CIGV-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at 100.7 FM in Penticton, British Columbia, with rebroadcasters in Keremeos and Princeton. Founded by The Robinson Family of Great Valleys Radio in 1981, the station was sold to Newcap Radio in 2011, and approved by the CRTC on February 15, 2012. CIGV is the only country format station in the Okanagan Valley and was rebranded to Country 100.7 on April 27, 2012. On May 14, 2012, at 5:30 a.m., 'Okanagan Mornings with Troy Scott and Roo Phelps' went on the air. Troy Scott was released from the company in August 2012 and became Program Director of CJSU-FM. 100.7 re-branded the morning show as "Okanagan Mornings with Roo Phelps." Scott George hosts Okanagan Afternoons. In February 2017, CIGV-FM rebranded to New Country 100.7.

Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park is a provincial park within the Okanagan-Similkameen Regional District of British Columbia, Canada, focused on the mountain of the same name and located on the east side of Okanagan Lake, opposite Peachland and immediately south of the City of Kelowna. The park is one of the largest in the area, covering 110.38 square kilometres (42.62 sq mi). Most of the park is only accessible by foot, horseback, bicycle, or boat as motor vehicle access is restricted to BC Parks staff and technicians servicing the three telecommunications towers in the park. The park comprises several trails, campsites (including six marine camp areas), lakes, and large areas of wilderness. Popular activities include hiking, camping, boating, mountain biking, and hunting (which is permitted). Between 1975 and 1993, around 84.5 hectares (209 acres) of land now incorporated into Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park was donated by Dr. David Carruthers Murdoch through the Nature Trust of British Columbia.

CHOR-FM is a Canadian radio station that broadcasts an adult hits format at 98.5 FM in Summerland, British Columbia. The station is owned by Bell Media and is branded as Bounce 98.5. CHOR began as CKSP at 1450 AM in 1972, as a part-time satellite re-broadcaster of CKOK in Penticton. Okanagan Radio Limited put the station on the air to improve coverage to the north. The first manager of the station was Russ Mitten, who was succeeded by Jim Hart, who became Member of Parliament. The station originally broadcast local programming from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and eventually from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. The CKSP call sign was changed by new owners in 1991.

A documentary about this affair, Eddy's Kingdom, was released in 2020.On August 16, 2003, a lightning strike near the island started the 2003 Okanagan Mountain Park Fire that burned a large portion of the surrounding park.

The Okanagan ( OH-kə-NAH-gən), also called the Okanagan Valley and sometimes the Okanagan Country, is a region in the Canadian province of British Columbia defined by the basin of Okanagan Lake and the Canadian portion of the Okanagan River. It is part of the Okanagan Country, extending into the United States as Okanogan County in north-central Washington. According to the 2016 Canadian census, the region's population is 362,258. The largest populated cities are Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon, and West Kelowna. The region is known for its sunny climate, dry landscapes and lakeshore communities and particular lifestyle. The economy is retirement and commercial-recreation based, with outdoor activities such as boating and watersports, skiing and hiking. Agriculture has been focused primarily on fruit orchards, with a recent shift in focus to vineyards and wine. The region stretches northwards via the Spallumcheen Valley to Sicamous in the Shuswap Country, and reaches south of the Canada–United States border, where it continues as Okanogan County. The Okanagan as a region is sometimes described as including the Boundary, Similkameen, and Shuswap regions, though this is because of proximity and historic and commercial ties with those areas.

Westbank is one of the communities within the City of West Kelowna in the province of British Columbia. It is 12 km to the west of Kelowna. Other communities in West Kelowna include Casa Loma, West Kelowna Estates, Shannon Lake, Smith Creek, Glenrosa, Rose Valley and Lakeview Heights. Westbank sits to the south of West Kelowna. Westbank was for many years an unincorporated area within the Central Okanagan Regional District. In December 2007, following a governance referendum, it became a neighbourhood within what is now the City of West Kelowna. It has no legal borders since it is a neighbourhood and opinions vary as to exactly where Westbank begins and ends. As of January 2020, the City of West Kelowna has a total population of about 35,818.A post office was opened in 1902 and was named for its location on Okanagan Lake. Originally owned by Sun Country Cablevision and currently owned by Stingray Group, the station was licensed on March 14, 2008. The station officially launched on November 4, 2008, playing the song "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" by Bachman-Turner Overdrive. On February 26, 2009, Sun Country Radio Ltd. received CRTC approval to acquire the assets of the radio programming undertaking CKKO-FM Kelowna from Sun Country Cablevision Ltd.On July 12, 2013, Newcap was denied a licence to change the authorized contours of CKKO by relocating its transmitter to a site on top of Okanagan Mountain and by changing its transmitter class from B to C and its average effective radiated power (ERP) from 10,000 to 6,300 watts (directional antenna with a decrease in maximum ERP from 31,000 to 14,100 watts and an increase in the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 130.8 to 793 metres). The denial was because the station would focus more on the nearby city of Penticton, where it would compete with other stations in that market, while losing its focus on Kelowna. In addition, the CRTC felt that it would give an unfair advantage in that market, with Newcap already owning CIGV-FM in Penticton.
