Hassel (river)

Stiege is a village and a former municipality in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the town Oberharz am Brocken. Stiege has 1083 inhabitants (1-1-2010).

Wahnborn is a small river of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It flows into the Katzsohlbach near Breitenstein.

Selkenfelde is an abandoned village in Saxony-Anhalt in the central German district of Harz. It is located not far from the B 242 federal road (Harz High Road) between Stiege (Harz) and Güntersberge. According to legend the origins of the village go back to Charlemagne. It was first mentioned as Silicanuelth in AD 961 in two documents by King Otto I and co-regent Otto II dated 15 and 25 July. Selkenfelde had been already abandoned by the Thirty Years' War. The abandoned village of Selkenfelde is incorporated in the network of hiking checkpoints that form the Harzer Wandernadel.

Brocken-Hochharz (German pronunciation: [ˌbʁɔkŋ̍ˈhoːxhaːɐ̯ts]) was a Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It was situated in the Harz mountains, southwest of Wernigerode. It was named after the highest peak of the Harz: Brocken. The seat of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft was in Hasselfelde. It was disbanded on 1 January 2010. The Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Brocken-Hochharz consisted of the following municipalities: Allrode Benneckenstein Elend Hasselfelde Sorge Stiege Tanne

Brummeckebach is a small river of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It flows into the Hassel in Hasselfelde.

Hasselfelde is a town in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is in the eastern Harz, approximately 17 km south of Wernigerode. Since 1 January 2010 it has been part of the town of Oberharz am Brocken. As of 1 January 2010 Hasselfelde has 2,390 inhabitants.

The Neustadt Dam, also known as the Nordhausen Dam (German: Talsperre Neustadt or Nordhäuser Talsperre), is the oldest dam in the Free State of Thuringia in Germany. It supplies drinking water to the town of Nordhausen. The dam is a curved gravity dam made of rubble stone, based on the Intze Principle. The dam was built in 1904–1905, in the southern Harz mountains, and it was raised by a further 6.26 metres in 1922–1923. The impounded stream is the Krebsbach. The operator of the dam is the Thüringer Fernwasserversorgung; the water is supplied to the Wasserverband Nordhausen (Nordhausen Water Association). Swimming and water sports are not permitted on the lake, but there is a public path around the lakeshore. The dam was refurbished between 1997 and 2001. It was reinforced, waterproofed on the upstream side with asphaltic concrete, and given an inspection walkway and an impervious blanket. On the western side of the valley is a checkpoint (no. 218) in the Harzer Wandernadel hiking system.

Breitenstein is a village and a former municipality in the Mansfeld-Südharz district, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the municipality of Südharz.

Große Wilde is a river of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. At its confluence with the Lude in Stolberg (Harz), the Thyra is formed.

Murmelbach is a river of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It flows into the Hassel near Hasselfelde.

Eisfelder Talmühle is an isolated junction station between the Selketalbahn and the Harz narrow gauge mainline (Harzquerbahn). In the days of East Germany's Deutsche Reichsbahn it had large refreshment rooms and staff. It is still however a busy interchange at certain times of the day when steam trains and railcars converge from three directions to allow passengers to make connections.
