The Dubuque Museum of Art is an art museum in Dubuque, Iowa. The museum is known for its collection of works by Grant Wood. The collections include more than 2,500 works of art housed in the former Statesman Bank building in downtown Dubuque. The museum was founded in 1987, although it evolved out of the Dubuque Art Association which had been operating sporadically since 1874.

Washington Park (also known as Washington Square) is a small public, urban park (1 acre) located in Downtown Dubuque, Iowa, United States. The park encompasses an entire city block, bordered on the north by West 7th Street, on the west by Bluff Street, on the south by West 6th Street, and on the east by Locust Street. The park is located between the city's post office and the Dubuque Museum of Art. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, and it was included as a contributing property in the Cathedral Historic District in 1985.

The Town Clock is a large clock that stands in downtown Dubuque, Iowa. The clock has stood over the city for over 140 years. The present clock is the second "Town Clock"; the first collapsed in the 1870s, killing three people. The building on which it originally stood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but the clock tower itself is not.

Upper Main Street Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. At the time of its nomination it consisted of 24 resources, which included 18 contributing buildings, and six non-contributing buildings. In 2011 the boundaries of the district were expanded to include four additional buildings on the west side of the 900 block of Main Street. The district is the northern end of the city's most important commercial street. It is situated on a level terrace above the downtown area, located to the east. The buildings located on the east side of Main Street have exposed foundations along the alley because the grade descends in that direction. For the most part the district is made up of commercial buildings, although there is one house, four rowhouses, and a church. All of the buildings are masonry construction, and they are between one and four stories tall. The bell tower of St. Luke's United Methodist Church (1896) is equivalent to an eight-story building. St. Luke's Church and the Interstate Power Company Building (1894, 1956) are individually listed on the National Register.

The Security Building, also known as the Stampfer Building, is a historic structure in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. The cream-colored building is associated with the J. F. Stampfer Co. department store.

The Carnegie-Stout Public Library is located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. The public library had its beginnings with the Young Men's Literary Association, established in 1859, and their book collection was the basis for the library's collection. The books were housed in a variety of buildings over the years. The community applied for a grant from Andrew Carnegie who on January 12, 1901, contributed $71,500 to build the library building. Local businessman Frank D. Stout donated the property, which was worth $20,000, in honor of his father Henry L. Stout. The two-story Bedford stone and brick building was designed by Chicago architects W. G. Williamson and John Spencer. It is considered one of the finest examples of the Classical tradition of Beaux-Arts architecture in Iowa. The main facade is dominated by a Roman Corinthian portico that was modeled after the Pantheon in Rome. Its fluted columns are matched with pilasters on the wall behind. The building was dedicated on October 17, 1902, and it opened three days later. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and it was included as a contributing property in the Jackson Park Historic District in 1986. An addition was added to the east side of the building in 1981.

Redstone is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. This is one of three large homes that Augustine A. Cooper, who owned Cooper Wagon and Buggy Works, built for himself and his two daughters. When it was completed in 1888 it was a duplex with 27 rooms, with the family side more ornate than the tenant side. The 2½-story brick structure with red sandstone trim was designed by Thomas Carkeek in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. The elements of that style are found in the round arch window openings, the use of rough limestone for the lintels, and its heavy mass. The terracotta friezework on the cornices over the bay window, the tower, the corner gables, and the Corinthian-style capitals on the porch columns reflect Neoclassical influences. The house was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, and it was included as a contributing property in the Cathedral Historic District in 1985. The building has been converted into a bed and breakfast inn.

The Interstate Power Company Building, also known as the Masonic Hall and the Dubuque Electric Company, is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. While a single facility, this is actually two buildings: an 1894 three-story Queen Anne, and a 1956 three-story (later four-story) Modern Movement free-standing addition. The Dubuque Electric Company moved into the older building in 1924, and the following year it was reorganized as Interstate Power Company. This became the headquarters of a regional electrical utility that, at one time, served parts of eight states and a Canadian province. The Great Depression and antitrust court rulings altered the company's fortunes. The 1956 addition was designed to hold the companies large computers in an air-conditioned environment, in addition to office space. Other additions to the building were made in 1962, 1981 and 1989. The facility remained Interstate's corporate headquarters until Alliant Energy bought and absorbed the company in 1996. Alliant continued to use the building for a period of time afterward. It was included as a contributing property in the Upper Main Street Historic District in 2005, and it was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Dubuque YMCA Building, also known as the Iowa Inn, is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. Several area churches partnered to form the local YMCA in 1857. It was one of the first chapters formed west of the Mississippi River. Its activities ceased during the American Civil War, and it was reformed in 1866. They rented rooms on Main Street for their activities. Its first modest gymnasium was outfitted in 1884, and it was improved in 1992 when YMCA took over the facilities over the former Dubuque Athletic Club. The local YMCA completed the first section of this facility two years later, with the second section completed in 1916. Often the local YMCA chapters copied or adapted one another's building designs, which gave their facilities an institutional character in form and style. The Romanesque Revival style was popular in Iowa in the 19th century, which is reflected in the 1894 section. In the early 20th century they generally employed the Neoclassical and Commercial styles, and the 1916 wing reflects the Commercial style. YMCA remained here until 1969, when they opened a new joint facility with the YWCA on Dodge Street. This building became the Iowa Inn, which rented rooms to low-income people. MetroPlains Development of St. Paul, Minnesota bought the building in 2000 and renovated it into an apartment building for senior citizens known as the Henry Stout Apartments. It was named for an early supporter of YMCA in Dubuque.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The J.H. Thedinga House is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. Thedinga was a native of Hanover who settled in Dubuque in 1839. He studied law, but never practiced it. He was an early settler here and was engaged in retail. Thedinga also held a variety of political positions, including mayor. The two-story brick structure features crow-stepped gables on the sides. It was built as an addition to a frame house in 1855. The frame structure was removed some time between 1885 and 1900. The brick structure was altered at that time so that the library was converted into a kitchen and dining room, the parlor was divided into two sections, and the lower and upper porches were added to the south side. The house was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, and it was included as a contributing property in the Cathedral Historic District in 1985.

The Grand Opera House is an opera house located at the corner of 8th and Iowa Streets in Dubuque, Iowa that was built in 1890. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.It was deemed important as a "national treasure". The theatre has the largest of all stages ever in Dubuque, and is Dubuque's only surviving opera house. It is architecturally important as an early Richardsonian Romanesque building in Dubuque and as a salient work of Chicago architect Willoughby James Edbrooke. It is Edbrooke's only surviving opera house, and he used its design in his design portfolio that won him the position of Supervising Architect of the U.S. Treasury Department in 1891. Its design is said to be "representative of Edbrooke's smooth exterior wall interpretation of the Richardsonian Romanesque style." It is also historically important from its association with high-quality theatre in Dubuque during 1890-1928. The theater has been preserved with great historic integrity and, in 2002, was being restored for continuing use in live stage entertainment. Its history is extremely well documented.In 2015 performance events at the theater marked its 125th anniversary.

The Charles T. Hancock House, also known as the Hancock-Gross House, is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. Hancock owned a large wholesale grocery firm. He hired local architect Frank D. Hyde to design this three-story frame Queen Anne. Completed in 1890, the house is situated on the brow of a 64-foot (20 m) bluff. It has views of the city below, as well as the hills of Wisconsin and Illinois across the Mississippi River. While restrained when compared with other houses in this style, it does feature an irregular plan, a wraparound porch, multiple roof lines, narrow bargeboards in the gables, and a corner tower with a conical roof. The house was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, and it was included as a contributing property in the West Eleventh Street Historic District in 2004.
