Wahnborn

Selkenfelde is an abandoned village in Saxony-Anhalt in the central German district of Harz. It is located not far from the B 242 federal road (Harz High Road) between Stiege (Harz) and Güntersberge. According to legend the origins of the village go back to Charlemagne. It was first mentioned as Silicanuelth in AD 961 in two documents by King Otto I and co-regent Otto II dated 15 and 25 July. Selkenfelde had been already abandoned by the Thirty Years' War. The abandoned village of Selkenfelde is incorporated in the network of hiking checkpoints that form the Harzer Wandernadel.

The Hassel is a river of Saxony-Anhalt, in the East Harz Mountains in Germany. It flows through several municipalities including Stiege and the town of Hasselfelde. Its source is located not far from Stiege. After about 10 kilometres (6 mi) it flows into the Hassel Auxiliary Dam and later into the Rappbode Reservoir.

Breitenstein is a village and a former municipality in the Mansfeld-Südharz district, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the municipality of Südharz.

Stiege is a village and a former municipality in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the town Oberharz am Brocken. Stiege has 1083 inhabitants (1-1-2010).

The Hunrodeiche or, more rarely, the Hunrodseiche, in the Harz Mountains of central Germany is an oak tree over 1,000 years old near Hainfeld in the county of Mansfeld-Südharz in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

The Katzsohlteich is an artificially impounded reservoir that lies southwest of the town of Güntersberge in the Harz Mountains of central Germany and is used as a preflooder (Vorfluter) and fishpond. Only a few metres from the pond is the considerably larger lake of Bergsee, past the southern shores of which runs the Selke Valley Railway. The Katzsohlbach stream flows through the pond immediately before it empties at the Bergsee into the Selke. The old Marble Mill (Marmormühle) which used to be driven by water from the pond, no longer exists. It processed marble from a quarry lying some way above the Katzsohlteich. The Katzsohlteich is checkpoint 172 in the Harzer Wandernadel system.

Katzsohlbach is a stream in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It flows through Katzsohlteich Pond, and joins the Selke River in Güntersberge.

Sautal is a small river of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It flows into the Hassel near Hasselfelde.

The ruined castle of Güntersburg stands about 2 km (1.2 mi) southwest of Güntersberge in the Harz mountain range of central Germany.

The Neustadt Dam, also known as the Nordhausen Dam (German: Talsperre Neustadt or Nordhäuser Talsperre), is the oldest dam in the Free State of Thuringia in Germany. It supplies drinking water to the town of Nordhausen. The dam is a curved gravity dam made of rubble stone, based on the Intze Principle. The dam was built in 1904–1905, in the southern Harz mountains, and it was raised by a further 6.26 metres in 1922–1923. The impounded stream is the Krebsbach. The operator of the dam is the Thüringer Fernwasserversorgung; the water is supplied to the Wasserverband Nordhausen (Nordhausen Water Association). Swimming and water sports are not permitted on the lake, but there is a public path around the lakeshore. The dam was refurbished between 1997 and 2001. It was reinforced, waterproofed on the upstream side with asphaltic concrete, and given an inspection walkway and an impervious blanket. On the western side of the valley is a checkpoint (no. 218) in the Harzer Wandernadel hiking system.

Stolberg Castle (German: Schloss Stolberg) is a palace in the town of Stolberg in the Harz Mountains of Germany. It dates to the 13th century and stands above the town on a hill with steep drops on three sides. Since 2003 it has been completely restored and renovated by the German Foundation for Monument Conservation.

The Old Mint (German: Alte Münze) is a protected timber-framed house in the town of Stolberg in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. The building houses the Old Mint Museum (Museum Alte Münze). It is located at No. 19, Niedergasse.
