Devil's Beef Tub

Annanhead Hill is a 478-metre (1,568 ft) summit in the Moffat Hills of Scotland. It lies on the boundary between the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway, 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) north of Moffat, in the Southern Uplands.Annanhead is one of four hills encircling the Devil's Beef Tub, the headwaters of River Annan.The hill is crossed by the Annandale Way hiking trail designated in 2009.

The Crown of Scotland is a hill in the Scottish Borders, Scotland. At a relatively small elevation from the surrounding peaks, it is situated to the north of the Devil's Beef Tub and the town of Moffat. The hill's unusual name derives from the alliance made between Robert the Bruce and James Douglas, Lord of Douglas upon its summit in 1306, following the former's murder of the Red Comyn at Greyfriars kirk in Dumfries, and when Bruce was on his way to Scone to be crowned by Bishop William de Lamberton.

Greenhillstairs is the steep B719 road north of Moffat in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The road, about 3 miles long, leaves the A701 Moffat to Edinburgh main road passes over the A74(M) and then joins the B7076 service road running parallel to the motorway. The B719 descends steeply into the Evan Water valley with views across the valley.

Auchencastle railway station was a private station which served Auchencastle, near Beattock, in the Scottish county of Dumfries and Galloway. It was used by railwaymen and families and was served by local trains on what is now known as the West Coast Main Line. The nearest station for Auchencastle is now at Lockerbie.

Fruid is a small reservoir in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, UK, near Menzion. It is formed by damming the Fruid Water, and supplements the contents of Talla Reservoir, forming part of the water supply for Edinburgh. The construction of the reservoir flooded the valley, inundating several farmhouses including Hawkshaw. Playwright Peter Moffat had ancestors that previously lived in the area now covered by water and cites the location as inspiration for The Village.

Moffat Museum is a community museum in Moffat, Scotland. It was established in the Old Moffat Bakehouse in 1984. The museum expanded into a neighbouring building and reopened in 2013. It is arranged over two floors and has a courtyard at the back of the building. The subjects covered by the museum focuses on local and family history and includes topics such as farming, local trades and crafts, sports, education and the Hydropathic Hotel and Spa. There is also a model railway and information on Moffat railway station.

Moffat (Scottish Gaelic: Mofad) is a burgh and parish in Dumfriesshire, now part of the Dumfries and Galloway local authority area in Scotland. It lies on the River Annan, with a population of around 2,500. It was a centre of the wool trade and a spa town. Moffat is around 59 miles (95 kilometres) to the southeast of Glasgow, 51 miles (82 kilometres) southwest of Edinburgh, 21 miles (34 kilometres) northeast of Dumfries and 44 miles (71 kilometres) northwest of Carlisle. The Moffat House Hotel, located at the northern end of the High Street, was designed by John Adam. The nearby Star Hotel, a mere 20 ft (6 m) wide, was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the narrowest hotel in the world. Moffat won the Britain in Bloom contest in 1996. Moffat is home to Moffat toffee. The town is held to be the ancestral seat of Clan Moffat. The Devil's Beef Tub near Moffat was used by the members of Clan Moffat and later the members of Clan Johnstone to hoard cattle stolen in predatory raids.

Moffat railway station was a station and the terminus of a short branch line which served Moffat, in the Scottish county of Dumfries and Galloway. It was served by trains from the junction at the now closed Beattock.

Hart Fell is a hill in the Moffat Hills range, part of the Southern Uplands of Scotland. It lies north of the town of Moffat on the border with the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway. A broad, rolling hill, it is visible from the M74 motorway in the west, parts of Dumfries and ranges to the east. Hart Fell is gently sloping on three sides of the hill, however the east ridge is steep and craggy and features a deep corrie known as Blackhope. The normal route is from the southern ridge, passing over Swatte Fell and can be extended to include a full loop of Blackhope, finishing on Saddle Yoke, known as the Hart Fell Horseshoe.

Fruid Water is a river in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. The valley it occupies has been dammed to form the Fruid Reservoir. The river is a tributary of the Tweed, with a confluence about 2 km upstream of Tweedsmuir. The river has a catchment area of 23.7 km2, and a mean flow rate of 0.66 cubic metres per second leaving the reservoir.
