the low-lying downtown area of the city from damaging storm surge and floods associated with hurricanes and other major storm events. The Fox Point Hurricane Barrier consists of five main parts: river gates, rock and earthen dikes along each shore, vehicular gates along each shore where roads pass through the dikes, canal gates at the west end of the barrier associated with the nearby electric power station, and a pumping station to control the flow of water.

It is the primary teaching hospital in obstetrics, gynecology, and newborn pediatrics of the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. In 1996, Women & Infants Hospital was a founding member (along with Butler Hospital and Kent Hospital) of the Care New England Health System.
