The Old City of Shanghai (Chinese: 上海老城厢; pinyin: Shànghăi Lăo Chéngxiāng; Shanghainese: Zånhae Lo Zenshian), also formerly known as the Chinese city, is the traditional urban core of Shanghai. Its boundary was formerly defined by a defensive wall. The Old City was the county seat for the old county of Shanghai. With the advent of foreign concessions in Shanghai, the Old City became just one part of Shanghai's urban core but continued for decades to be the seat of the Chinese authority in Shanghai. Notable features include the City God Temple which is located in the center of the Old City and is connected to the Yuyuan Garden. With the exception of two short sections, the walls were demolished in 1912, and a broad circular avenue built over the former wall and moat: the southern half was named the "Zhonghua Road" and the northern half the "Minguo Road" (together making up "Zhonghua Minguo", or "Republic of China" in Chinese). (The northern half was renamed "Renmin Road" ("People's Road") in 1950 by the new Communist government of Shanghai). The Old City was for decades essentially coterminous with the old Nanshi District, which is now part of Huangpu District.

Nanxiang Bun Shop (simplified Chinese: 南翔馒头店; traditional Chinese: 南翔饅頭店; pinyin: Nánxiáng Mántóu Diàn; Shanghainese: Nuezhion Meudoe Di) is a traditional Shanghai eatery located in the City God Temple precinct in the old Chinese section of the city. It was established in 1900. Nanxiang is a town near Shanghai where the xiaolong mantou was invented. The restaurant has more recently expanded internationally, with branches in South Korea and Japan.

The City God Temple or Temple of the City Gods (simplified Chinese: 上海城隍庙; traditional Chinese: 上海城隍廟; pinyin: Shànghǎi Chénghuángmiào; Shanghainese: Zånhae Zenwånmio), officially the City Temple of Shanghai, is a folk temple located in the old city of Shanghai. It commemorates the elevation of Shanghai to municipal status and is the site of the veneration of three Chinese figures honored as the city gods of the town. It is also known by some locals as the "Old City God Temple", in reference to a later "New City God Temple" which no longer exists.

The Fuyou Road Mosque (Chinese: 福佑路清真寺; pinyin: Fúyòu Lù Qīngzhēnsì), also known as the North Mosque, is a mosque in Huangpu District, Shanghai, China.

Yu Garden or Yuyuan Garden (simplified Chinese: 豫园; traditional Chinese: 豫園; pinyin: Yù Yuán, Shanghainese Yuyoe pronounced [y²².ɦɥø⁵⁵], lit. Garden of Happiness) is an extensive Chinese garden located beside the City God Temple in the northeast of the Old City of Shanghai at Huangpu District, Shanghai. It abuts the Yuyuan Tourist Mart, the Huxinting Teahouse and the Yu Garden Bazaar.This garden is accessible from the Shanghai Metro's Line 10 and Line 14 Yuyuan Garden station.A centerpiece is the Exquisite Jade Rock (玉玲珑) a porous 3.3-m, 5-ton boulder. Rumours about its origin include the story that it was meant for the Huizong Emperor (Northern Song Dynasty from 1100 to 1126 AD) at the imperial palace in Beijing, but was salvaged from the Huangpu River after the boat carrying it had sunk.

The Confucian Temple or Temple of Confucius of Shanghai (simplified Chinese: 上海文庙; traditional Chinese: 上海文廟; pinyin: Shànghǎi Wénmiào), is a folk Confucian temple in the old city of Shanghai. It is similar to the original temple of Confucius in his hometown Qufu and to the Beijing temple, but on a smaller scale. The temple is located on Wenmiao Road (文庙路) in Huangpu District. The Wenmiao Market lies around it. The market opens every Sunday morning and hosts a temple fair.

The Xiaotaoyuan Mosque (simplified Chinese: 小桃园清真寺; traditional Chinese: 小桃園清真寺; pinyin: Xiǎotáoyuán Qīngzhēnsì), formerly known as Islamic Western Mosque or Shanghai Western Mosque, is a mosque in Huangpu District, Shanghai, China. It is the largest mosque in Shanghai.

Yuyuan Garden (simplified Chinese: 豫园; traditional Chinese: 豫園; pinyin: Yùyuán) is a station on Line 10 and Line 14 of the Shanghai Metro. It is located near the famous Yuyuan Garden in Huangpu District, Shanghai. The station entered operation in April 2010. This station became an interchange station between Line 10 and Line 14 on December 30, 2021

The Dàjìng Gé Pavillon (上海古城墙和大境阁) is a museum and ancient temple of Shanghai, incorporating the last remaining portions of the walls of the Old City of Shanghai. Most of the walls were dismantled in 1912, and today only this portion remains.In 1959 the Dajing Ge Pavillon was listed as a cultural relic and put under municipal protection. It was renovated in 1995, and then opened to the public. The building houses a temple and a small museum with photographs of ancient Shanghai (上海老城厢史迹展).

Saint Joseph's Church (simplified Chinese: 圣若瑟堂; traditional Chinese: 聖若瑟堂; pinyin: Shèng Ruòsè Táng) at Yang-king-pang is a church in the Yangjingbang area of Huangpu District, Shanghai (near Dashijie). It is colloquially known as the Yang-king-pang or Yangjingbang Catholic Church (洋泾浜天主堂). Located on one of the three parcels of land granted to the Catholic Church in the 1840s in compensation for the seizure of Jingyi Church during the suppression of Christianity of 1731, it was built by father Louis Hélot between 1860 and 1861, in what was then the French Concession. It was consecrated in 1862. It was built in brick, in the romanesque style with gothic elements. It was closed in 1966 during the Cultural Revolution, and reopened in 1986, at which time the surrounding buildings continued to house a primary school.

Laoximen (simplified Chinese: 老西门; traditional Chinese: 老西門; pinyin: Lǎoxīmén) is an interchange station between Lines 8 and 10 of the Shanghai Metro. It began operation on December 29, 2007. The name of the station is derived from the Old West Gate (or Laoximen (老西门)) of the walled Chinese city. The station is located in Huangpu District, near the intersection of Middle Fuxing Road and South Xizang Road.

Renji Hospital (simplified Chinese: 仁济医院; traditional Chinese: 仁濟醫院; pinyin: Rénjì Yīyuàn) is a general hospital in the Pudong District of Shanghai, China, with the rank of "Grade 3, Class A". The hospital is a university hospital affiliated to the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.
