Big Blue Bug Solutions is an extermination business located in Providence, Rhode Island that services southeastern New England. The company is known for its mascot, Nibbles Woodaway (also known as the Big Blue Bug), a giant blue termite that stands atop its office next to I-95 in Providence. The company provides pest control services to both residential and commercial properties, and uses ecologically safe products, and has been recognized for promoting the use of integrated pest management in schools to protect student safety. It is also known for aiding Providence during the city's rat epidemic, and was an early adopter of converting trucks to run on natural gas. Big Blue Bug Solutions has also sponsored Little League baseball teams throughout Rhode Island. Originally named New England Pest Control, the company changed its name to Big Blue Bug Solutions in 2012 because of its mascot.Historically, pest control companies generally advertised that their exterminators would arrive in unmarked vehicles so as to ensure that neighbors would not realize that a residence had a pest problem. Big Blue Bug Solutions was one of the first companies to mark all of its vehicles and attempt to remove the stigma from having a pest problem. Today, nearly all exterminators use marked vehicles.Due to the prominence of the Big Blue Bug and the building's location at a high-traffic portion of the highway (near Thurbers Avenue Curve), many organizations request to have their banners hung in front of the Bug. Big Blue Bug Solutions will let non-profit organizations hang their banners on a first-come, first-served basis, with groups needing to file a request at least two years in advance. Some of the many organizations that have placed banners in front of the Bug include Make-A-Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, American Heart Association, and Girl Scouts of the USA.

It is claimed to be the world's largest artificial bug at 928 times the size of an actual termite, standing 9 feet (2.7 m) tall and 58 feet (18 m) long and weighing 4,000 pounds (1,800 kg). It was constructed over a four-day period from wire mesh and fiberglass in late 1980 at a cost of $20,000.

Rhode Island Hospital is a private, not-for-profit hospital located in the Upper South Providence neighborhood in Providence, Rhode Island. It is the largest academic medical center in the region, affiliated with Brown University since 1959. As an acute care teaching hospital, Rhode Island Hospital is the principal provider of specialty care in the region and the only Level I Trauma Center in southeastern New England. The hospital provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients, with particular expertise in cardiology, including the state's only open heart surgery program; diabetes, emergency medical and trauma, neurosciences, oncology/radiation oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and surgery. Rhode Island Hospital's pediatrics division, Hasbro Children's Hospital, is the only pediatric facility in the state. Recording nearly 154,000 visits in the fiscal year of 2016, Rhode Island Hospital's adult and pediatric emergency wings are among the busiest in the United States.

The Calvary Baptist Church is an historic church in Providence, Rhode Island. In 1854, the First Baptist Church of South Providence and Fifth Baptist Church merged to form Friendship Baptist Church. The congregation constructed the current building in two phases. In the first, a small chapel (now facing Stanwood Street) was designed by Sidney Rose Badgley and built in 1897. Rapid growth of the congregation meant this space was inadequate soon after it was completed, and the larger main sanctuary, a Gothic Revival octagonal-roof structure drawn from plans by Badgley and Arthur Easton Hill, was built in 1905–1907. After moving to the new location the church was renamed Calvary Baptist Church. The church meeting house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The congregation is currently affiliated with the American Baptist Churches/USA (ABCUSA).

Upper South Providence is an official neighborhood in the South Side in the city of Providence, Rhode Island. It is bound to the north by Interstate 95, the east by the Providence River, to the south by Public Street, and the west by Broad Street. Often associated with Lower South Providence directly to its south, Upper South Providence is a distinct neighborhood.

Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island is a women and infants' hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. It is the primary teaching hospital in obstetrics, gynecology, and newborn pediatrics of the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. In 1996, Women & Infants Hospital was a founding member (along with Butler Hospital and Kent Hospital) of the Care New England Health System.

Christ Episcopal Church was an historic Episcopal church at 909 Eddy Street in Providence, Rhode Island. The Gothic church was built in 1888 by William R. Walker & Son and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The church sat empty for a number of years after being closed in 1981, and began to deteriorate, earning it a place on the Providence Preservation Society annual 10 Most Endangered Properties List in 1999 and again in 2003. The building was demolished in January, 2006.

The Providence Gas Company Purifier House (Imperial Warehouse Company; City Tire Company) is a historic building at 200 Allens Avenue (corner of Public Street) in Providence, Rhode Island. It is a large four-story steel-and-concrete structure, built in 1900 by the Berlin Iron Bridge Company, early in the era of steel frame construction. It was used for the gasification of coal until about 1940, when it was purchased by the City Tire Company, which occupied it until 2000. The building has been rehabilitated and converted for a variety of other uses. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

The Lower South Side (or Lower South Providence) is a neighborhood in the southern part of Providence, Rhode Island. It is bounded by Public Street to the north (bordering Upper South Providence), by Interstate 95 to the south (bordering Washington Park), by Broad Street to the west (bordering Elmwood), and by the Providence River to the east.

The Beaman and Smith Company Mill is an historic factory complex at 20 Gordon Avenue in Providence, Rhode Island. It consists of two masonry buildings at the junction of Gordon and Saratoga Streets in south Providence. The older of the two buildings is a one-to-two story brick structure, built in 1898 by the Berlin Iron Bridge Company. It has a steel frame, and is about 250 feet (76 m) long. The second building is an early example of concrete slab construction, built in 1917. It was designed by local industrial architecture firm, Jenks & Ballou. It is four stories in height, and is attached to the older building's south face. It originally had a brick surface, but much of this was stuccoed. The brick building presents four bays to Gordon Street, while the concrete one has two. The complex exemplifies two notable early modern construction methods, and is a symbol of the industrial development of south Providence in the late 19th century. Beaman and Smith was a manufacturer of precision machine tools; they went out of business in 1926. The complex was occupied for many years by the James Hill Manufacturing Company, who produced metal containers.The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

South Providence Library—Providence Community Library is an historic branch library building at 441 Prairie Avenue in Providence, Rhode Island. The main portion of the building is a single-story brick Colonial Revival structure, designed by Wallis Howe and built in 1930. Due to the constraints of the lot, Howe's otherwise standard design (used for constructing several other Providence branch libraries) was altered to place the building gable-end to the street. The street-facing facade has been obscured by a two-level glass-faced modern addition. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The Matthew Lynch House is an historic house at 120 Robinson Street in Providence, Rhode Island. The house is a modest 1+1⁄2-story gambrel-roofed wood-frame structure, resting on a brick foundation. It was probably built in the late 18th century as a farmhouse on the west bank of the Providence River in what was then agricultural area (and is now downtown Providence), around where Grace Church now stands, on Matthewson Street. It was moved about 1865 to the South Providence area known as "Dogtown", an area of Irish immigrants and slaughterhouses. The Lynch house was one of several older houses moved to Dogtown at this time. The Lynch family occupied the house from 1863 to 1937; the house changed hands several times and fell into dereliction. It was rehabilitated in the 1970s.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
