Merion station

Merion Station (also known as Merion) is an unincorporated community in Pennsylvania, United States, bordering Philadelphia to the city's west. It is one of the communities that make up the Philadelphia Main Line, and is part of the municipality of Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County. Merion Station is known for its grand mansions and for the wealth of its residents. Merion Station is contiguous to the Overbrook and Overbrook Park neighborhoods of Philadelphia and is also bordered by Lower Merion Township's unincorporated communities of Wynnewood and Bala Cynwyd, and the borough of Narberth.

Temple Adath Israel of the Main Line (Hebrew: עדת ישראל) is a Conservative synagogue located in Merion, Pennsylvania with 800 families. The synagogue offers religious services, pre-school, Hebrew Sunday school, adult education, and community programming. It was founded in 1946 and moved to its current location in 1953. Eric Yanoff has served as senior rabbi since 2010.

In southeastern Pennsylvania on April 4, 1991, a Piper Aerostar propeller-driven aircraft collided in mid-air with a Bell 412 helicopter over Merion Elementary School in Lower Merion Township, a suburb northwest of Philadelphia. All five people in both aircraft were killed, including United States Senator John Heinz, the sole passenger of the Piper. Two school children on the ground were also killed by falling debris. In addition to the seven fatalities, five more people on the ground were injured. An investigation discovered the cause of the accident to be poor judgment and pilot error of the crews from both aircraft.

Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary is a Roman Catholic seminary in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania that is under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The oldest Catholic institution of higher learning in the Philadelphia region, the school is named after Charles Borromeo, an Italian saint from the Counter-Reformation. As of April 2022, Auxiliary Bishop Timothy C. Senior was president of Saint Charles.Saint Charles is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. Overbrook station is a SEPTA Regional Rail station on the Paoli/Thorndale Line, located near 63rd Street and City Line Avenue (US 1) in the Overbrook neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It serves many of the residents of Overbrook Farms and the suburban neighborhoods across City Avenue in neighboring Montgomery County, as well as Saint Joseph's University and Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia. In 2017, the average total weekday SEPTA boardings at this station was 774 and the average total weekday SEPTA alightings was 717.

The Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia (Hebrew: פילאדעלפיע ישיבה) is a Haredi Litvish yeshiva in the Overbrook neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its heads of school are Rabbi Shmuel Kamenetsky, Rabbi Shimon Yehudah Svei and Rabbi Sholom Kaminetsky.

The Arboretum of the Barnes Foundation (5 ha / 12 acres) is an arboretum and the former site of the Barnes Foundation art gallery located at 300 North Latch's Lane, Merion, Pennsylvania with entrance at 50 Lapsley Lane. Since 2018 the adjacent Saint Joseph's University has managed the Arboretum and its educational programs under a lease agreement with the Foundation. Now known as the Barnes Arboretum at Saint Joseph's University, the arboretum is open to visitors Monday through Friday when the University is open, but for walk-in visitors only. From May through the end of October, the Arboretum is open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free parking in their lot. Admission is free and no tickets or reservations required.The arboretum was begun in the 1880s by Captain Joseph Lapsley Wilson. The site was purchased by the Barnes Foundation in 1922, whereupon Wilson became the arboretum's director and a foundation trustee until his death in 1928. Over time, the arboretum has expanded its collection to over 3,000 species/varieties of woody plants, a herbarium housing 10,000 specimens, and a library of some 2,500 volumes. The arboretum school was established in 1940. The arboretum contains good collections of Aesculus, Cotoneaster, Cornus, crab apples, ornamental ferns, lilac, Lonicera, Magnolia, peony, Quercus, Phellodendron, Rhododendron, Stewartia, and Viburnum, as well as notable specimens of Ginkgo biloba, Calocedrus decurrens, Cunninghamia lanceolata, Sequoia sempervirens, and Trochodendron aralioides. Other plants of interest include Araucaria araucana, Davidia involucrata, andParrotia persica. It also contains a formal rose and perennial garden, woodland, lawns, pond, stream, and a greenhouse (reconstructed in 2002) containing about 250 varieties of plants.

Overbrook is a neighborhood northwest of West Philadelphia, Philadelphia, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The area's housing ranges from large, old homes to rowhouses to 3- and 4-story apartment buildings.

Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR) is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research center located in suburban Philadelphia, U.S., on the campus of Lankenau Medical Center. Lankenau Hospital, then known as the German Hospital of the City of Philadelphia, was the site of the city's first bacteriological and chemical research laboratory, founded in 1889.

The 2020 KPMG Women's PGA Championship was the 66th Women's PGA Championship. It was originally scheduled to be played June 25–28 at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. It was rescheduled to October 8–11 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Known as the LPGA Championship through 2014, it was the third of four major championships on the LPGA Tour during the 2020 season. Kim Sei-young won with a record low aggregate of 266, 14 under par, after a final round 63. She finished five strokes ahead of Inbee Park, who had a last round of 65.

Waldron Mercy Academy is a K-8 Catholic private elementary school, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia, located in Merion Station, Pennsylvania, USA. The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and has twice won National Blue Ribbon School recognition (in 2001 and 2009) by the United States Department of Education.

The Mosque of Shaikh M. R. Bawa Muhaiyaddeen is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the grounds of the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship. The building of the mosque took 6 months and was done by the members of the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship under the direction of M. R. Bawa Muhaiyaddeen. It was completed by May 1984, two years before his death in 1986. The official opening and dedication took place on May 27, 1984.The liturgical prayers follow the Hanafi tradition.The mosque provides activities similar to other Islamic mosques including the five daily Islamic prayers (salat), Jum'ah prayers every Friday, and classes in Arabic, Qur'an recitation, Salat and Islam. Unique to the mosque is the practice of early morning dhikr recitation (remembrance of God) using the practice instituted by Bawa Muhaiyaddeen.
